The Little House is a private charming little cottage in the woods with a stream
About Joely Polokoff
I bought this home and gutted it then renovated it form the floor up. It is all brand new! I worked very hard at making this a lovely rental. Please take good care of it while you are renting as well as all of the possessions.
Joely Polokoff purchased this Cottage in 2009
Why Joely Polokoff chose Monroe
This is a great little house to spend time in. It's comfortable and cozy and will allow you private time as well as being close to major shopping and nearby attractions. It is also very relaxing to have a deck out the back door to listen to the rushing water and waterfalls.
What makes this Cottage unique
It has a lovely stream behind the house with little waterfalls that make the greatest sounds! Many of the items have a history that is meaningful. All items are for sale and can be purchased during your stay. (Of course, if things are broken or missing, you will be charged to replace them, not just for the item but fro the time it takes to replace them as well.)
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date. 50% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date.
Fireflies & Waterfalls
The little house lives up to its name & listing. The deck overlooking the waterfall is a delight, we had all our meals there, whether take-out, cooked in the well-stocked kitchen, or grilled in the large charcoal grill (much fancier than the kettle style grill I"m used to!). Walks around the neighbourhood were pleasant with friendly neighbourhoods - and hundreds of fireflies at dusk! A wonderful hike (Schunemunk Sweet Clover Loop) was only a 10 minute drive away, with parts going through meadow, woods, and waterfall.
Joely was the most amazingly responsive host! We appreciated her kindness and tips.
Our family had a beautiful stay at this charming little cottage-by-a-stream.
We loved the tranquility and enjoyed everything from walking in the neighborhood to exploring the many historic sites nearby.
Joely made us feel so welcome in this beautiful place.
Thank you Andrew! You and your daughters were wonderful to have as guests! I am still in awe that your ancestors actually settled this area and lived here so long ago. What an amazing legacy and very interesting history they have left in and around my town!
It is a cute cottage that had all the conveniences we needed.
It was well maintained and had the most relaxing stream with small waterfall flowing behind the backyard deck. You can hear the stream throughout the “little house” if you open the windows. The location was central to all our touring. We would certainly come back.
Cute Cottage Stay
My daughter and I loved spending two whole weeks at this charming cottage. Although the square footage is small, it accommodated us (and two additional adults) well. We stayed here while going through a move nearby, so we continued to commute to West Point and other local areas during our stay. The beautiful back roads made for easy access to Cornwall, Monroe, and Washingtonville. The waterfalls right off the nice back deck made for wonderfully relaxing sleeping background. The cottage was clean and comfortable, and we cooked and ate many meals there. It was also nice having the screened in sunroom, which provided extra space or a nice way to enjoy the evening. I highly recommend this home - it is in a safe, quiet neighborhood, the owner (Joely) is terrific about communicating and making you feel welcome, and it provides a fantastic respite in the woods with peace and quiet.
Thank you so much for the wonderful review! The Little House is quite enchanting and relaxing!
It was very easy to communicate with you as well and I do try to accommodate everyone the best I can.
My husband and son had a very busy 4 days while attending all the graduation festivities at Westpoint. Thankfully they were able to enjoy their down time in this house.
It was so nice to communicate with you as well and make sure The Little House was complete for their stay! The guys were excellent guests and I’m so glad you chose The Little House for their stay!
I hope your other son enjoyed his championship game and played well too!
LOVED our time!
We rented this home over Ring Weekend for West Point and it was just perfect! My son (a cadet) said the home was the perfect getaway from school and it was so relaxing and comfortable. On the first morning the coffee pot broke and Joely brought us a new one! She is a great host and we appreciated her 'quick to the rescue' assistance!
It's also only about 30 minutes from West Point...an easy and lovely drive!
