Bedrooms 5
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 - 5 nights

About the property

5 Bedroom, 3 Bath, Hot Tub, Pool Table, WiFi, Pet Friendly

Remodeled Fall 2016! New wood floors in all main floors, remodeled bathrooms + new bigger deck in backyard.

This great value cozy five bedroom home is packed with fun features including a pool table, a hot tub, fireplace and more.

After a day of Tahoe's great activities you will love soaking away the evening in the backyard hot tub. For those staying in, you've got your own pool room. With your own pool table, TV, table for cards and seating for four, the whole gang can join in a game of eight-ball.

With five bedrooms, room for twelve, and low rates, this house is a great value.

About the house. The house is a split level home. You enter at mid-level which is the level the kitchen and dining room are on. Down three stairs from the kitchen is the pool table room and off that room is the deck, BBQ and hot tub.

Down a half flight from the living room is one of the master bedrooms. This room has bunks in addition to a queen bed and has it's own full bath (shower, sink and toilet). Across from this room is the laundry room and garage.

Up a half-flight from the living room are the other four bedrooms. One of them is a master bedroom with it's own bathroom. The other three rooms up here share a bathroom which has double sinks to manage the crowds. Rooms are decorated in 'Tahoe Cabin' style - meaning wood furniture and wide plank walls, etc. The pool table has a cover so it can be converted into a table.

The house is central to everything. Walking distance to some local favorites including the best Thai restaurant (actually the best ethnic food in Tahoe) and Steamers, the always packed local sports bar which has live music, darts, and an backyard patio that's a great place to hang out.

In addition, you can walk right next door out into the Upper Truckee River and Meadow. Where trails meander through Aspens, over bridges, past swimming holes and through meadows. Great for hikes, bikes and walks.

About Danny McNamara

We (wife and kids) live in the San Francisco Bay Area and have had this home in the family for years. I'm a big snow boarder and have built almost 20 homes in the Tahoe area, but keep this one in the family, because we love it.

Danny McNamara purchased this house in 1980

Why Danny McNamara chose Y Area

My father bought this property back in the 1980s. We loved coming up so much that we bought it from him when he moved too far away to continue to enjoy it.

What makes this house unique

1) Walking distance to great restaurants and bars

2) Walking distance to great trails and rivers.

3) Centrally located between the best of the lake (Camp Richardson, Emerald Bay) and the casinos/Heavenly.

Great place for large group

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a great experience. There is plenty of room and the ammenities were great and we spent most of our time in Tahoe in the house.

Depressing and Unkept

  • 2 of 5

The description and photos of this property don't compare to what you actually get. We arrived to a sad and unkept home - a depressing place to spend the weekend for my brother's wedding. (Good thing it was so beautiful outside!!)

This lodging may be perfect for a group of college students, but it's not for a family! The bathroom sinks didn't drain, there were holes in bedroom doors that had been poorly patched and painted over, carpets were stained all over, paint was chipped and peeling in all rooms, the entry lock looked like someone had tried to break in, the list goes on and on. (I wish I could post all of my pictures - then you'd get a true view!)

Also - the next-door meadow that the description tells you about - you can't go out there to explore - you'll see NO TRESPASSING signs all over! My kids were disappointed! The neighborhood was definitely rough around the edges - with a chained up dog outside just a few doors down barking and barking!

Again - perfect for a group of college kids but not suitable for a family and definitely not worth the price! Wish I would have stayed at a hotel!

Owner's Response: I’m sorry Jenn felt this way. I hope people read my other reviews. The house is accurately described and the pictures were taken by HomeAway’s photographer. Please review them before you rent this house so you have an accurate view of what you are renting. It’s a nice family home with 5 bedrooms, a pool table and a hot tub for a reasonable price. The house was built in the 60s and vacation homes take a lot of abuse. We recently spent a lot of money remodeling last spring. All new bathrooms, new hardwood floors, new expanded deck, all new appliances, etc. It is true that one of the two sinks in one of the upstairs bathrooms was clogged. It’s been fixed. We also have new alder wood doors on order (that will be installed in the spring low season) and we have a professional carpet cleaner come every spring and fall (Jenn’s stay was just before fall). She paid $275/night for a 5 bedroom home. She claimed she could get a 5 star resort for that price. I think her expectations were off.

Lovely property

Our stay on this property for a weekend getaway was wonderful. It easily accommodated our family of 12. I would definitely recommend this home and would considering booking it again for future getaways.

Property is very accurate with descriptions and pictures- stay was great for 10 people

  • 4 of 5

I came in from Detroit with my family and in-law family to stay for the week. The property was very pleasant, easy check-in and the owner was easy to reach to answer my few questions prior to arrival.

The bedroom were all adequate and furnished with modern decorations and bedding. The place was clean and had everything you would need to enjoy a fantastic destination.

A few minor downfalls (and I do mean minor) that would have made the review go from a 4 star to a five star.

The cleaning crew missed a lot of dusting/ cobwebs on the interior and exterior. I do realize that the windows and doors are open and closed a bit, but we did kill a lot of bugs. This rental is in the woods so I can understand some of it. I do believe that the house should probably sprayed or "bombed" for spiders and bugs. Again, not everywhere but my wife and I did kill quite a few in the bedroom.

Lastly, the cooking situation was extremely difficult. All pans and pots were warped and unable to cook at all. Had to run to the local grocery store and spend $20.00 of our own dollars to be able to cook. A new set would definitely and upgrade. NO need to worry, we left the one we bought at the unit!

I would recommend staying at this unit, and would stay here again. Thanks for an enjoyable stay.

Owner's Response: Hi Renault, Thank you for letting me know. I've contacted the cleaning crew and they are doing their 'fall cleaning' (we do a deep clean every spring and fall). I'll also bring up a complete new set of pots and pans next time I'm up there (we do an inventory in spring and fall too as things seem to 'walk away' during the season). I also just sent you $20 for the pot as I didn't know you did that! Next time let me know and I'll take care of it up front. Thanks again!

Great stay

  • 5 of 5

Had a large group, and the property fit us all. The backyard was our hang out spot, with enough room for our corn hole game we brought along. Would stay again.
