We spent Christmas one year up here and it was love at first sight. I wanted to be in the Mountains but needed things for my boys to do. The town of Boone just a short 5 miles away has it all, restaurants, movies, shops but most of all the people are so warm and friendly.
Horseback riding is a favorite and now with Dutch Creek Trails down the road it's great. Zip-lining is also new to the area and that is definately exciting.
Totally enjoyed the lovely log cabin in the Mountains. It provided a really needed restful visit. Home has a covered porch on the back of the house that looks down over a pond. There are rockers and a picnic table out there and it was perfect. We ate all our meals out there even in the fog. Home was beautifully decorated. It was like living in a piece of art for a few days. Bed very comfy, nice baths and great kitchen. Couldn't ask for a nicer place to stay. Close to lots of things to do. We will stay here again.
We have rented Maggie's cabin three times and are always very pleased with the property each time we go. There are so many things you can do that are within a 15 minute drive. The cabin itself is an ideal place for getting away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. As soon as we walk in the door, it is like we are in our home away from home. We have experience summer, fall and spring in the cabin. Each season has been amazing. If I could stay in this cabin year-round... well... I would! Thank you Maggie for having such a relaxing place where we can rest, relax, regenerate. We look forward to staying with you again soon.
Maggie's place was all that we could ask for in a cabin rental near Boone and Grandfather Mountain. It was amazing. The décor is lovely and perfect for the mountains. The view of the pond and the surrounding property are beautiful and serene. We were close to many places that we wanted to see and had hotel like accommodations. It was perfect and we plan to return again.
Pictures can be so inviting, and usually I find myself disappointed once arriving at a rental. However this time the pictures did not do justice to Maggie's Place. The Cabin was exactly what we were looking for, from the wonderful stone fireplace to a front porch overlooking the lake, Maggie's cabin was perfect. The decorating told you someone really cared about providing guests with a mountain retreat experience. In the end we found ourselves wanting more, more time to fish, more time to explore & more time to breathe the fresh air. We are already planning our next visit!
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Maggie's Place and it was wonderful! When we arrived we were amazed. The heat was on, the beds were made with comfy flannel sheets, and the place was beautifully decorated. We felt like we were at home.
The view from the cabin is breathtaking. We saw deer in the yard and the partially frozen pond was serene with Canada Geese floating about. We sat on the front porch and let the cool mountain air take us away. We soaked in the candle lit jacuzzi after a long day of snow skiing.....it was heavenly! Basically we relaxed and enjoyed...no schedule, just us and mountains.
The location was perfect... centrally located and minutes from downtown Boone, Banner Elk and Blowing Rock. We were in the mountains but not far from great restaurants and fabulous antique shops in all three neighboring towns, the theater at Appalachian State University, snow skiing at Sugar Mountain and Beech Mountain, hiking at Grandfather Mountain, and the original Mast General Store.
When i was forced to make contact with reality, I had a question about accessing the wireless Internet connection. My call was answered immediately and within seconds I was connected. Maggie was friendly and attentive and ensured that our stay was perfect!
Thank you Maggie....we will be back to stay with you again next year and maybe bring the kids along... maybe!
