5 Bedroom Camp With 218 Feet Of Lakefront On A Private Lot
About Katie Cottrell
My husband and I both grew up within minutes of Ballston Lake. We love the area because it has a small town feel but still has lots of things to do. We both enjoy the outdoors. My husband is an avid fisherman and hunter. I love to golf, ski, and swim. There is always something fun going on in the area. The Saratoga Fairgrounds host a lot of different festivals and events throughout the summer and the Saratoga Racecourse really sparks Saratoga to life in July- September.
Katie Cottrell purchased this House in 2010
Why Katie Cottrell chose Ballston Lake
When we got engaged in 2010, we decided that our fairytale was not a big wedding - it was a camp on a lake. We bought this house and one month later got married in a small ceremony on the dock surrounded by our families. Since then we have spent our springs, summers, and falls, renovating and improving the property. It is currently a three season camp, although we have spent a few winter nights there- ice skating and ice fishing during the day. We have already built lots of traditions and made lots of memories at the lake, and hope to make many more over the years.
What makes this House unique
Our favorite part of the lake house is that it has become a gathering place for family and friends. Our daughter can play with her cousins. Our friends can come and stay over with their kids. There is always room for everyone to stay! There is nothing better than carrying kids to bed after a long day of swimming, and a long night of roasting marshmallows. Ok, there is one thing better - waking up and having breakfast together.

Week at the Lake
I grew up going to camp on a lake in Maine and Camp Cottrell gave me serious nostalgia. We spent the week swimming off the dock, fishing, bird watching, kayaking, playing cards inside at night. Kate was easy to get ahold of the one time during the week I had a question. Would highly recommend!
Great private spot! Plenty of space! Fishing and swimming - fun for the whole family!
Family-size home right on the water
We had a great week at the Cotrell's Cabin on Ballston Lake. Every room has a view of the lake. The house was clean and the beds were comfortable. Our 2 year old and the dog enjoyed playing in the shallow water on the boat ramp. Our 9 year old swam off the dock with the adults. We used the kayak, canoe, and paddle boat. We caught and released different kinds of fish off the big dock. The double lounge chair on the patio was my favorite spot for morning tea and relaxing. The firepit was another favorite spot for s'mores or just a quiet evening.
We Love to stay at Camp Cottrell! This was our second stay and it was great! The property is just what we wanted a camp on Ballston Lake!
Lovely setting, unfortunately, dirty towels & old food left in the refrigerator, & garbage left cans
Lovely setting, & had fun kayaking!
However, I was disappointed when I discovered that I only had two clean towels because several dirty shower towels were left in washing machine, food from previous tenant was left in refridgerator, & their trash was overflowing in the garbage can! Over all, I wouldn't return-
I tendered a cleaning deposit separate from the hefty the nonrefundable deposit! Chris
Christine- I'm sorry that you found the house under these conditions. I wish that you had communicated this to us (we leave our home and cell phone numbers both in emails and in our welcome binder). We could have either told you where more spare towels are kept, sent the cleaners back, and/or refunded your cleaning fee. As you can see from our other reviews, these conditions are the exception and certainly not the normal conditions under which the house is found.
Perfect place to get away from it all yet still be close to many fun activities!
Great for family and friends groups. Lots of space for kids to run and play - there is even a swing set for them. Endless water themed fun with swimming, fishing, kayaking, canoeing right out the front door! Interesting animal sightings, too! Turtles, frogs, herons were seen frequently. We hope to come back again.
Short drive from Saratoga Performing Arts Center (summer home of the NYC ballet and many concerts), The Saratoga County Fairgrounds (which hosts the county fair, a craft and hot air balloon festival, Irish Fest 2000 among other events), The Saratoga Race Course, The Saratoga Harness Track & Racino, downtown Saratoga shopping, Antiquing in downtown Ballston Spa, Albany-Saratoga Speedway, and hundreds of restaurants to try!
