About Jill Warila
We live in on the north side of Mt Hood in the small farming community of Parkdale, Oregon. On 23 acres, we raise grass fed beef, chickens, and raise our own hay. Steve works at Mt Hood Meadows and Jill works as a studio potter at home. Of three kids only one remains at home and is in middle school. Steve enjoys kiting in the columbia river and we often come to Manzanita if the wind is blowing! We think we have the best of the best having a home in the upper Hood River Valley and a home in Manzanita.
Jill Warila purchased this House in 2010
Why Jill Warila chose Neahkahnie Beach
We have strong ties to the North Oregon coast. Steve grew up on the Young's River in Astoria and Jill's mother has owned a second home in Manzanita for 30+ years. We have had many wonderful times fishing, hiking and walking the beautiful beach. We have watched the area become a successful business district but still retain that small beach town feeling that is hard to find. When it became our turn to buy a second home in Manzanita we had a few requirements: it needed to have an ocean view, a wind sheltered deck and be within walking distance to beach access. We found all of those requirements and more in Whitecaps.

I loved our stay at the Whitecaps place. It was perfect for us We enjoyed the hiking close by and walking the beach into Manzanita and just walking the beach. The place was clean and provided for all our needs. We did not cook but the kitchen had what would be needed. Thank you for sharing.
Relaxing family retreat
With access to the beach nearby and a short drive to Manzanita, it was the perfect location for our family retreat. We enjoyed cooking our meals and eating out on the deck with views of Neahkahnie.
Relaxing and rejuvenating at Whitecaps
We've been staying in Manzanita for many years, but this was our first time at Whitecaps. We immediately felt right at home. The well-stocked kitchen, the clean and comfortable furnishings, the great deck, pet bedding for our four-legged beach buddy: all the necessities and attention to detail that add up to a special stay at the beach -- thank you, Jill and Steve, for being such thoughtful and generous hosts!
Very clean and well outfitted small house!
Wonderful get away for 4 adults. Not a good disabled house, steep stairs to living quarters. The house had a very well stocked kitchen down to spices and condiments and every gadget one would need to prepare a good meal! The deck has a wonderful view of the sunsets over the ocean. We enjoyed our retreat a great deal in this comfortable home!
This was our second time at White Caps... and we loved every single second of it. The house is very well maintained, kitchen very well equipment in everything! it is a real home away from home, which is important if you are coming with kids! W/D, coffee maker etc. house was spotless when we arrived! just A+ standards!
Nice beach house
This beach house is very comfortable and cozy. It had every thing that we needed. We were allowed to bring our dog so that made our vacation wonderful!!!!!!
Only thing I would add is some sort of blinds or curtain in the dinning room slider to block the sun. Temp on Saturday was only 73 Degrees but the whole house became uncomfortably hot despite opening all windows and having fan on.
Thank you for your input on adding some shades to the sliding doors to our deck. This was the first summer after losing our big coastal pine in front of the house which kept the house cool during the few days of hot weather. We are looking into the best option for shading the sliding doors that will fit this high traffic area of the house.
Beach access is just a block away, take along the beach toys, kites, and beach towels , all located in the garage. Ride the bikes or walk ten minutes into the heart of Manzanita for coffee & pastries, shopping at the boutiques, natural foods store, two bookstores, great yarn shop, dog store, wine bar, gallery. Close to Nahalem bay for crabbing, fishing, kayaking and clamming, Short sands is just a few miles north and is one of the best surfing spots on the north coast. Paddle boarding, windsurfing, kiteboarding, just steps away. Manzanita community park has, tennis court , sand volleyball court, basket ball and raquetball court, large childrens playground. Horseback riding in the spring and summer at Nehalem state park
