Dog friendly cabin
Loved this little cabin in the woods. Clean and well equipped (except DVD player did not have a remote so you could not set up or watch special features. A minor problem and may have already been replaced). The view of the lake was very nice and the lawn furniture provided was comfortable. The beach access was not as convenient as expected as you had to walk or drive down a side road to reach it. The lake itself is crystal clear and although we didn’t use it ourselves (one of our dogs had just had surgery and couldn’t get wet) we enjoyed listening to everyone else having fun. We would certainly recommend this cabin and hope to come here again in the future!
The property is great. The cabin is cozy and has a great yard. The is beach is great.
My family of 6 stayed for three nights. My teenagers complained about the lack of wi-fi and cell service, but it was great to disconnect from everything and just have our own quiet spot in the world for the long weekend. The beach was quiet and lots of fun. We Kayaked and used the canoe. We highly reccomend eating at the Common Cafe, the food was amazing. And we spent a few hours at Squam Lake learning about native NH animals. It was a wonderful relaxing trip.
Charming shaded log cabin close to lake!
My wife, me and our yellow lab just visited for a week in mid-June and had a wonderful vacation. Owner cleaned and nicely prepped the cottage for our visit (their first of the 2018 season). Cabin interior has warm wood paneling, lots of windows and plenty of comfortable seating. We chose to use the soft indirect lighting which created a cheery warm glow (bright overhead lights are available when needed).
Stinson Lake is beautiful and clear. Enjoyed using the owner's family kayaks (canoes and rowboats also available). He and his brother kindly helped me transport an old Sunfish down to the beach so I even sailed a couple of windy days, which was a blast and brought back great memories from my youth.
The lack of Wi-Fi, cable and cell service was actually a benefit! It helped us relax, enjoy each other's company and be playful instead of staring at screens all day. We found free WiFi and cell service a short drive away so we were easily able to keep in touch with the larger world as needed.
Saw lots of wildlife including a yearling black bear, turkey, deer, a bald eagle and several loons, whose distinctive calls we enjoy immensely.
Overall, wonderful place to visit! Owner and family could not have been more pleasant and helpful. Highly recommended for a peaceful and enjoyable vacation! We plan to return.
Beautiful cottage nestled in the woods!!!
My girlfriend and I stayed at the cottage end of October for fall foliage and hiking. We had an amazing time despite the rainy weather we had... Luckily we made the most of the vacation (Reading by the woodstove, movie marathons on the dvd player, walking to the lake, fishing, hiking). Was everything we imagined for a vacation. Didn’t have service so be aware, but was perfect for relaxing.Bill the owner was awesome and made sure we had everything we needed before we arrived. We will definitely be returning next year.
A peaceful stay in the heart of the White Mountains
My wife and I had a great stay at this cabin. The proprietors where very welcoming and even came to check in on us periodically. The kitchen is well appointed, and there is plenty of seating and lighting. Despite the unseasonably cool weather, we stayed warm with the help of the small electric heater, though there is a wood stove as well. We didn't have any cell phone reception, but we didn't miss it at all; after our days spent hiking the Whites, we were happy enough to spend time toasting s'mores over the fire pit and lounge in relative comfort.
Much of our trip was spent in and around Lincoln and the Kancamagus Highway, which are roughly a 40 minute drive away, but even if you chose to stay near the cabin, there is much more to do in the area than we realized. The lake is a short walk away, as are a few trails, and the Polar Caves are a short drive past Rumney. Next trip, we'll certainly look into all the area around the lake has to offer.
Overall, I highly recommend it. Kitchen utensils, pots, pans, and plates are abundant, but be sure to bring plenty of food, towels, bedsheets, etcetera. We left a supply of s'more-making ingredients for the lucky traveler who stays here next. Thanks, Bill and company, for making our first adventure in New Hampshire an experience to cherish!
Perfectly secluded and well kept.
Our family of five had a wonderful time vacationing at the Waimea cottage. Inside the cabin had everything we needed. We arrived later in the evening to the lights on and the space heater already warming the cozy cabin up. It was clean and very well kept. Outside was exactly what we look for in our early fall getaway. Great yard, access to a charcoal grill, fire pit, chairs and a picnic table. The beach access was just a short drive down the hill and even though we stayed so late in the season we still had handfuls of opportunities to get in the water. The swim rope and floating dock were helpful for my three young children. We all enjoyed the picturesque view of the surrounding Mountains while boating. We also enjoyed exploring the Polor caves and the Rumney general store. Bill and his family were very accommodating and easy to reach when we were in need. We would definitely return for another stay.
Nestled in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, and on a beautiful tranquil lake, Waimea cottage offers a variety of opportunities for both tourists and people who enjoy outdoor activities. A private field for this cottage offers plenty of room for activities when not at the beach or out enjoying the area.
