Hiking the High Peaks

  • 5 of 5

Great home and location. 3rd time renting from Todd and team. The views of Whiteface from the back porch can't be beat. House is always immaculate when we arrive. Boys and dads had a great time hiking the High Peaks, fishing, and visiting Placid and Wilmington for dinner and shopping. We will be back again next year!

It was clean and well kept. Everything was as described

  • 5 of 5

Views were stunning. We enjoyed listening to the wolves which were at the nearby nature preserve. There was a very nice ice cream shop near Wilmington. The owner and caretaker were both easy to deal with. Itvrsined a lot, but we were able to find fun things to do. We liked the location and the amenities.

AMAZING View and location!

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a home a short drive (within 20 min)to Lake Placid for the Marathon this June and also enjoy some time with 2 other families, so needed a home that could accommodate 6 adults and 5 kids (ages ranged from 2-12). The photos were exactly the type of place we were hoping for for our stay, and they lived up to them. The owner was very responsive and actually contacted me via phone once we booked the home and also once we arrived, which was great to hear a voice to the property and was very welcoming.

First thing when we pulled up was view, it is AMAZING! The home was very clean on arrival and well taken care of. I was surprised by all the kitchen utensils. You have everything you would need from a micro grater to a food processor. There are no cooking spices (salt, pepper, etc) so make sure to pack those or pick some up from the Little Super Market 5 mins down the road. The little marshy area that boarders the property was great to see tadpoles and frogs for the kids, but the best thing was the Adirondack Wildlife Refuge that was about a 500 foot walk and seeing the wolves, coyotes, bald eagles and many other Adirondack wildlife. They ask for a small donation, but well worth it and the staff there were happy to talk about the animals and even show some of them off outside the enclosures. Hearing the howls of the wolves, coyotes and coywolfs(coydogs) near sunset and later in the morning on the deck was an added bonus. The view was also a backdrop of soaring eagles over the Ausable River and at night seeing bats dance around in the dusk.

I can't say enough on how much we enjoyed this home and we're looking forward to bring other family members up for another visit in future years.

Great place, awesome views

  • 5 of 5

Put together a last minute hiking/fishing trip with two of my buddies and stayed at this beautiful property. It was so last minute that I emailed the owner Todd at 10 pm the night before about it's availability. He was super cool to work with and called me 45 minutes later and we worked it out. Everything is as advertised super clean and in working order. The house was so awesome that we didn't mind the rainy cold weather the first two days of the trip.

Added bonus the wild animal refuge and nature hike within a couple hundred yards of the house, kids would love this!

Logistically the house is equipped with all you need to cook with, pots. pans ect.. There are no food items in the house for obvious reasons so bring a bin full of your favorite condiments, food items. spices ect.. so you don;t have to buy it all once up there.

Highly recommend this house and would go back in a heartbeat!

The house and location were great

  • 5 of 5

We had a party of 12 which is the maximum allowance but it accommodated us all. The view of the Whiteface mountains was amazing, even from inside the home. Owners were very easy to get a hold of and super friendly. It is somewhat secluded, while also being a 5 minute drive from the town of Wilmington which was convenient. One super cool treat that comes with the house is the wildlife refuge that is a 30 second path down from the house. There are rescued wolves and sometimes bears and from the house you can hear them howling. We had a great time!
