We feel lucky to live in one of the most beautiful places on earth, and are happy to share it with others!

Why Chelcey Dunham chose Bar Harbor
This property is all of the above: woodsy/quiet/private, close to town (10 minute drive), super close to Acadia National Park (5 minute drive), and has amazing views of Eastern Bay! Past guests have loved the short distance to quiet, comfy solitude after a day in town or on the trails. As part of our eco-friendly efforts, we rely on natural, chemical free cleaning products, including irritant-free, plastic free, and organic "soap berries" (look it up! you'll love them!) for our laundry detergent. Our plastic-free garbage bags are compostable, and our recycling program is well established and easy to use. We also donate all proceeds from bottle and can redemption to our local SPCA.
What makes this Cottage unique
We can spot on any given day: Bald Eagles, Deer, Porpoise, Hummingbirds, Seals, and a variety of other birds and wildlife. Kids and adults alike LOVE the huge, solar heated, saltwater pool. We are pet friendly and pet safe (at the end of a dirt road!), and our pets are more than happy to befriend you (if you like) when you find yourself missing your pets at home.

Close to it all with restful privacy
To be fair, I have to tell you how great this place is, though I would rather keep it like a Secret Garden for myself. I hope to return with some family and rent all the cottages together. I won't tell you that Waterlily is the most idyllic, romantic place we've ever stayed. I don't want you to know about the deer crossing right in front of the deck, or the harbor seal flipping under water, or the iconic lobster boats chugging through the bay in the morning mist. The red oak acorns, pine needles, and pumpkins on the deck were the perfect autumnal greeting. If you need the shopping and nightlife, this isn't for you. If you like a lovely restful retreat from your day's activities, this is the place for you.
Peaceful and beautiful
This is our third time staying on this property and first time at Waterlily. It was wonderful to walk the rock beach daily, watch the tide come in and out, watch lobster boats, be close to area hiking and buy lobster every night. Chelcey is so kind, easy to communicate with and has thought of everything to have in the cottage. Can’t wait to come back in another few years!
Waterlily cottage 9/21-9/28
As a couple with two large dogs, couldn't ask for more from this property. Was cozy and well-stocked with everything we needed for basic meal-making (can't eat out all the time!) and living (full bath, king bed, wifi, cable TV), plus an amazing waterfront view! Would highly recommend a stay at this property to anyone who is interested in visiting Mt Desert Island and Acadia National Park - requires a bit of a drive to reach the sights, but also means you are not in the thick of all the other tourists! The water view from the cottage was also amazing - great to wake up to the sound of working lobster boats (low hum, not overly loud) or just the sight of darkness changing to light over the water (sun rises behind the cabin so no light beaming directly into the bedroom). Can't forget to mention the direct beach access (during low tide) next to the cabin, as well. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would gladly stay again.
This is an outstanding property. Beautiful views and close enough to Bar Harbor yet away from the cruise ship crowds. We spent every day in Acadia either biking or hiking. The property is very clean and comfortable. Highly recommend staying at Waterlily!
We loved every minute of our stay at this seaside cottage in Maine. The cottage was perfect.
We had a wonderful time at Waterlily
We didn’t do much. Sat on the porch, walked the waterfront at low tide. Wonderful weather. Had everything we needed. Never even turned on the TV. Read books. Rode to Acadia. Ate at suggestions of Chelsey. Amazing time.
Waterlily Cottage is located about 5 minutes away from the main entrance to Acadia National Park. 5 minutes beyond that is downtown Bar Harbor, with great restaurants and shops!
