Log-Inn was constructed in 1947. It was one of the first year-round houses on Pawleys Island, which is one of the oldest resorts on the east coast and steeped in history! The house is unique and original and being creek-front, offers a yard with more outside space and privacy than ocean-front houses that hug the sand dunes. It is a large, comfortable home that has been in the same family for 68 years. The salt-water creek and marsh are its backyard and are viewed through all of the rooms on the west side of the house. There are 5 bedrooms, 2 downstairs and 3 up, with a bathroom on each floor. The large den opens onto a long screened porch, complete with rockers for reading, chatting and relaxing and a picnic table for 'outside' dining. There is a brick BBQ grill in the front yard, along with an enclosed outside shower with hot/cold water. A long dock leads to the creek where kayaks, canoes or stand up paddle boards can be launched. Fishing, crabbing and/or swimming in the creek are favorite activities while staying at Log-Inn. The house is especially conducive to bird watching, as numerous species of shore birds and long-legged wading birds visit the creek daily at low tide. And a bald eagle or two are often spotted flying over, and sometimes resting, in a tall pine on an undisturbed wooded lot, owned by the family, that is adjacent to the house. If the beach is calling your name, the ocean is just a short walk away (approx. 1.5 blocks) where swimming, fishing, surfing or simply relaxing, walking and beach-combing await. If you are seeking a bit more action, Myrtle Beach is a mere 30 minute drive up Hwy 17. And last but not least, if you are seeking down-home comfort, serenity and a sense of home away from home, this is the house for you. Bring your kayak, your canoe, your boogie board, surf board or skim board, your bike, roller blades or jogging shoes! There's room for all! Be our guests and start building your Pawleys Island memories by staying at Log-Inn. You might end your vacation feeling like part of the family. We're not just a rental house, we're a family house. Visit Log-Inn on Facebook for more photos and comments. Lower rates and partial weeks accepted during spring/fall months.

My brother, sister and I grew up in Log-Inn. It is not your typical 'beach rental' but a real family home. My brother and I still live in the Pawleys area, across the creek from Log-Inn. Our father was a forester who brought us up to love and respect nature and we have encouraged our children and grandchildren to follow in those footsteps. We have family gatherings at Log-Inn whenever we can and enjoy continuing the traditions passed on to us by our parents.
The Owner purchased this house in 1947
Log-Inn was not purchased, but built by my grandfather and a contractor who was a close friend of my father. It was one of the first year-round homes in the Birds Nest section of the Island and was completed in 1947, when Pawleys was truly a 'paradise'.
We get together with family as often as possible and simply enjoy being in the house we grew up in, reliving old memories while creating new ones. Crabbing, fishing, playing in the creek or beach-combing and surfing (those younger than us) are favorite activities. What better way to spend your time, than whiling away long evening hours on the screened porch with family members?
We had a family vacation on PI in June 2016 with 12 adults and a 7-month-old child. Log-Inn was one of two cottages we rented on on Myrtle Avenue. It was our base of operations and the place where we grilled out and ate our family dinners. We felt right at home there. We loved the setting on the marsh and cul-de-sac, the proximity to the beach, and the fireplaces and other unique aspects of the building design. It was very special to be given the privilege of sharing this family home with the owners and to read their childhood memories of growing up on PI. We enjoyed our communications with the owners and found them to be very responsive to their renters.
After only a few hours in the Log-Inn our entire family felt comfortably 'at home'. The house is unique, spacious but also cozy, filled with beautiful family photos and interesting stories of children growing up on Pawleys Island. The ocean is normally the main attraction during a beach vacation, and the ocean was just a short walk away. For our family the creek became the hub for most activities including fishing, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, exploring, and crabbing. We highly recommend guests with kayaks, canoes, or other boats to take the excursion to the southern inlet - our teens said that was the highlight of the week. Prior to the trip I was a bit concerned for the safety of our 16 month old granddaughter in an older house, but the owners volunteered a pack-n-play and safety gates, then surprised us with a new high chair. She was fine. As for recommendations, let me just say that our family has already voted, and we will be returning to the Log-Inn for a week in the summer of 2016.
We had a great time at Log Inn the week of our daughter's wedding on Pawley's Island! We fell in love with the house, the history of the island it showcases, the books, and the family it sheltered for many years! With most of us being farmers, a biology teacher and an environmental science major, the book collection was much enjoyed! You had something for every age to explore inside and out! We wanted to stay another week, it felt like home! Thank you for being so gracious as to allow us to host the rehearsal dinner, the lovely screened in porch worked out perfectly to feed everyone, and protected everything from the short thunderstorm that rolled by during the dinner! Having the marsh all around us and the ocean in front of us was such a treat! Everyone, young and old, had a perfect place to have fun and enjoy each others company! With newly married loved ones nearby, we would love to make the Log Inn a family tradition!
My family enjoyed our vacation in this charming Pawley's home steeped in history. Large enough to spread out but cozy enough when coming together. I loved the kitchen and eating area that looks out onto the marsh. We were amazed at low tide by watching all the crabs scrambling around. At high tide we put our kayaks in right outside the backdoor and paddled out in the creek, easily one of our favorite activities. My mom introduced us to the joys of crabbing and my children were excited to catch several large ones. The home is filled with pictures of the beginning of Log-Inn's construction and history along with the family that grew up here. I could have spent another week just reading all the history on this amazing home. The beach is just a short walk away and was easy to get to. We were excited to be there during the beautiful Super Moon. We really didn't move our car much, lots of beach time, creek time, nap time, and family time was had by all! We hope to visit again in the future. We truly loved our time this summer at the Log-Inn.
We had the most fantastic time on our girls trip and plan to come again! I look forward to my time again at the Log-Inn with my family this summer.
5 out of 5 stars!!!

This house was exactly as described by the owners and the previous reviews were right on the mark. We were there for a wonderful and relaxing week of exploring the marsh and beach. It was a great location right on the creek (at the best crabbing spot on the island) and only a few easily walkable blocks to the beach. We had kids from 6 to 11 years old who loved the board walk behind the house and the close surf break for boogie boarding at the beach. The owners were very responsive and helpful. While the house lacks a back screened porch for watching the sunset and a shower upstairs, these were not surprises. We loved the outdoor shower (filled with fiddler crabs that scurry away) and many of us never used the one inside. We definitely would recommend the property to friends and family but they should read everything and know what to expect (like no dishwasher).
Pawleys Island is located between Myrtle Beach and Charleston, which host a variety of activities. Included in the Pawleys area are a number of golf courses; Huntington Beach State Park, nature/history-related sites; Brookgreen Gardens, a large outdoor sculpture/ botanical area that includes a zoological park/aviary; plantation tours, river tours, deep-sea fishing trips and shopping. The beach is within walking distance of the rental property and there is always plenty of space for spreading out. Hobcaw Barony, part-time home of Bernard Baruch, advisor to several former Presidents, is featured in a 3 hour long tour, highlighting the history and wildlife of the area. You will never be bored when you visit Pawleys Island!
