Paradise in St. Petersburg!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a delightful month at this VRBO. The house is in a great location, central to downtown and all that St. Petersburg has to offer. There is a very nice park within a 5 minute walk and the beaches are 15 minutes by car. Plenty of restaurants and a Starbucks is just around the corner. The house was clean and well appointed and as a bonus there is a shaded patio out back. Sunken Gardens a hidden gem is just down the street and I'd highly recommend a visit. This house is a good choice if you want to be near the action but still want peace and quiet!

Not as advertised and not worth the cost

  • 1 of 5

This property at best can be best described as shabby. The bathroom was tiny, shower tilted, tiles on the floor broken in pieces, and missed being cut when we stepped on it. Bedroom is small with the ‘furnace” in the closet which was loud all the time as we had to have heat on because of the weather. The one vent in the bedroom was apparently the only one that worked properly so the rest of the house was freezing . The front door didn’t open or close properly and the bottom step was broken so it could not be used. The back door railing and steps were rusted and falling apart. Washer and dryer were outside in the back. The TV had only very basic channels and it was in the freezing living room. This was not as described and definitely NOT worth the money . The only good thing was there were no bugs, except in the shavings in the drawers, which we could not put our clothes in. It’ also was surface clean except for fireplace, window sills which were moldy. The location was convenient. This was our first experience with HomeAway and it will be our last. The previous comments had to be written by friends who never actually rented there. The owner was in Hawaii.

Owner's Response: Dear VRBO/Homeaway Renters, Please don't let this lady who wrote this review under husbands name lead you to not use VRBO/Homeaway. We have been renting our properties in Hawaii and Florida for close to 15 years and every once in a while you run into a person who seems to find fault with everything and can't enjoy themselves. This review is riddled with misleading remarks and deceit. If these were all issues that concerned her, then why didn't she contact us about them during her 20 day stay? Not once did she call or email us with her concerns so that we could take action. She did find the time to email us to accuse us of overcharging her, but when we provided proof that she was wrong, she did not even have to courtesy to respond or apologize. There are two bathrooms. Yes small but fine. Tiles are not broken. It is not a furnace, it is central HVAC. Excuse me but aren't all HVAC located in the house? It is as noisy as a brand NEW 18 SEER unit can be! Vents work everywhere but the house is a Historic Craftsman which wasn't insulated very well some 60 years ago and this couple arrived in a freezing stretch in Florida which is anything but typical. Unfortunately, I am not in charge of Mother Nature. It has a great washer/dryer on the back porch which is covered and in great Florida weather, there is absolutely nothing wrong with having your washer and dryer outside. The 55 inch Flat TV has Direct TV Cable with NFL Red Zone and a great channel selection. I am not sure what else you need. The cleaning lady was there when they arrived early and we accommodated them by allowing them to check-in early. We then had to purchase her a hair dryer and show them how to use the internet. Everyone involved in going out of their way to assist this couple were taken aback by their sense of entitlement. They were rude and non appreciative. We strive to provide a great product and have an overwhelming history of great reviews by happy travelers. Please look at our other properties and do your own research and do not listen to a petty person who is not happy while on vacation. This is a cute cottage with a new home in the back landscaped with new Zoysia grass and palms. My family and I stay at this house every time we are in Florida (which is multiple times during the year) to visit my mom and friends who live in the area, so we make sure that the home is well taken care of. Choose to live a happy life! I do!

We had a great time and it fit our needs perfectly. Nice little house in a great neighborhood - only thing is the pictures shown don't do it justice.

St.Pete is great!

  • 5 of 5

We had never used VRBO before this visit but this will not be our last time. The booking process with Thomas was so easy and the house was clean and centrally located. Downtown St. Pete is vibrant and a short walk from this rental. The beaches were great and we will be back. BTW...Ceviche is a great restaurant! Thanks again, Tom McMaster

Excellent Price for Outstanding Location

  • 5 of 5

We were so happy to find this place at such a great price! After checking out the hotel prices in the area, the house was a way better deal. It is in a convenient and great location - near everything, even the freeway entrances, the house itself was clean and spacious and afforded us the ability to feel like we were home while on vacation. We will definitely be back!
