About The Owner

We live in Denver and decided to purchase in Leadville because of the proximity to so many outdoor opportunities and the rich history. We hope that you will feel like our cabin is your home away from home.

The Owner purchased this house in 2011

Why The Owner chose South Central

This is a unique home in a quiet area just outside of town. Making trips to town for groceries or a bite to eat is only a couple of minutes away. The house is also close to Ski Cooper, about a 10-15 minute drive.

What makes this house unique

This home is located close to town, yet it is a nice neighborhood on a large wooded lot allowing for space to park trailers and for dogs and kids to run around.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Cozy, quiet, and everything you need for an epic weekend in the mountains! 5 of us stayed without feeling cramped at all. More than enough room for 3 couples. The kitchen has everything you'd need for a mountain feast. The living room has nice new carpet and is great to hang out and share stories. Large new refrigerator stored our food bounty with ease. Erin was super communicative and helpful leading up to our trip. Hopefully we can make it back up there!

Cute, Cozy Cabin perfect for a Colorado Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This Cabin was a great home base for a Mt. Elbert climb and some white water rafting, and minutes away from Leadville. A nice front porch or back deck were perfect choices for that morning coffee. The cabin came nicely equipped with linens and cleaning supplies. The washer and dryer worked perfectly, and the kitchen had all the necessary items to help you make your own home cooked meals. There was a huge refrigerator, and the hanging television by the wood burning stove was perfect to watch the Olympics after the day's activities. Wireless internet and Dish Network were included and appreciated by our party of 4, 2 fathers and 2 sons enjoying a Colorado adventure. The cabin utilized it's square footage nicely, and the loft was a fun hideaway to sleep 2 comfortably. There were even 2 axes to split wood for fire in the stove, or in the ring outside. There was plenty of great firewood covered up from the elements to make this possible. We could tell the owner cared about the furnishings and amenities for her guests.

The owner was fantastic at responding to our questions and returned emails promptly and also supplied her cell number should we have needed to talk to her directly.

We had an awesome time and would definitely come back. Perhaps a winter trip to enjoy the coziness around the wood burning stove or some snow shoeing on nearby trails. That should be easier than our trip to the summit, 7 minutes of pictures, and our race down to beat the oncoming thunderstorm...

Thanks for helping us make some good memories!

Nice and clean!

  • 5 of 5

This was a great location and property. The only thing that we had a problem with was the loft. The access to the loft was not made for older guests. Other than that it was GREAT!!

Thanks

Very nice and clean!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin met the needs of my father (76), my teen son (18) and myself (55).

I would recommend the cabin and enjoyed the interaction with the owner.

I would stay here again, the next time we're in the area.

Nice stay!

Cabin was perfect! Close to Turquoise Lake and town. Clean upon arrival and well stocked with all necessities. Loved having a back yard, front porch, Wi-if, cable and laundry. Owner was very easy to work with and responsive. Will be back again!

NOT

  • 1 of 5

Words fail us---- not cute, not nice. Talk about maximizing your return with little invested! Owner must be laughing all the way to the bank. Junky furniture- if you count all of the three or 4 peices in the front room.( not counting the two wood bar stools).

Nice bed linens. Bed comfort so-so.

Kitchen has no dishwasher , and sink faucet slowly trickles out water- Bring throwaway dishes & cups, or plan on taking a long time washing. Nice laundry room and big backyard.

Treated to "Billy Bob" with his black pick up, and his babe , yelling and cursing at each other daily -with their big dog barking intermittently day and night ( sometimes joined in by another neighbor's dog).Shame- beautiful surroundings, bad location and accommodations. Best advice-NOT

Owner's Response: I am sorry that you did not enjoy your stay. However, this review is uncharacteristic of all previous reviews that have been received to date for the cabin over the last six years. I encourage those reading this to read the other reviews that have been provided to gain a clear perspective on the condition of the cabin, the surroundings, the location, and the level of communication/responsiveness that can be expected when renting this cabin. In addition, please know that the pictures accurately reflect the current condition of the home. The entire interior of the cabin was refreshed with new paint, art work, flooring, and linens in the fall of 2016. A brand new leather couch in the living area was just added two weeks prior to this guest's stay. It is accurate that there isn't a dishwasher; this is indicated in the listing in the amenities. The pressure in the faucet can be adjusted by pushing the button on the handle. I do maintain positive relationships with the neighbors, and perhaps could have addressed the concerns of the renter had they been relayed. At no time during this renter's stay was I made aware of any issues so it was not possible to remedy them. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have as a future renter.

We loved this little cabin...it is perfect for a small group. It's very clean, and is in a great location near Turquoise Lake and not too far from town.
