A spacious 155 sq. m 3 bedroom apartment with two bathrooms.

A beautiful and bright 3 bedroom 155 sq. metres basement apartment with accomodation for 6 guests. The apartment is in a beautiful, historic house located right in the centre of town. It was fully renovated in 2005 in a beautifully blended classic and modern style by the owner and his daughter who are both architects. The kitchen is fully equipped with a stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, etc. Two of the bedrooms have double beds (queen size) and one has two single beds. A baby cot is available in the apartment and can easily fit into either of the two larger bedrooms. There is also a studio couch in the TV-lounge. The main bathroom has a shower in the bathtub, wc and wash basin. The second bathroom has a shower, wc, wash basin and a washing machine. Both bathrooms are provided with a hair dryer. Two bathtowels are provided for each guest. There’s a wireless internet connection in the apartment and a TV in the TV-lounge. The TV has a built in DVD player. A storage room is provided for your suitcases. There is a clothes dryer in the store room. In front of the apartment there is a small patio with a table and chairs in the summertime. There are two bicycles available for guests.

About Pall V. Bjarnaon

I am a self employed architect in Reykjavik and my wife, Sigga, is an editor with the University of Iceland press. We like to travel around the world and our country. We have stayed in rented apartments in Europe and think this is a brilliant way of travelling. It opens another dimension in travelling. We have three daughters and eight grandchildren. I would describe us as sociable people who like to meet other people. I am very fond of classical music and attend concerts of the Icelandic symphony orchestra on a regular basis.

Why Pall V. Bjarnaon chose Reykjavik

I am a restoration architect and we bought this house literally in ruins and restored it. You could see it was a beautiful house with a great location right in the center. Everything is within reach for us the owners as well as for people who stay in the apartment.

What makes this apartment unique

The house was built in 1918 in a traditional decorative neo-baroc style and we have recently restored the basement apartment in the 1920s style, mixed with brand new design furniture and luxurious beds. The location is perfect for guests while staying in Reykjavik. You don´t need a car and if you need we have two extra bicycles for our guests. In front there is a small patio with a table and chairs exclusively for our guests in the summer.

Ideal location; centrally located on a quiet street

Perfect fit for family of 5; with 3 younger children. Very functional and clean property. We did not get a chance to meet the owners but the care and design of the rental illustrated a lot of thoughtfulness for their renters.

Location was ideal for us. Easy walk to everything. At the same time, it was a quiet street for a family.

We have stayed at many VRBO-type properties. Only noted improvement request is perhaps more information provided in the welcome package on local dining, must-see recommended tours, etc. It is always nice to get a personal, local recommendation.

Wonderful apartment in the city center

Our family of 4 was very comfortable in this lovely apartment. It was situated within an easy walk of the main shopping/restaurant street. The apartment was large and well appointed, with everything we needed for our three-day stay. Truly great place.

Perfect location to visit Reykjavik

This apartment is a great deal in downtown Reykjavik. It is about a block from the downtown area and a block from the US Embassy in the other direction. There are two very comfortable bedrooms for couples, plus a twin room for kids or singles. The kitchen was great for fixing our own breakfast. Internet worked pretty well in the morning, less so in the evening. Parking is convenient right in front of the house--not free, but not super expensive either.

Pall is very responsive to questions and emails. Unfortunately we didn't get to meet him on this trip as he was vacationing out of the country. We did meet his very charming daughter Rosa who was very helpful.

This is an old renovated house, and floors have alot of uneven transitions--be careful moving around it. We set up a light to remind us of a major step down between the bedroom and the bathroom. One other caution--the bathtub has a bad curve to it which makes it very treacherous, especially when you are wet and soapy. I suggest the owners put something like a slip resistant mat in the tub to improve the safety.

We ate at Three Coats (Prir Frikkar) one night and it was fantastic. We will always eat here when we come to Reykjavik.

If I return to Reykjavik--and I suspect I will--I would be happy to stay here again.

A beautiful and bright 3 bedroom apartment with accomodation for 6 people. The apartment is in a beautiful, historical house located right in the centre of town next to the central pond. Minutes walk to shops, restaurants, cafes, museums and art galleries and the old harbour. Tourist information offices and souvenier shops within miutes walk from the apartment.
