About Kate, Sandi, or Lynn at The Knowles Company

Cabins are part of family property with adjacent year-round home. We are long time summer residents on Mount Desert Island.

Kate, Sandi, or Lynn at The Knowles Company purchased this cabin in 1975

Why Kate, Sandi, or Lynn at The Knowles Company chose Bar Harbor

Our family began to summer on MDI in the 1950s and the love of the island has remained through the generations.

What makes this cabin unique

Rustic cabins set in cool, quiet forest with outstanding views of the ocean. Two cabins allow two separate parties or can be rented together for a larger group. From the cabin decks, you can watch eagles and osprey hunt for fish and fly to their nests nearby. Wonderful family destination.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you so much for hosting us in your BEAUTIFUL cabin! Our every need was met here, and we had all the comforts of home. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Everything from the blissful view to the games and videos you provided to the lovely way you've decorated each room.... It all helped to make our trip so memorable and special. Bar Harbor and Acadia were SO good to us this week - and so were you!

The cabin was beautiful, clean and well maintained. It sits on a gorgeous bay. The woods are quiet and peaceful. The property is exactly as advertised and is convenient to Bay Harbor and Acadia but enough off the beaten path that you can enjoy the solitude. We loved it!! Highly recommend!!!

Water-side Gem!

  • 5 of 5

We loved this place! We rented both cabins for our family - my parents and brother stayed in east cabin, we were in the west - five of use were very comfortable! The view was amazing from our decks - having access to the water was wonderful!! Our own private view of the amazing tidal changes and the lobster boats at work. The cabins were clean, well-appointed, and they even had charcoal for the grill. The beds were so comfy!!The bathrooms are a bit small, so it was perfect that we had outside showers at each cabin!! No cable, but the wifi worked very well! Not far from downtown Bar Harbor, Acadia, etc.... We WILL be back!!!

A delightful experience. We stayed in the West Cabin, with comfortable beds, a well-equipped kitchen, large deck and a stunning view over Frenchman's Bay. It is in a very private setting, very convenient to Acadia and Bar Harbor. The owners were available and provided helpful advice about things to do and see on this very special island. We look forward to future visits!

Quaint and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful pair of matching cabins on a secluded wooded lot. For our first visit to the island, we stayed in the West Cabin with our two children. Though the cabin has a rustic appearance on the outside, we felt it was well equipped and the beds were very comfortable. The owners are very welcoming and accommodating. We hope to return soon!

All Around Excellent

  • 5 of 5

Both the West Cabin and the owners were excellent. The owner welcomed us when we arrived and took the time to talk to us about the island and many of the things to see and do there. They also provided a notebook filled with useful information about vacationing on the island. The owners were staying nearby and were always available to answer questions or deal with any problems (no problems to report, however).

Terrific views from the cabin which is located a few miles from Bar Harbor but still very convenient to the town and Acadia National Park.

We are a family of four with two boys age 11 and 8.

Great cabin and very nice owners

  • 4 of 5

It was our family's first trip to Maine. We live near Buffalo, NY, it was a long drive to get there and to make matters worse, we broke down on I-95 and had a 4 hour or so delay. It was so nice to get to this cabin after our long trip and see how clean, nice and inviting it was when we arrived. The cabin had many nice features such as the propane heater (it gets kinda cool there at night), the nice shower stall with on demand hot water and everything in a kitchen you could want or need!!! Thank you for letting us visit your cabin!! It is so beautiful in Bar Harbor, look forward to seeing you again sometime in the near future.
