This is a charming 1000 sq ft cottage with bay views and bay breezes. You are a 600 foot walk to the bay beach and a few blocks to the restaurants, shops, harbor, fishing pier, spa, gym, theater and marina. This is the quiet end of town and the yard is fenced in so pets are considered. Watch the sunset over the bay while sitting on your own back deck. 3 bedrooms- 1 downstairs with queen bed, 2 upstairs bedrooms, One with two twin beds and the other with one twin bed. 1 bathroom downstairs with tub/shower combo.(installed 2013). Comfortable, airy living room, small well-equipped kitchen, dining room, Utility room with washer/dryer.

The steps to the second floor are on the steep side. Elderly or very small children should be monitored.

Propane grill and 2 person kayak in yard. Wifi Internet/DishTV/DVD/CD. Romantic, cozy and clean. Street parking for your car and boat. Charter a fishing boat or walk to the pier and fish for free. Pelican Watch Cottage has breathing room on each side. The neighborhood is one of the quietest areas in the town. Sunsets are spectacular from the back deck or from down on the beach. The house is on the north end of the beach, and we love watching the seagulls and pelicans and other shore birds perching on the pilings from the old ferry dock.

Cape Charles is well poised for day trips to Chincoteague, Virginia Beach and Williamsburg.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We spent 3 nights in this lovely Cape Charles cottage. It is nicely decorated with beach art. The kitchen is well equipped. There is a view of the bay from the living room. It is a short block to walk to the beach and an easy walk to restaurants and shops. Hope to come back soon.

Adorable house in a perfect location

  • 5 of 5

Everything you need for a relaxing weekend away. The photos don't do it justice as this place is simply too cute and furnished perfectly for the space. Fit 4 adults and a toddler with no issues.

Comfortable cottage, convenient location.

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay here. The cottage was just what we were looking for, right sized, clean, close to the beach and comfortable. The neighborhood was nice and quiet and a short walk to the beach--two very short blocks. You can see the dunes from the front yard and back yard deck.

Very comfortable couch and chair in the living room and comfortable bed in the main bedroom. Quiet air conditioners and ceiling fans kept us comfortable when it was warm outside.

This was our first visit to Cape Charles and we enjoyed it. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful, giving us tips about places to visit. Will definitely consider coming back.

Okay but .....

  • 3 of 5

House was okay, clean , and with features expected (linen, washer/dryer, etc.). What it lacked was an outdoor shower and off street parking. The person who cut the lawn at this rental sprayed wet grass over the entire one side of my new car; I was very annoyed to say the least.

Based on the lack of outdoor shower , only one bath/shower in house, evidence of an animal , we feel the unit may be a bit overpriced compared to others we have rented.

Owner's Response: We are very careful in describing our homes and their amenities. The description is very clear that the home has 1 bathroom. There is no outdoor shower listed as an amenity, on street parking is listed and the home is pet friendly. Based on the location of the home and the charm it offers, the home is very well priced for the area.

The management company never responded to problems identified and cleaning service didn't do well

I love the town snd area. The owners could do a better job of making the home more accommodating by fixing the blinds and ensuring all A.C. units are working correctly.

Owner's Response: The day of check in, we were notified the A/C on the second floor was not cooling. We went to the property immediately and checked the filters and settings and reset both units. They both seemed to be operating properly. The out door temperature was in the upper nineties and the room temperature was 74 which is an acceptable temperature difference. We have had no other complaints before or after. The blind was replaced as soon as we were able to obtain one.

Allowing our dogs made the stay the best.

  • 4 of 5

The second floor stairs are dangerous and after a fall we blocked the second floor for the rest of the week. The views are incredible from the cottage. The dining room is very comfortable. The living room is cozy but not too tight. The TV could use a few more channels. The soaking tub was lovely. The washer/dryer were great. The laundry room & kitchen suffered heat overload with no cover on windows but we used paper towel and tape, moved the fans and the house remained comfortable after that. The proximity of the beach was awesome. The people in town were great, very friendly, and the boutique businesses were great fun to explore. The table with large umbrella on the back deck, the fenced yard, made evenings great. This is a lovely little treasure but the ladder like stairs to the second floor should be addressed for safety's sake.
