One of the best, most walkable locations in Charlotte!
We own the entire 8-plex apartment building, and this is a second-floor 2br/2ba apartment with two off-street, reserved parking spaces. Located on a quiet, tree-lined residential street in the Historic District of Dilworth, 1.5 miles from the central business district (Uptown), you'll be able to walk to 3 parks, two full-service grocery stores, a health-food market, 40+ restaurants (including raw/vegan, Indian, 3 Thai restaurants, Italian, burgers/pizza, sushi, etc.) wine shop, wine bar, yoga and massage studios, coffee shops, art galleries, consignment shops, neighborhood pubs and other amenities.
A transit stop 1/2 block away provides bus service directly to Uptown and SouthPark (upscale shopping) every 15 minutes. The light rail stop to Uptown is only a 15-minute walk away. Carolinas Medical Center is 4 minutes away by car, or an easy 15-20 minute walk. We can help arrange a rental bike to take advantage of the bike lanes and paths in the neighborhood.
This super-comfortable, spotlessly clean apartment is in a historic 8-plex apartment building that we own, built in 1920, and was completely remodeled with attention to all the details. High ceilings, refinished original hardwood floors, original 2-panel doors with glass door knobs help the apartment maintain its original character.
We've recently undertaken a complete GREEN renovation on the building, including dual- pane windows, high efficiency heating and cooling, energy efficient lighting, dual-flush toilets, ceiling fans, tankless water heaters and new insulation for comfort.
One great feature is the large private balcony, overlooking the front lawn and tree canopy, which provides a comfortable outdoor living and dining area to take advantage of Charlotte's wonderful climate, whether for breakfast in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening. There is a also a common area with a gas grill and outdoor dining for your use.
In the fully-equipped kitchen there are brand new cabinets, quartz countertops and stainless steel appliances, including a gas range and refrigerator with ice maker.
A full-size washer and dryer are also included in the apartment for your use. There is a desk, wifi, and a small stereo cd player with a place for your Ipod or MP3 player. A large flat screen television in the living room is wifi enabled and streams Netflix and Hulu. There are flatscreen televisions in both bedrooms.
The master bedroom has a King bed with 400-thread count sheets, and a day bed in the second bedroom converts into two twin beds at night. The living room sofa converts into a queen-sized bed, providing combined total accommodations for 6. All bedding and mattresses are new.
The master bedroom has its own private bath with shower, in addition to a large walk-in closet.
The apartment has two reserved parking spaces, an outdoor patio with gas grill, recycling facilities and composting. The grounds are well-landscaped with native and drought tolerant plantings. You'll feel safe and secure, with keyed access required for the building entrance and for the apartment.
Most of our guests are repeat clients who book in advance, so please book early. We think we've thought of everything you'll need for your visit, but if not, we live right around the corner so can help with anything you might need.

My husband James and I travel extensively and prefer staying in apartments rather than hotels when we travel. Upon our return from a month renting a great place in Istanbul last summer, we decided to offer some of our properties here! We are Green Developers (see our latest LEED-certified project celadongreenway dot com) who enjoy meeting new people and introducing them to our fair city. I'm a native Charlottean so can help provide a true local's perspective during your visit, which can be especially helpful for people relocating to Charlotte. Our clean and comfortable properties are located near Uptown Charlotte, in very walkable and safe neighborhoods. We try our best to provide a true home away from home. Thanks in advance for your interest and we look forward to hosting you
Jim Hock purchased this apartment in 2009
Charlotte has been my home for 40+ years, and we love sharing our city with other travelers. We feel that location is paramount in any decision to vacation, and ours is one of the most centrally located neighborhoods in the entire city. We purchased this home and lived here a number of years before buying a single family home nearby.
Location, location, location. Our walkable neighborhood provides the ability to live car-free, and when a car is needed, you can get anywhere in the area in minutes. Near both hospitals and close to the Uptown business district, you'll enjoy staying in the center of everything, but in a quiet residential neighborhood. As a native Charlottean, I can help guide you around our city, and can be especially helpful for those relocating to the area.
We thoroughly enjoyed the apartment! My son lives nearby, and we were in town for a month for the birth of our new grandbaby. We didn't want to make a nuisance of ourselves by staying with my son and daughter-in-law, and this was a great option!!!
Located in a safe and walkable neighborhood, the apartment is bright and airy, with a balcony overlooking the front lawn. The extra bedroom allowed us to have our older grandchildren stay with us for several nights, which was so nice.
We got to help out with our new grandbaby, and it was really nice to come home to a place of our own.
Everything was included from the laundry detergent to multiple sets of sheets and towels.
We took many walks through the historic district--gorgeous homes and Latta park was our favorite. The location can't be beat, just a mile from the hospital and 15 minutes from the airport.
I can't say enough about how wonderful our stay was here! A group of 7 high school friends many who haven't seen each other in 25 years wanted to plan a girls weekend. We hoped for a place where we could hang out together, cook, sit in our Sweats, catch up and just relax. The Magnolia was perfect! We rented two apartments which were side by side and the way it was structured actually allowed for us to have one big suite. The decor was beautiful from the furniture to the beautiful paintings(which I want) to the comforters to the relaxed feel. The location was perfect. Dilworth is so low key and really gives a cute neighborhood feel instead of the feeling the downtown hotel stay can give. We walked everywhere. Coffee shop was .5 miles one way and brunch options were 1.0 mile the other way. When we arrived each apartment had complimentary wine, liquor, and food so we could all enjoy our first night together. Thank you to James, Charlie and everyone else who made this weekend perfect.
The property was a great location for our long weekend in Charlotte. We had a little difficulty getting in initially-with key code.
The location was perfect for us. We had a couple of Uptown tours so getting there was easy. We went to a couple of restaurants nearby-Tupelo Honey and Sunflour Baking (for 2 breakfasts).
The Dilworth area is a neat area. It was so quiet. We appreciated having the parking place in back.
Apartment was well outfitted for our stay-one thing missing were tissues in bathrooms which we were able to pick up in nearby Riteaid.
Great customer service and contacts by Manager Charlie.
Wow, talking about Southern Hospitality! This place was perfect! The landlord Charlie, thought of everything. The location is great, the condo is very open and cozy with very comfortable beds. Charlie thought of everything to make sure the stay is comfortable. The kitchen has everything you would need. I will definitely stay here again.
We arrived to spotless accommodations with lights on & they thought of all the little details. Charlie had left us a couple bottles of wine, white & red, there was pasta & marinara, English muffins & butter, filtered water, orange juice, adult beverages complete with lime on cutting board. The Internet was fast, it was a great convience to have a washer & dryer and it's always a plus to have 2 bathrooms. Definitely an eclectic modern style like IKEA meets the MET. Pillows were comfortable & so was bedding, our ONLY suggestion would be a bed topper in master BR, like the spa sensations memory foam topper only sold on Walmart.com....bed a bit hard. This was our favorite VRBO stay by far! Thanks Charlie!!!
Its all about feeling at home when you are away! Not only did we feel welcomed and at home - the location was spot on! Great area for a morning walk for coffee (or a doughnut!) or an evening out. The owners included several nice touches to make us feel at home on our arrival - from drinks to snacks. Charlie met us at our check-in time to walk through everything with us. The apartment is old but nicely modernized and if you like the retro/modern feel you will like this place! There were a few minor cosmetic issues (couple of broken blind slats in the master bedroom and a difficult to open door to the balcony) but those really paled in comparison to the overall apartment. We absolutely would consider this spot or others owned by the Home Collection on our regular visits to Charlotte!
We were 4 adults and 1 child, and the foundation of our great visit to Charlotte was this apartment. We were greeted with a welcome package on the kitchen counter, wine in the fridge, and classical music on the stereo. We checked in with Jim by text, who responded immediately even thought it was late, and got ourselves to bed. The apartment is spectacular: beautifully decorated and with all mod cons. How refreshing to be able to do laundry as and when on vacation!
I have one reservation: we had a 7-year-old with us, and there wasn't much for her to do - our fault, not Jim's - but there isn't outdoor space for running around. Having said that, I would stay here again in an instant and hope I get another excuse to go to Charlotte soon.
The US National Whitewater Center is located 11 miles away. Uptown is 1.5 miles away (museums, NASCAR Hall of Fame, Epicentre, Convention Center) and UNCC is 11 miles away.
