Historic Home Located in City of Annandale

Bedrooms 4
Half Baths1
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms + Sleeping Porch, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 7)

This recently remodeled two-story home is located in Annandale, a rural town one hour west of the Twin Cities, that is known as the “Heart of the Lakes”. There are over 25 lakes within 15 minutes of town including some of the top fishing and recreation lakes in the area – Clearwater, Sylvia, Pleasant, Cedar, Sugar, etc. This property is ½ block from a large city park with playground, pavilion, and ball fields. It is only one block to the public beach, fishing pier, and boat landing on Pleasant Lake. And it is only a short three block walk to downtown Annandale with its shopping and dining.

The house was recently renovated including a major addition and is well-suited for a family or group visiting the Annandale area. There are three bedrooms upstairs including a large master bedroom with private bath, DirectTV, and deck. The main floor has a full kitchen, dining room, living room w/ wood-burning fireplace, and TV room/extra bedroom. It also has a heated porch off the kitchen and a screen porch off the living room each with a bed. There is a patio and a two-car garage for guests to use.

The entire house has Culligan soft water.

The Annandale area is teeming with activities and points of interest. There are three golf courses, Southbrook (18 holes), Whispering Pines (18 holes), and the Albion Ridges “links” course (27 holes), all within a 5-15 minute drive. The Powder Ridge ski area and Millner Heritage winery are also only a short 15 minute drive from town. The numerous lakes in the area provide opportunities for all types of water activities, such as kayaking on the nearby Mississippi River. Clearwater and Sylvia are among the best fishing lakes in central Minnesota. Annandale is also known for its huge 4th of July celebration and its annual Triathlon. And the Wright County Swapper’s Meet, one of the largest “flea markets” in the state, is located just outside of town and operates every Saturday from April through October. Snowmobile enthusiasts are only minutes away from access to Minnesota's extensive trail system.

You can stay in a small town, away from the hustle and bustle of a big city, yet you are close enough to sample all a big city has to offer. It is only 30 minutes to the city of St. Cloud, home of St. Cloud State University. And the Twin Cities Metro area is only a one hour drive away. The attractions there include Valley Fair, the Minnesota Zoo, Guthrie Theatre, Walker Art Center, Science Museum of MN, Renaissance Festival, professional sports (Twins, Vikings, Wild, Timberwolves, Lynx), and many others. Shoppers can visit the Mall of America, the Albertville Outlet Mall, and Cabella’s as well as many other shops and malls. And for those who prefer not to drive into the metro area, the commuter train station in Big Lake is only 25 minutes away.

Annandale is a wonderful place to vacation in any season and for a little more than the cost of a hotel room, you can stay in a 2,500sq. ft. house on a large 100 foot corner wooded lot and experience all the area has to offer with all the comforts of home.

Very comfortable home in an EXCELLENT location! Will come again!

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed the raised deck off the master bedroom the most, as well as the location. The home is just steps away from a great park and the swim beach at Pleasant Lake! The house came fully stocked, clean, and was very welcoming!

I am glad we came at the beginning of the summer since the house did not have central air conditioning. We were able to stay cool at night in our rooms with window air conditioner units (the temps reached 88 degrees a few days during our stay).

Excellent choice for a stay and we will for sure come back when visiting family in Annandale, MN!

Great Winter Get-Away

  • 5 of 5

This retreat was perfect for us. My husband's family lives in town and this gave us the space to welcome everyone and visit in a homey setting. We found the kitchen and equipment did the job just fine then had plenty of space to visit. I hope on our next trip will also be able to stay in this house.

Would not recommend

  • 3 of 5

3 of us stayed in the spacious home. It was big enough for us to stretch out and NOT get in each others way. I do not like leaving a bad review, but I do want others to know what we experienced. The humidity in the home was unbearable, I had a hard time sleeping :( A dehumidifier would have been nice. The air could not keep up with the heat nor the humidity. Also, if you are allergic or sensitive to mold or mildew this is not the home for you. It's an older home and has some neat features, but I was sick the entire trip and my mom visited the basement and she said she saw mold down there. I KNOW the older part of the home upstairs had mildew smell to it and made me more ill to be in those 2 bedrooms. I slept in the newer added on bedroom and was much better. Also, the water pressure varied from day to day, some days it was strong, the next it was so weak it was hard to wash dishes. The space is awesome, if the owner would just address a few simple issues. You should be able to get rid of the mold/mildew issue fairly easy with a trained professional!

Owner's Response: Melissa, Thank you for your review. Is it possible you posted your review on the wrong property for our home is closed January - April for the winter? Thank you, Leah Mullen Assistant to Richard B. Peterson Melissa C. stayed at our property in Annandale on July 16, 2016 for three nights. She submitted a review on March 2, 2017 almost 8 months later. Her review included some compliments and also identified three specific problem areas. The first problem area was uneven water pressure when hand washing dishes in the kitchen. Actually the house has excellent water pressure as a new water line was installed in recent years. The problem was with the faucet which we replaced shortly following her stay. We have Culligan soft water as well as a dish washer. At the time of Melissa's stay we had three window air conditioning units in the house. Later last summer, we added a fourth new unit. As this is an large house, it is important that the air conditioners be turned on early in the day. Perhaps, this was the main cause of Melissa's discomfort. At any rate, our manager in Annandale will be in contact with future renters so they fully utilize the four AC units. Lastly, Melissa obviously suffers from allergies including mold and mildew. I sympathize with her because as a child growing up in this house I experienced very serious hay fever from grass and weed pollen in late summer until the first frost in this area. It would appear unlikely that there was a mold/mildew problem as the house sits on a hill with very sandy soil. With this excellent drainage, we have never experienced any water in the basement. Greater use of the air conditioners should help the pollen situation as well as maintain a normal humidity, especially in mid-July which is the hottest time of the year. Prior to opening the house in May for the season, we will have our regular cleaning crew perform a deep cleaning. Sincerely, Richard B. Peterson Owner

Mom's 90th birthday

  • 5 of 5

We had our mom's 90th birthday celebration in Maple Lake where she lives, however, our family was able to stay in the wonderful and comfortable house for three days of visiting and going back and forth with our mom. Our little granddaughters were with us and they loved going to the park and down to the lake which was only about 1/2 block. We loved sitting on the porch, especially during the the short but sweet thunderstorm! Being from CA, we haven't seen rain in a long time. We walked into town one morning, everything is close by. I had visited Annandale a few times while visiting my mother, it's a nice little place. We had everything we needed, lots of room and the owner and property manager were so nice to work with. Since Mom has moved into a small apt, we will come back to stay at this house when we visit again.

Wedding Weekend

  • 5 of 5

We were in the area for a wedding and this house was the perfect place for us. We did not spend much time at the house, but loved that we could have breakfast together before the business of the day started. We would defiantly stay here again! It was much better than a hotel where we would not have been able to visit as comfortably.

Wonderful place to stay

  • 5 of 5

Family members came together to move our Mom from Annandale to St. Joe and this was just the perfect house for our stay. Plenty of room for everyone and so much better than two small rooms at the one hotel in town. The house is big and very comfortable. It was a great place to be with our long days of sorting, packing and moving. We started our mornings together over breakfast and ended our long days with either dinner or snacks before heading to our own bedrooms. Minnesota was it's typical cold temps (we moved in 5 below), but we were toasty in the house. The master bedroom is very large and nicely furnished. The kitchen and bathrooms have everything you need. The owner was thoughtful and the caretaker very nice. We will stay there again in the future and highly recommend it to others.
