About Douglas Evans

My wife and I purchased this cabin to enjoy with our two sons. We love lake Couer d'Alene but can not always enjoy the cabin as much as we would like to.

Douglas Evans purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Douglas Evans chose Harrison

We chose Carlin Bay because of the location on the lake. It has beautiful views with sun almost all day.

What makes this cabin unique

The cabin sits very close to the lake and has a seawall and private boat ramp. It is also just a few minutes drive to Gozzar Ranch golf coarse and if you have boat, a 10 minute boat ride to Black Rock across the lake. The bay is perfect for water skiing, wake boarding, & tubing.

Perfect Vacation to the end of our summer!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first VRBO rental and we stayed at the Douglas Evans Cabin August 3-10. We wanted to get away for a week with our boys before taking them to U of I, and this was the perfect place for us. The beds were comfortable, the cabin was well stocked; including a washer and dryer and window box AC (which kept the place pretty cool). We had breakfast and coffee on the deck in the morning and watched the sunset at night - the view was fabulous! We rented a boat from Harrison Rentals (If I remember that right?) and they delivered it to the private dock right in front of the cabin. There's a marina, a two minute boat ride away, where you can gas up and we had lunch there one day. It was busy, but we got in and the food was nice. My favorite part, aside from being with family, was walking out on to the dock after dark and looking up at the stars. We saw quite a few shooting stars. I would highly recommend this place. Just a couple suggestions:

1. Book a boat rental in advance. They Booked up.

2. Bring one more fan for the downstairs, there was one, but another would have been perfect if you are sleeping more than 6 people.

3. Bring a card table or folding table for games or eating inside. The only large table, other than the kitchen Island with 4 bar stools, was the outside patio table.

We would definitely stay again, the cabin was clean, beautiful, and Douglas was very pleasant to work with!

Fantastic stay!

  • 5 of 5

The house is beautiful. Very well located just by the lake. We had a fantastic time with 4 kids between 8 and 18, and every one was delighted.

Doug made our stay ultra easy and we felt very welcomed.

We only wish we could have stayed longer!

Thank you!

Perfect Family Vacation on the Lake!

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of five with children ranging in age from 3 to 13 and we had a fantastic time at the cabin! Doug was very easy to deal with and our logistics were seamless. The cabin itself was very clean and fully equipped with everything we needed. It is located on a beautiful part of the lake with crystal clear water and a wonderful westerly view which made it great to watch sunsets. While we were there we took full advantage of being on the lake by renting a boat and paddleboards from Harrison Water Adventures which we had delivered directly to the dock at the cabin for a nominal charge. The kids really enjoyed tubing behind the boat and having the chance to explore the lake during some beautiful weather. We also booked a half day fishing charter with Lake Charters. Don and Susan, the owners, picked us up at the dock at the cabin and we had a great time on the water fishing for Pike. Our entire family thoroughly enjoyed our time at the cabin and look forward to returning next summer! We would gladly recommend this cabin to our family and friends.

Perfect Lake House

  • 5 of 5

We thought this home was perfect for our family. This home easily accommodated my family of 8, including me and my husband, our 4 children and my parents. It was quiet and peaceful and the views are amazing. The location is perfect with close access to a boat launch and fuel. It's a quick trip to town by both car and boat. After playing all day, we enjoyed the fully equipped kitchen to cook in and the fire pits outside for s'mores. The home has TV and Wi-Fi, which is great not only for us adults, but also for our 3 teenagers and 1 tween. The deck has plenty of room for our whole family to sit and enjoy our meals and it is the perfect place for our morning coffee. Doug (the owner) is so easy to get a hold of and was very quick to respond to any questions. This house sits right off the highway, but it sits far enough away from the actual road, that it's super quiet. There are neighboring houses, but they sit far enough away that it still feels private. This part of the lake did not have a lot of water craft traffic which we preferred. I would recommend this home to anyone who is looking for a great vacation on the lake. The only drawback in my opinion is the steep driveway, which was not a big deal for our family, but it could be a problem for anyone with mobility issues. We stayed in this home last summer and have already reserved it again for this summer.

Great holiday

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay very much. The house was very clean and cozy. The satellite TV was a big hit when we were home in the evenings after a hard day of boating. The property is at a great location. Very close to the marina and boat launch and the water in front of the house was usually very calm so we could skii up until dark.

We would return to this house.

Private and Serene

  • 5 of 5

Our family thoroughly enjoyed the week we stayed here! The cabin is warm and cozy, with every room completely modernized (Wi-Fi, big screen TVs, updated bathrooms, etc.). The deck is wonderful and a perfect place to watch sunsets. With Carlin Bay just around the corner, it was easy to launch our boat and so convenient to have it docked just out the back door. The landscaping is amazing, with grassy patches for playing games or morning workouts. When not on the lake or enjoying the cabin, we hiked nearby Mineral Ridge and biked the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes. We definitely have plans to return!

Cabin is approximately 1 mile from Carlin Bay Marina. Great place to put your boat in the water and get gas. Carlin Bay also has a restaurant and bar.
