Overview

About the property

House, 5 Bedrooms, 4 Baths, (Sleeps 11)

This charming -stone built- Provencal house, dates back to the 18th century, and is a perfect setting for family and friends reunions. The 'mas' is a three level structure, two of which offer direct access to the landscaped garden. It has been restored over the years with much love and Mediterranean flair. The vaulted ceiling living room is partially underground and remains deliciously cool even in the heart of summer. Deep stone walls and well insulated roofs maintain a comfortable temperature throughout summer.

Grain was once milled in what is now the vaulted ceiling living room, and the upper floor was used to farm silk worms, fed from the several magnificent mulberry trees which still surround the house and provide shade. The large garden (6000 m2) full of Mediterranean essences, has an olive grove, fruit trees, a traditionally shaped dry stone well, and a 12x6m pool.

Description:

5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms + 2 separate toilets. All windows have screens.

- The arched front door opens into a large kitchen with a dining table (seats 8). The kitchen was completely remodeled recently and is fully equipped with cooker, oven, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher etc. For those wishing to cook gourmet meals made from local produce, you will find plenty of serving plates, dishes, pots, pans and utensils, all pantry basics such as oils, vinegar, sugar, salt, pepper and spices as well as dishwasher liquid, soaps, etc.

A combination of stone and glazed walls, stone floors, and large glass doors overlooking the garden and its stone well, make this room especially welcoming in the afternoon light.

- Off the kitchen, you will find a pantry and a separate toilet.

- Two steps down, an arched door will lead you to the large dining/living room. It features a large stone pillar which supports the vaulted ceiling, and is partially underground. The room is anchored by an imposing open fireplace, is elegantly but comfortably furnished, has a dining table (seats 12), and an antique upright piano. Television with French canal satellite channels only and DVD/VCR, CD player and broadband internet is provided. An arched wooden door leads to the wine cellar.

- A wide terracotta and stone staircase leads to the first floor which comprises:

o Large landings offering beautiful views of the garden and Lacoste village,

o Large Master bedroom with open fire place and direct access to the garden, queen size (160cm) bed.

o En suite large walk-in closet and remodeled bathroom with full size bath, shower over, bowl sink and toilet.

o Access to the laundry room with washing machine, dryer, sink and line dry

o Access to the garage.

- A picturesque staircase leads to the second floor landing. That floor has been entirely remodeled with glazed walls and unique whimsical details and comprises:

o 2nd Master bedroom with beautiful views over Lacoste and the garden, that includes a queen bed (160cm) and an 'in-suite' remodeled small bathroom (with shower, bowl sink & toilet)

o Remodeled large bathroom with walk-in pebbled floor shower, bowl sink & toilet,

o A second landing leads to 3 more bedrooms:

La magnaneraie is the 3rd master bedroom with an 'in-suite' bathroom (shower, bowl sink & toilet); It overlooks the olive grove, boasts majestic views of the Mont Ventoux and has a queen bed (160cm). The large children's room has 3 single beds and a mezzanine that can be used as a playroom, and the 5th bedroom has two twin beds.

- Outside, a round table made of stone seats 6 under a mulberry tree

- Two large rectangular tables are also provided on the stone paved patio by the kitchen. (seats 12)

- The pool has an automated rolling cover and the pool house features an additional toilet and an open shower.

- 24/7 security system on the premises.

A relaxing holiday for three generations

  • 4 of 5

Les Moulins is a very comfortable, spacious residence in a most attractive part of the Luberon. There is easy access to a main road, quick entry to the nearest town and close proximity to several places of interest . The house, itself, has great character and the owners have made sure that all possible needs are met. It is obvious that much thought has gone into making sure that one is treated as a welcome guest. We were warmly greeted and both arrival and departure were made to fit our particular travel needs. The attractive garden and pool were much used. There is a very large living room which was not used very much by us as the sunny kitchen and terrace were too much of a draw. We found restaurants to cope easily with a group of eleven - at Bonnieux and at Café de France in Lacoste . It really helped to keep a high standard of provision having mid-week cleaning and pool- cleaning services. We would have no hesitation in re-visiting or in recommending to friends. With a little additional upgrading to the spacious master suite we would consider it "five star".

Owner's Response: We were delighted to welcome you and are glad you enjoyed your stay on our property. As a result of the extensive renovation done over the years, the master bedroom had indeed become a bit dated compared to the rest of the house. We are pleased to let you know that its turn has come: the master suite is being upgraded as we speak! Thanks again.

Oasis in the Luberon

  • 5 of 5

" Les Moulins is a wonderful private home set amidst the quiet hills of the Luberon Valley, one of France's hidden treasures. The property itself is superb - well situated for exploring the key market towns on the immediate area, as well as being within reasonable striking distance of major towns like Avignon, Aix, St Remy, Orange, Vaison-la-Romaine, Sault, etc. Now for the home itself, it did feel almost like home away from home, for the owners were very thoughtful in preparing for our stay and ensuring we were well looked after. The kitchen is well supplied with essential equipment & plenty of plates and cutlery, so we weren't forever running the dishwasher. There are several areas for dining inside and out, and that was appreciated. Indeed, I think the photos of the kitchen and dining room don't give you a sense of the large space available... and then there is a large living room. Not that we were indoors very much, but late into the evening it was great to escape the heat in the cool lounge areas. The pool is excellent, as is the hammock and gardens and general grounds were all well tended. While the property is right off a semi-main town road, we rarely heard cars and it was very quiet during the day and in the evening. Indeed, so quiet that sleeping with the windows open was the norm ... and thank goodness for the window screens! A welcome improvement over other houses. We were a party of six adults and used four of the five bedrooms, and felt we had plenty of room. Count yourself lucky if you manage to secure a week at Les Moulins .. it really is a wonderful holiday home and I am already trying to plan a return visit!"

Geschmackvolles Provencetraumhaus

  • 5 of 5
