About the property

Condo, (Sleeps 2)

Share our beautiful one bedr, one bath condo on the sunny west shore of Oahu. Close enough to the airport, the amenities of Waikiki, Kapolei and North Shore but far enough away for a serene Hawaii experience. The Makaha area is truly the best kept secret of Hawaii. After one visit to the area we now spend 3 months every summer in our personal vacation home. It is a 2 minute drive to the beautiful Makaha beach, 5 minutes to the local golf course. We enjoy sitting on the beach at sunset, hiking out to Kaena Point to see the fabulous views. If lucky one may come upon a endangered monk seal. I enjoy swimming or kayaking with a pod of dolphins at the nearby Pokoi Bay. There are many restaurants within 25 minutes. Costco, Target, Walmart and Sports Authority are also available.

Makaha Valley Towers: A True Island Tropical Paradise

  • 5 of 5

If you want to get away from the hustle/bustle of the tourism of Waikiki, this is the place for you. Lots of local restaurants (even big corporate chains) and grocery stores. Many beaches to choose from.

As for the the Makaha Valley Towers, this was truly a wonderful place to stay. The grounds are exceptionally clean and the security tight. Our "landlord" was very accommodating.

We plan on a future trip there again!

great property, remote and quiet. And of course, it's Hawaii.

  • 4 of 5

Spacious one bedroom apartment in an older, secure building. A little dated, but pretty clean and has everything you could want. The kitchen is very well stocked, it's nice not having to buy every little thing.

The area has few good restaurants, so you'll find yourself driving everywhere and the Farrington Hwy certainly has traffic issues at certain times of the day.

Would stay again, great value!!

Perfect Getaway Spot

  • 5 of 5

Walking into the condo you can't help but first notice the amazing ocean view. I was looking for something away from the touristy areas, and that is just what we found. My husband and I enjoyed our days at the beaches full of locals, the hikes and walks around the end of the island and in the hills near the condo. Of course, you are not far from tourist attractions when you want to head into Honolulu or Laie or somewhere else for the day.

I'm a person who prefers to cook most of my meals when on vacation, and the kitchen is well stocked with dishes and cookware. There's also leftover items like olive oil, spices, etc. for your use. We added to the collection with items we needed that weren't already there. (I love a kitchen like this when on holiday, so you don't have to buy every little thing you may need.)

The owner have 2 beach chairs and a boogie board you can use. You do need to provide your own beach towels (I couldn't convince my husband to donate those we purchased to the condo, sorry.)

The owners have a binder of very helpful information for things to do, where to shop, where to eat. There's a smart TV so you can use your own Netflix account or watch cable or a movie on the DVD player on a rainy afternoon. The internet never had an issue, which is such a welcome change from other places I've stayed.

Definitely a recommended location to stay.

Owner's Response: I am puzzled by the lack of beach towels. I left 4 In August 2016 iin the linen closet. I will check with the cleaning people to make sure they are still there and just just overlooked or if I need to buy more.

Outstanding value, great stay in Oahu away from the busy areas!

  • 5 of 5

This is our third experience with VRBO (our second booking directly). The owner and property manger responded to my email inquiries quickly, were both very professional and accommodating. The unit itself is quite spacious, modernized with nice furnishings and very clean upon arrival. A tasty bottle of wine and chocolates were an added touch and very much appreciated! Many living amenities and necessities were available; for instance, there are enough utensils/dishes for a week's worth of two meals per day for a couple. From the unit, there is quick access to the lower parking lot (visitors and placard parking) from the lower lobby and down the stairs. The complex is secure and guarded 24/7 and is way from the hustle and bustle of Oahu. The northwest side of the island has excellent hiking and scenery with quiet beaches nearby.

That said, you must consider with tighter security, the property rules are stringent, especially with the parking placard and visitor pass. Be mindful the location does add extra time to travel and sightseeing other areas of Oahu. In exchange for being quiet and tranquil, this was very acceptable. Though the unit was well kept, the building itself is older and shower pressure could be a bit stronger, but note we are used to having a five gallon per minute waterfall at home :)

Aside from these very minor things, we felt it was outstanding value for the nightly rate asked. We wouldn't hesitate to visit again and highly recommend this unit to anyone looking!

Please kindly take a second to indicate if this review was helpful so I can focus my future efforts accordingly, thank you!
