Duplex, 2 Bedrooms + Sofabed, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 1 - 6)
Built in 1919 and meticulously restored in 2011, this elegant duplex abounds with vintage style and charm. One of the first homes to be built on the block, the view of Los Feliz and the many authentic period details are not to be missed.
This listing is for the top floor (2 BR/1BA). If you need more room, see VRBO #412795 for the lower apartment, and/or VRBO #303778 for our nearby cottage.
Craftsman windows span the entire width of the building, giving you straight-arrow views of the Hollywood sign and the Observatory. The ceilings are 10 feet high with large windows in every room. The kitchen is farmhouse style, with a restored antique stove, original cabinetry, and a salvaged wood bar. The bathroom has a full size tub and plenty of space. Outside, you have your own deck with built-in benches and a small front yard that is secure and private, opening out to Griffith Park Blvd, just 2 blocks north of Sunset Junction in Silverlake.
Sunset Junction is a neighborhood hub, with Cafe Stella and Intelligentsia coffee, as well as a boutique called Driftwood, the Silverlake Conservatory of Music, and the Silverlake Cheese store. Even closer is Cafe Casbah, Forage, Pazzo Gelato, Naturewell, and Vacation Vinyl records. We have the Silverlake Farmer's market once a week, right around the corner. There is a wealth of great boutiques, restaurants, and bars within an easy (slight downhill) 5 minute walk from the building.
For kids, there is Shane's Inspiration, pony rides, a carousel, the Zoo, and the Museum of the West just 2.2 miles from the building in Griffith Park.

About Robin Wallace and Tim Snowber
We began restoring buildings in Silverlake in 1997, but it's been a lifelong passion. Tim has a background in set decorating and woodworking. Robin has a background in Art Direction and loves gardening. We use salvaged/eco-friendly building materials, antique furnishings, and green cleaning products whenever possible. We have many years of experience as landlords and hosts, and are known for being responsive, service-minded, and reasonable with pricing and management.

Why Robin Wallace and Tim Snowber chose Silver Lake
We love this part of Silver Lake because we can walk almost everywhere we need to go, but when we need to drive, the 5, 101, 110, and 134 freeways are very close by. We've always loved the trees, the architecture, and the neighborhood feel of Silver Lake.
What makes this Apartment unique
There's an innate sense of calm in this building, maybe because it's held up for almost 100 years. We love the view, the convenience, and the proximity to the 'flow' of the city. It makes for great work and family trips. Whether you are interested in architecture, sightseeing, music, food, wine, artisan boutiques, or the outdoors, Silver Lake has all of this and more to offer... we love this building in particular because it's so central and it has great character and style.

Cozy and comfortable!
This Silver Lake bungalow was the perfect place to spend Christmas in LA! We loved it the moment we walked in....the fresh air filling the space, the wonderful windows, the cozy living room....we must have said a dozen times that we would love actually living in this house! The kitchen was well stocked with the basics I needed to recreate our Christmas traditions from home, which was appreciated by all! We all slept beautifully in the comfortable beds....the crisp sheets and cozy comforter felt like a cocoon. We loved walking through Silver Lake each morning, as well as visiting restaurants and shops later in the day. Easy access to the freeway, as well as various attractions throughout LA. I highly recommend this home and would definitely stay here again!
Comfortable, charming home.
The house was charming and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable, the view was great and we were able to park in front of the house. Only complaint was that it was a little further from the nice restaurants than I expected, if you were walking, drive was short. All and all it was a very nice stay. Thanks for letting us stay.
A really pleasant place to stay!
Very clean and comfortable for us and our dog. Great views, great neighborhood. Highly recommend this sweet place.
Our three night stay was great, very clean and well supplied. I was afraid I would have to climb a lot of steps but found it was at street level with easy access. It has a great view out of the glassed in sun room. Only wished there was a dish pan and soap to wash the dishes. Otherwise everything was perfect. I would stay there again.
Love that house!
The house is perfectly located, and is so cute and functional!
Cute craftsman with a lot of charm
House was very clean, kitchen was well stocked.
Parking was hit and miss.
House could use some more towels if you have more than two people staying or a longer stay you will need to do laundry.
This property is 2 blocks from Sunset Junction with all of the cafes, restaurants and boutiques, and 2 miles from Griffith Park, with hiking trails, horseback riding, the Zoo, the Observatory, the Autry Museum, Travel Town, the Carousel, and Shane's Inspiration. Loads of fun for everyone. It's also nearby Frank Lloyd Wright's Hollyhock House in Barnsdall Park, MOCA, Disney Hall, The Echo/Echoplex and all that Echo Park has to offer. Plus all of the great things Hollywood has to offer: Universal Studios, the Walk of Fame, Arclight Cinema and Amoeba Music. As well as DTLA (downtown LA): Disney Hall, Museum of Contemporary Art, the Broad Museum, newly re-furbished Cliftons restaurant and the Grand Central Markey. Lots to look forward to!
