About Ellen Dean
I am a retired educator who loves to travel. I have grown children in the area and in New York. I love living in San Francisco and will be happy to share some of my favorite spots many of which would be known only by locals.
Ellen Dean purchased this House in 1999
Why Ellen Dean chose Marina District
This home is located in an ideal part of the City. The neighborhood is safe and clean yet easily accessible to downtown, sporting venues, and the parks and hiking options within the City. Nearby attractions include the Symphony Hall, beautiful beaches and Golden Gate Park complete with a world class museum, Academy of Science and an amazing botanical garden. The wine country of Sonoma and Napa are an hour away by car. Silicon Valley and Berkely/Oakland can be accessed by public transportation as well as easy freeway driving.
What makes this House unique
I love the convenience of this home to city activities yet when I am at home, the neighborhood is extremely quiet and often the only sound is the fog horn on the Bay or the chirping of birds in the morning. Public transportation via bus lines 22 and 30 are within blocks of the house.

A great holiday week in San Francisco!
We rented this home for a week over the Christmas holiday as our daughter lives in San Francisco. The location was perfect for us--we could walk a few blocks to Chestnut Street for shops and restaurants or a few blocks in the opposite direction to Marina Green and Chrissy Field for beautiful outside spaces. The home is immaculate and has a well-equipped kitchen for meal preparation if desired. The neighborhood is quiet.....the deck and patio area in the backyard is very private and well maintained...we did not use it during your stay as the weather was a little chilly. We were a group of three and the size of the home was perfect for us with a very comfortable master bedroom and separate den with queen size sofa bed that was comfortable as well. The owner was attentive and available by email or phone to answer questions if needed. We would highly recommend this home and would stay here again in the future if it was available.
It was a pleasure having the Hayward family stay in my home during the Christmas holiday. Please come back, any time.
Great location and well equipped home
256 Mallorca Way is located in a prime location... it is in walking distance of many restaurants, interesting and varied shops and easily access to outdoor activities such as jogging, cycling and walking... this is our second time to rent this VRBO and had a good experience both times
Always a pleasure to have you stay in my home when you are spending time in San Francisco.
I really enjoyed the stay. I was in town for a week long conference. Great relaxing place to stay and Ellen was a pleasure to communicate with.
Super in San Francisco
Perfect for our needs.
Such an inviting home ,full of charm and very well equipped .
We would certainly give it an A+ And rent it again .
Fabulous house. Great location
We arrived from London and Ellen gave us a tour before she left. The house was perfect for us. Comfortable and very well equipped. Location has transport , restaurants , food stores and two cinemas at the end of the street. It gave us a superb base to explore the city , you can walk to Golden Gate Bridge or downtown. Highly recommended. Feel like a local in a peaceful neighbourhood.
Beautiful home in a great location
This is a great place to stay in San Francisco. The house is lovely with many amenities. Beautiful well appointed kitchen, great master bedroom, washer/dryer, good sized patio and garden area, within walking distance to the Marina and Chestnut Street where you will find many shops and places to eat. The owner is very nice and easy to communicate with. The house also comes with parking which is very hard to find in San Francisco! We had many rainy days during our stay and having this lovely house to return to after a soaking day was very much appreciated.
This property is located in one of the premier neighborhoods in San Francisco. You will be able to walk to the Bay and view the Golden Gate Bridge within minutes. The entire city Can be explored by public transportation. A car is not necessary although the rental comes with parking, an added benefit in San Francisco. San Francisco has it all...sports teams, fine dining, ethnic diversity and world class views. The residents are friendly and helpful to visitors. The weather is comfortable and mild, never getting too hot or too cold. Highlights of your visit might be a day in Muir Woods, a ferry ride on the Bay or a fabulous meal in Chinatown or North Beach. And of course, don't forgot a ride on a cable car.
