Wish I had a boat!
This A frame cottage is a great find. Very clean and well appointed. Three baths are a huge plus. Central air was also a bonus, especially as the master is located in the upper loft. When we arrived it was 80 degrees up there but the AC soon took care of that. One important note is that the master is not private. No walls or door, although they do provide a privacy screen. Still, sounds travel and it's not very private. There is one small bedroom that can be closed off. It's rather dark in there with a smaller bed so it's definitely not the Master.
In the basement, there are two pull out couches, a day bed with trundle and a fold away bed. Only issue was the posts didn't allow one of the couch beds to open, which meant a lot of rearranging. Not much can be done about that. We made it work and had four teens sleep down there. The laundry is also down there.
The deck is very nice but I would suggest more comfortable furniture out there. It's teak which looks nice but sitting on it is another thing. We ended up bringing the camp chairs up and using those.
Overall we highly recommend. The cottage was a great find for us. Colleen was responsive and easy to deal with. Thank you.
Clean, relaxing environment and friendly
My wife and I loved the property and even had a chance to have lunch with the owners. Both Colleen and Bill are so down to earth and fun loving people. This property was perfect.
Thanks Skip! We enjoyed meeting you both, and hope to do it again soon. Loved having you both as renters.
Nice house with a great dock.
The Ultimate home for a boater!
This house has one of the nicest docks that I have ever seen. That is not all that is has going for it. The house itself is even better than the pictures. It is perfectly equipped with every thing you will need to cook with, grill with, relax with. The house sits up overlooking the far end of a pond with just the occasional sound of a motor running at wake speed. It is a magical setting. Every detail of this house has been meticulously considered.
The house sits at the far end of a pond with easy access to the open water. By boat, you go under a bridge that is 11 feet at high tide. The dock has at least 30 inches of water at low tide, we brought a 32 foot cabin cruiser in and out with no problem. It is an easy cruise to Martha's Vineyard from there about an hour door to door to Edgartown at 18 knots.
I highly recommend this house to anyone yearning for the sensation of a cool ocean breeze on a hot day. For a boater, you will think you are in heaven.
Lovely place, great location
This place was such a great find!!
Cons: Really, only one. Like the previous entry, booking it was a little inconvenient since they don't take credit card. I had an added complication, as my party arriving was Canadian, so we had to work out the conversion rate and send it via money order AND we couldn't purchase insurance so we had to pay a substantial security deposit (via cheque).
Pros: With all the above said, it was pretty simple to actually send the money through and complete the booking. I was re-assured that our security deposit would only be cashed if there was any damage. We were fine.
Though I never met Colleen, she was accessible and kind. The property itself was perfect. A nice, cozy space, but spacious enough for 2 small families. The place was clean (immaculate) and in a great location. The pictures don't do it justice.
If I go back to the area, I would definitely stay here again.
This accommodation is great however booking can be a bit ...well, a pain. I hesitated when i found this place because there was no reviews at all, so here i am. The house is beautiful and all of us LOVE the view of the river and the dock at the back. The owner does not accept internet payment so only cash or check by mail. Plus, no contract or receipt whatsoever! (I mailed the owner a check.) Anyway, the house exists and we finally stayed there, just a matter of a piece of mind. Fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer and plenty of towels. The place seems like it has not been visited that often so dust here and there and a few lights that did not work. I did not mind cleaning up a bit but still.. keep that in mind. The river at the back and the little bridge were GORGEOUS! definitely a perfect photo opportunity for photography lovers. There were also ducks and swans. Comfy beds and extra futons in the basement. Garage and on street parking available. Shaw's supermarket and Walmart within 2 miles. Overall great stay.
Martha's Vineyard is a short Ferry ride from Falmouth Harbor to Oak Bluffs or Edgartown. Nantucket is a short Ferry ride from Hyannis Harbor. Fishing Charters are available in all harbors. The Coonamessett River is perfect for boating and kayaking, and boats or kayaks can be stored on your private dock on the Coonamessett River in front of the house. Mashpee Commons and downtown Falmouth are nearby shopping areas, and good restaurants abound in Woods Hole, Falmouth, and Hyannis; all a short drive from the house.
