In 2004, after years of living in New York City, my wife and I headed across the United States to put down roots in San Francisco. We wanted to live in a place that has all of benefits of a world class city, but also allowed us to take advantage of a more balanced lifestyle and everything nature has to offer. Once we arrived, we knew right away that we found our home in San Francisco.
San Francisco has the uncanny ability of being a big city that feels like a small neighborhood, and no matter where we go the city feels familiar and welcoming. The people are warm, even when the weather is not (always bring a sweater), the food is outstanding, and San Francisco's charm only grows as we explored every corner of the city and amazing surroundings.
Whatever it is that makes the city so special, it has treated us well. Since our arrival we have gotten married, had two wonderful daughters, and had the pleasure of spending the last two years in our house in the Sunset (an area that is one of San Francisco's best kept secrets).
We could not be more excited to share our home and the city that we love with you, and we hope that you will enjoy exploring and falling in love with San Francisco as much as we have.
Vanessa+Matt purchased this house in 2009
The Sunset is an amazing location that offers access to the best that San Francisco has to offer. You are right by Golden Gate Park. The dining options are unbelievable yet affordable. The public transportation has direct lines downtown, and you have direct routes to the Golden Gate bridge, The Bay Bridge, and Highway One and points down south. If you want to explore San Francisco and it its surroundings, this is the neighborhood to do it from.
No matter what your interests Golden Gate Park has something to offer everyone, and it is right outside our front door. There is hiking, running trails, bike paths, and playgrounds. Not to mention the Academy of Science and The De Young Museum which should not be missed (just minutes from our front door).
You cannot beat the Sunset neighborhood for dining options. Whether you want burger, tacos, Thai, Pho, burritos, Dim Sum or Falafel.
We are just down the road from Ocean Beach, one of San Francisco's most beautiful beaches.
Additionally, you are minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge, and all points north that include the Marin Headlands and Wine Country.
Owners were kind, flexible and helpful in every way possible. Very responsive prior to renting as well as while in the rental with answering questions. It felt like we were borrowing a friend's home. Very charming with a lot of character. House was clean. Enough space where we were able to be close but to get away and have our own space. We did not have any issues with the house during our stay. My husband, 3 year old and my parents and I stayed at this rental. It almost felt like being at a beach house for some reason, very relaxing. Quiet during the day and night. So many wonderful stores and restaurants within a block or two. Right across the street from Golden Gate Park. If we come back to San Francisco will see if this property is available first.
Wonderful rental. Very well located, close to Golden Gate Park, close to restaurants, grocery stores and commercial area. The home was very clean and spacious. The small children loved the sun porch with playthings. Large dining room and dining table. Having two parking spaces was a huge advantage. Our family had a very enjoyable weekend in a very comfortable rental that felt like home. Would definitely recommend.
This beautiful home looks exactly like the pictures - you will not be disappointed upon arrival.
The owners are extremely easy to work with, and even texted shortly after our arrival to make sure everything went OK. So nice!
The house is perfect. We had 6 people (2 couples and 2 single 20-somethings) and the bed situation worked out perfectly (one queen/full, one king, and bunk beds). The living room was comfortable to hang out in, and there is a really nice large dining table where we could all sit around and enjoy a nice meal. The kitchen is functional - maybe not big enough or well-equipped enough for gourmet meals, but we had no trouble making eggs in the mornings and having a larger gathering for dinner at night.
Plus, the location is great. If you're interested in wandering Golden Gate Park, this is the place to be! Beautiful trails just a block away - it's really an awesome location.
We had a minor issue (kitchen floor was still sticky from prior renter) and they were awesome in dealing with it by refunding our cleaning deposit right away and apologizing profusely. Really nice people who know how to treat their renters!
Stay here - no regrets!
This a wonderful house, particularly for a family with small children. The proximity to Golden Gate Park, dining, and other necessities (if not distractions) was a key component to an excellent stay. The house itself accommodates adults and kids very well (we were 4 adults and 3 kids under age 5 years), with perfect spaces for little people to play - it is clean, spacious, and quiet, which was very welcome at the end of activity-packed days. And, while everything you could need is essentially within walking distance, we happened to have two cars (an extended length van and a mini-van) - the dedicated parking was thus a tremendous boon. The owners are extremely responsive and just plain nice, to boot!! I would recommend this spot as a place that is central to attractions for a very good value.
My family, which includes three kids under 5 and a nanny, stayed here for a whole month this summer. We couldn't have asked for a better home to base ourselves in. The proximity to the park, the restaurants, and the streetcar access made the location ideal. The house was wonderful - between the kids room and the sun rooms it was a wonderful place to return home. The owners went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and answered all of our questions and needs right away. We will certainly return to this home when we come back to SF!!
Some friends and I stayed here in August. The house was perfect and and the owners very accommodating. I would stay here again. The location of the house could not get any better. Easy access to anything you want to see or do in San Francisco.
