Would not rent here again
This house was very dark and lacked any ambiance. Kitchen needs some curtains, no large pots for lobsters, etc. The pots that were available had no covers. No butter knives. Location is great but on a very noisy main road. Also had trouble accessing shared washer and dryer. The stairs going to two upstairs bedrooms are really steep. I was told about these stairs.
Terrific Vineyard getaway
Wonderful stay! House is cozy, clean and comfortable. Easy walk into town. Would stay here again.
Clean and perfect for family.
Cute house in a perfect location. Walking distance to OB and bike paths. Perfect getaway!
Cute Vineyard Cottage Minutes from Downtown Oak Bluffs
Clean, comfortable three bedroom Vineyard farm house. Loved that it is only a 10 minute walk to the campground, Circuit Ave, etc.; close but none of the noise that downtown brings. Had some trouble with the cable/TV set up when we first arrived but the owners were on site and were more than helpful, patiently working through the issue. Awesome visit! We were all sad to leave.
Daphne and her family were awesome when a small issue came up...very very nice people and the property was great.
I can not recommend this rental.
The biggest issue we had was this house has no heat. I realize many homes on MV are winterized and don't have heat hooked up but, most have space heaters and/or electric blankets. The week we rented was rainy and cold, dipping into the 40's some evenings. The first morning we texted the owner to ask about the heat and were told "the boiler isn't hooked up". That's it. No offer to bring more blankets, no offer to bring over a space heater, no offer of help at all. This house has one blanket for each bed. That's it. No throw blankets, no electric blankets, nothing. We had to take the one blanket we had on our beds and wrap ourselves up to watch TV or play board games at night. It was uncomfortable and unacceptable.
Another issue is that the outdoor shower didn't work. It was a big selling point and it was strongly suggested we use the outdoor shower, yet it didn't work. I was told the showerhead 'might need to b cleaned'. But there was no offer to come fix it or see what could be done to make it work. Again, unacceptable.
The house had a horrible musty, mildewy stench. It was unbearable in the "master" bedroom. While musty smells can be expected in beach homes, this was terrible. Due to the cold and rainy weather we couldn't air out the house by opening the windows either.
Lastly, the bedsprings were extremely LOUD and squeaky. They squeaked loudly at every single movement. If you plan on sharing the bed in the master bedroom, be prepared to wake up every time your partner moves. My kids said their beds were noisy as well (but I didn't hear that myself). I was truly shocked that the property owner thought these beds were okay. Once again, unacceptable.
A review from 2015 states "It is rare to see such a dedicated property owner, going above and beyond to the extent we experienced." and I'm wondering if this pertained to a different owner, since the owner we dealt with didn't do anything extra thing for us. We even left a day early because the house was so uncomfortable and we'd had enough, which we shared with the owner, but she didn't seem to be concerned about it. Clearly, the property owner doesn't care about the comfort of her guests, or whether big 'selling points' in the listing actually work. One-star rating for the proximity to town, but I would have traded walking a few extra blocks for a more comfortable house. Stay anywhere but here.
