Cabin, 3 Bedrooms , 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 5), Featured in WW's Home Show!
LEO, Teacher, and Military 10% discount! NON-SMOKING CABIN
Circa 1920's cabin with all the modern conveniences. This is a small, adorable cabin that can sleep up to five guests, but I would not recommend it for five adults. Four adults and two kids would work, but remember it is 90 years old and rooms were small back in the day! We are pet friendly (additional $25 per dog cleaning fee). We take a lot of pride in the Cabin on Helen and ask that if you are looking for a quiet, clean, quaint and lovely respite, keep reading. If, however, you are in any way disrespectful and planning on being disruptive to our quiet neighborhood please don't consider us.
One night minimum midweek, but two night (Friday/Saturday) minimum for weekends.
The "master" bedroom has a queen sized bed on the main floor. You can stand up in one of the loft bedrooms if you are less than 6' tall, but the other upstairs bedroom you will have to bend over to get to the bed if you are taller than 5'1" tall.
Only 90 minutes from L.A. with NO windy roads!
This time of year the hiking and is amazing. Walk just 10 minutes from the cabin and you'll be in the national forest. You'll find a variety of beautiful pine cones and collect some rare actinolite, a mineral only found in a few places on earth! You might see a deer or bear on your hike. Let the dogs run loose and enjoy their freedom on the levee.
Relax by a rock fireplace after a day of playing in the snow or hiking. We provide one bundle of wood per night. Play board games, read or watch a movie. In April, bask in the scent of the lilac bushes surrounding the property and town. On Memorial Day weekend walk around town to the over 100 yard sales! You'll also get your fill of lemonade and cookie stands that abound!
Walk to town and do a little shopping. You'll find restaurants, gift shops, antique stores, market, bakeries, and ski shops. Every Friday evening there is a Farmers' Market in town, too!
Walk to town and sign up for Big Pines Zipline tour; it's an amazing four hour canopy tour adventure through the treetops just two miles away from the cabin (check their website and book ahead). It's one of the most exhilarating activities I've ever done! Be sure you make reservations ahead of time. It's less than a four mile drive to Mountain High Ski Resort. A few more miles and you'll be at Grassy Hollow visitor center. The Pacific Crest Trail will host thousands of hikers walking from Mexico all the way to Canada!
Mountain High is a quick drive up the highway for skiing, snowboarding and tubing in the winter. Mountain biking (my husband loves the challenging trails) and hiking in that area is a real treat every season of the year!
Motorcyclists love Hwy 2. My husband swears it's some of the premier riding in the nation. Wrightwood really is an amazing, relaxing vacation spot!
The kitchen is fully stocked and is ready for some of your fabulous cooking! There is a market in town, Jenson's,where you're able to purchase any food you might need. However, if you want a break from cooking there are some wonderful restaurants in town. Cinnamon's Bakery is a perfect way to start the day with something sweet or savory. The Blue Ridge Inn is great if you're looking for prime rib or fresh seafood. Most of their entrees are around $25 with salad and fresh bread (if you go there, please tell them Arlene sent you; I used to waitress there!). Their pumpkin bread is amazing! There's also a Mexican Restaurant, Mexico Lindo (prices around $7-12 each) that has excellent food. For breakfast, the Evergreen cafe has fabulous pancakes and the Village Grind has delicious breakfasts as well (they also have 24/7 WIFI service) and often has live music going. The lodge decorated Grizzly Cafe, on Hwy 2, has the best sweet potato fries around and very good sandwiches. Mile High Pizza has a great variety of pizzas and other Italian dishes (and they deliver!) and the most wonderful anti-pasta salad (we get it with their homemade bleu cheese dressing). The Yodeler has outdoor seating and great food/bar as well. I guarantee you, you won't starve in Wrightwood!
There are some wonderful hiking trails that are just a walk away from the cabin. In the notebook of information I have on the kitchen counter you'll find a map that will show you how to get there.
The cabin is on Helen Street. To get there you'll want to get to the 15 North. You'll take it until you reach the 138 (well before Victorville). DON'T miss this exit or you'll have to go many, many miles before there's another exit! The 138 takes you towards Palmdale/Wrightwood heading west (if you go east you'll go to Silverwood Lake). You'll be on the 138 for about eight miles (unless you decide to take Lone Pine Canyon Road...my choice...very few cars and beautiful scenery!) at which point you'll get to the only stop light and that's at Hwy 2. Head west on Hwy 2 and in five miles you'll be in Wrightwood. When you see homes you're very close! T
I will be happy to provide any additional information you might need. Please do not hesitate to contact me either by phone or email (I tend to respond quicker to email during the week, and phone on the weekends). You may find my contact information on the listing.

About Arlene Corte
Owner operated: My family has owned a cabin in Wrightwood for almost half a century and it will always be where we consider 'home.' We raised our girls here (they grew up to be an FBI Special Agent and a Registered Nurse), I taught at the local elementary school and was very active in the community. I resigned from my teaching job in Wrightwood when my husband's job took us to the San Diego area, but we are still regular visitors and absolutely love our time in Wrightwood!
Arlene Corte purchased this Cabin in 1973
Why Arlene Corte chose Wrightwood
My dad purchased the cabin over 40 years ago. It's where most of my friends first saw snow! My late dad built the amazing play house out back for his grandkids and now his greatgrandkids get to make memories in it!
What makes this Cabin unique
The fresh crisp pine air, the thousands of stars, the quiet neighborhood, the roaring fire, and listening to the birds, walking the dog through the neighborhood, hiking in the forest, packing a picnic and eating in the woods, feeding the squirrels, the 'down home' feeling...need I say more? Well, I will! Late Fall and Winter are beautiful, crisp and a perfect time for hiking. My husband loves to take his sportbike out on Highway 2, one of Southern California's premier road rides. My husband and I are avid skiers and love Mountain High East. Our neighbors on Helen are wonderful and it is a quiet street with only a couple of neighbors. It is just a three block or seven minute walk to town.

Perfect little cabin in Wrightwood
We had a wonderful stay in this cabin. My sister is hiking the PCT and Wrightwood was a perfect stop. Arlene, the property manager, was so helpful and friendly...and made everything so easy. The cabin is very charming and we had such a great night enjoying it and the town. I highly recommend.
My family of four (and dog) had a lovely stay in Wrightwood. The cabin was very cozy and comfortable. Its plethora of toys, playhouse, and chairlift swing kept the kids entertained for hours on end. The cabin was even pet friendly and had a great fenced-in back and front yard. Additionally, it was located only a few blocks from dowtown Wrightwood, so just about everything was within walking distance. The cabin is also very close to the Angeles National Forest, which has amazing hiking trails and stunning scenery. Alrene, the property owner/manager, was a pleasure to work and was very flexible/accomodating. I would highly recommend this cozy cabin to anyone looking for a family-friendly spot on the outskirts of the Angeles National Forest!
Sooo Family Friendly!
Our party included 2 adults, our 4.5 yo son, and our 9 yo mini poodle. We loved this cabin. Our son on the other hand, was in complete heaven. :) This cabin has the feel of family retreat. There are books and games and toys, giving you all sorts of opportunities to connect with each other and build those awesome family vacation memories. The yard is fenced in, perfect for our little pup to sniff around. The "play house" in the back, is almost like it's own kids' studio. There is so much love and care in this place--we would definitely go back and recommend to friends.
I am so happy that the cabin worked well for your family! When my dad built the custom playhouse for his grandkids, he would have had no idea how many kids would be spending time creating memories in it. It warms my heart when I know children are playing back there and if Dad were still alive, his loud Argentine laugh or approval would resonate through the yard! We welcome you back any time!
Adorable, cozy cabin
This is our second stay at this cabin. It is absolutely perfect for a family or any fun get-a-way. Arlene is extremely accommodating and makes sure everything is perfect for your stay. I can’t recommend this place enough.
Thanks so much; we take a lot of pride in the Nordic Cabin and love accommodating our guests so they will have wonderful memories of their stay in Wrightwood.
Very quaint and cozy. Quiet and serene environment! Clean crisp air was a very welcome change!!
We had a fabulous stay and look forward to visiting not only Wrightwood but this great cabin!
Thanks so much for your visit to the Nordic Cabin. I am sorry that Mother Nature has been spending all her time elsewhere and did not respond accordingly for my request for snow, but she does always deliver clean and crisp air. And those stars at night...I hope you had a chance to star gaze!
We welcome you and your family back.
Perfect family get away from the city!
The kids loved playing with all of the toys and the play house! The house was fully stocked with everything we needed or forgot to bring. We felt at home and very welcome to enjoy our vacation. We can’t wait to book our next trip!
I'm so glad the kids got to enjoy the playhouse. My late father lovingly built that custom playhouse for our children and now their children love playing in it. If those walls could talk! We welcome you and your family back again so you can make more memories!
A three block walk takes you into our quaint little 'downtown.' A half mile walk through the neighborhood will take you to some wonderful hiking. Here you'll find some premier hiking trails, a small creek and quaint waterfalls. Head up the hill a few blocks and you'll hike through the levee and follow a stream as far as you can go. You'll find beautiful samples of actinilite (a rock unique to Wrightwood), quartz and grey and green schist. Sit on a fallen tree or boulder and enjoy your picnic lunch. There is a new zip-line canopy tour just two miles from the cabin (Big Pines). Meet up in town and catch the Big Pines truck up to the tour.
