Spacious Cape Overlooking John's Bay

Bedrooms 4
Property type house

About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (6 people maximum)

Beautiful, tastefully furnished, open concept cape, built in 2000. The home is located in the upscale neighborhood of the Seawood Park Association. The spacious yard is just steps from John's Bay, with 1000 feet of frontage with walking trails and a pebble beach for your enjoyment.

The downstairs is completely open, and there are expansive views of John's Bay from nearly every point on the first floor. The well-appointed custom kitchen features corian countertops and a breakfast bar. One step down is the cathredal ceilinged great room. Each of the four bedrooms has a ceiling fan. Two of the upstairs bedrooms have private balconies with views of the bay.

Watch the sunsets from the western facing deck or enjoy a cocktail as you grill your steaks on the stone patio underneath the pergola.

Just a mile down the road is the iconic Pemaquid Point Lighthouse, the model for the Maine state quarter. A mile in the other direction is a half-mile sandy beach. Just on the other side of the peninsula is New Harbor, the setting for the movie 'Message in a Bottle'. A boat to Monhegan Island departs daily in the summer from here.

There are plenty of restaurants to choose from within just a few miles, as well as art galleries and gift shops.

Camden and Rockland are just 45 minutes to the north, and Boothbay Harbor and Freeport are 45 minutes to the south.

The house can be a base for daytrips, or just stay and enjoy the views, the quiet, and the ambiance.

About The Owner

I have been vacationing in the Pemaquid area since I was a baby. My husband and I continued this tradition with our two children. We always dreamed of someday having a home in this beautiful area.

The Owner purchased this house in 2000

Why The Owner chose New Harbor

The house was built by my husband from plans that we drew up ourselves. It was our own dream home brought to life. We wanted it to be comfortable and welcoming while still keeping the feeling of a traditional Maine home.

Beautiful House with Spectacular Sunsets in Tranquil Setting

  • 5 of 5

This was the 14th year in a row we have stayed for two weeks in the beautifully decorated, fully equipped, very comfortable home. So one might gather we like it. Really nothing is missing for a relaxing Maine vacation. Two lobster pounds nearby, other good places to eat, Pemaquid Light, the epitome of scenic Maine, a mile down the road. As the Maine slogan goes, "Life as it should be lived."

Beautiful Home in Seawood Park

  • 5 of 5

I have to echo another reviewer in that the best endorsement of this beautiful house is that we rented it for 1-2 weeks each summer from 2002 to 2010. This house is impeccably decorated, perfectly designed, very comfortable and in an absolutely great location. The neighborhood is beautiful and the sunsets defy description. There is also a common beach/coastal area that provides access to the beach and has a beautiful coastal walk the length of the development. There is plenty to do in the area with great restaurants and shopping in Wiscassett and Boothbay to the south, Damariscotta locally, and Rockland, Rockport and Camden to the North, all within an hour or so drive. In addition, within just a few miles, there are several great restaurants, a historic fort, a famous lighthouse and a public beach.

I have rented other houses in the area over the years and this house by far has been the best. All in all this is just a great place. Highest recommendation.

Lovely Home at Pemaquid Point

  • 5 of 5

It's hard to find such an updated rental in this area. The home is situated on a beautiful corner lot with a grass lawn like a golf course. It's an open floor plan cape cod with a gorgeous water view. The home is one of the most well stocked homes we have rented and was clean and ready for our visit. We would definitely recommend this home to anyone.

A Wonderful Place to Experience Maine

  • 5 of 5

Perhaps the best endorsement of this wonderful house is that we have spent 1 or 2 weeks there each of the past 9 years! The house is extremely comfortable, furnished and supplied with everything needed – and then more. The decks are most comfortable. I have taken from the deck and yard 100+ images of the sunset over John’s Bay, each more spectacular than the other. The grounds are nicely landscaped, and the house is surrounded by flowers. The house is in a development that is filled with upscale houses, all well maintained. Lobsters, good restaurants, and scenic views are within a few miles. This is Maine at its best. You will not regret renting this property – just don’t take our weeks!
