Located in the Mohawk Valley only a half hour from Eugene, we are perfectly positioned for adventure. There are beautiful day-trip destinations to the North, East, West and South - may they be on two or four wheels. And at the end of a full day of adventure, imagine settling around the fire with your friends after an exquisite salmon dinner by the creek, then moving over to the warming water of the in-ground Spa under a starry sky.
Tipi Village provides an idyllic setting for group retreats, family reunions, weddings and other celebrations. We can accommodate up to 25 guests, with exclusive use of the grounds and all amenities for the duration of the event.
During the cooler months of October through May we offer the Studio or Master Suite. They are open year-round.
The tipis all have beautiful stone floors with rugs, and like all other dwellings, they feature comfortable beds with down comforters and wool blankets to keep warm in cool summer nights.
Breakfast is served either by the creek or on the patio. Your stay includes a gourmet breakfast, including organic free-range eggs from our own chickens. Ken also cooks up an amazing Spanish Paella fest in the outdoor kitchen for dinners, by prior arrangement.
Time takes on a different meaning in the forest. You feel yourself relax into a slower pace - into the here and now of birds singing and water flowing. If you sit still, you can observe the wild flock of quail, the occasional pheasant or the wild turkeys and deer coming through on their daily wanderings. In the spring we see elk bulls grazing at the edge of the forest, and in the fall Oregon Chinook salmon is swimming upstream in our Mill Creek. - If you sit still, you will experience nature's silence and stillness enter your consciousness. You will find an atmosphere of respect among these tall trees - respect for the Land, the Keepers of the Land and for Mother Nature.
Keywords: Tipi Village Retreat is both a village and a retreat, well suited for individual travelers and groups up to 28.
Ken and Janet have decided to share this unique property with others. The creek, tall trees and proximity to the old ghost town of Wendling make this an ideal location for weddings, retreats, and family gatherings. Ken's love of food and cooking and Janet's passion for art and reflexology make them ideal hosts for your gatherings.
"A very great vision is needed and the man [or woman] who has it must follow it as the eagle seeks the deepest blue of the sky." -- Crazy Horse
Janet Becker purchased this house in 2007
The private setting beside the creek within the forest are ideal for groups who want to feel close to nature and and still have the comforts of home. An ideal "glamping" spot.
It is a place of healing, in which you connect with nature and with yourself in the sanctity and stillness of the forest and the tipis.
We have introduced a playful Native American theme. All tipis are named after tribes ` Chiefs or other Native American personalities. The following tipis are Calapooya ∆ Chief Seattle ∆ Chief Joseph ∆ Sitting Bull ∆ Hiawatha ∆ Sacajawea and Crazy Horse ∆ The Master Bedroom and Studio are lovely and each have a private bath for more privacy.
Children especially love this Native American theme. Kids love to play in the forest and by the creek. It is a perfect location for a family retreat ` being that it is private and secluded. There are little nature walks or adventure day hikes around historic Wendling ` which is now no more than an overgrown ghost town ~ with ferns and moss drapped over concrete structures. The colors are vibrant shades of green. The creek offers swimming holes, wildlife watching and catch & release fishing.
The closeness to the nearby culture and sport events in Eugene, as well as the proximity to ocean beaches in the West and the Cascade Mountains in the East, makes Tipi Village Retreat the perfect vacation spot all around.
Tipi Village is an amazing place to have a wedding. Ken and Susanne are lovely, supportive hosts. My family and friends were blown away by the beauty of the land, kindness of the hosts, and elegant natural surroundings.
A year later, they are still talking about it, asking if we can get married again.
What an incredible experience with two beautiful people on a truly special site.
Tipi Village Retreat is a celebration of nature's beauty, of old forest and clear splashing creek, of silence and bird song, and of taking time for each other in this serene setting, only 30 minutes from the cultural center of Springfield and Eugene, OR.
