Overview

About the property

Comfortable, Peaceful Oceanfront 2 Bedroom 2 bath Home On Large Garden Estate

Situated on Oahu’s iconic North Shore (aka the 7-mile miracle) this house is perfect for a relaxing oceanfront getaway, or family vacation.

With its unique location on Pohukoa Loa way, this house offers unrivaled access, while remains quiet and secluded. Whether you want to stay at the house every day and have the world-class surf break out your back door, or enjoy the surf from a distance and watch the professional surfers ride waves, or if you want simple, convenient access to the nearby beaches of Lani’s (Turtle Beach), or Chun’s Reef you are just steps away from both. The house is perfect for everyone, it is neatly secluded off the busy Kamehameha Hwy, and protected by a reef, this house will offer seclusion, relaxation all perfect for those looking for a safe, enjoyable experience, away from the crowds of the North Shore, and Oahu.

From the time you enter the property you feel like you're in Paradise with the beautiful landscaping, flowers, rock formations, and trees all leading to your personal view of the pacific ocean.

For the beach goer, there are several options of family-friendly, white-sand beaches a walk away with fun waves for all skill sets, including wonderful snorkeling, kayaking, boogie boarding, or just lounging in the sun.

For those wanting to surf, this house is an ideal location for beginners to professional level surfers. For the more experienced surfer, you can paddle out to Lani’s, Jocko’s, Hutlin's all from the backyard, these breaks, in the winter, offer some of the most challenging and beautiful waves in the world. Expect low crowds as you have your personal launching point right off the reef into the break. And for the beginner to intermediate surfers, you can surf at the iconic Chun’s Reef, which is only a 2-minute walk east of the house. Chun’s is a safe, fun, and easy wave to surf. Surf schools are parked there daily, so it is easy to join a lesson.

Unlike other ocean front homes, you have the water in front of the house completely to yourself. The pad of sand and the tide pools, are perfect for the kids or aspiring marine biologist; visitors frequently report sightings of Sea Turtles, Monk Seals, Octopus, Tropical Fish, Starfish, Crabs, and much more down within the rocks and tide pools of the beach. Plus the rocks prevent people from wandering into your area, along with keeping the sand safe for kids of all ages to play and parents to relax even in many of the winter months when the surf is too dangerous to be at any of the beaches on the North Shore.

While winter brings the famous Haleiwa surf community to life, summer is an ideal time to take advantage of the peaceful calm waters and incredible clarity, you can snorkel with the sea turtles, or kayak and stand up paddle along the iconic coastline with your family.

Summer (April to October) - Warmer temps, high 80s, mostly sunny, flat to low surf. Ideal for snorkeling, SCUBA, SUP (stand-up-paddleboarding), kayaking, sailing

Winter (November to March) - Cooler temps, high 70s, occasional showers, high surf*, Triple Crown Surfing competition. Ideal for Surfing, watching pro surfers, boogie boarding.

*Wave conditions are often very localized, so if the waves are too big on the beach, you can usually find calmer water at a more sheltered beach. Strong currents can make any beach unsafe at any time during the year, ask a lifeguard about ocean currents or look for warning flags and posted beach conditions.

The North Shore, has become a hub for unique and delicious food, art galleries, and local-home grown farmer’s markets. Whether you want quick, inexpensive delicious food from the many food trucks, or upscale restaurants like Jameson on the Sea, or Haleiwa Joe's, the north shore has something to offer everyone in the family. Personal Favorites in Haleiwa include: Beet Box Cafe, Elephant Thai Food, V-land Tacos, Surf and Salsa, and Scoop of Paradise.

A slice of paradise

  • 5 of 5

We were fortunate to have chosen this cottage for our 9 day stay on the North Shore of Oahu.

The description and pictures gave a true representation of the property but could not convey the feeling of the local culture or the history of this property. The Location is amazing.

Our typical days was Sunrise, watch the surfers on the first waves of the day over coffee from the comfort of the cottage. Breakfast at one of the small local spots in Haleiwa, 5 minutes away.

Take a surf lesson at Chuns Reef, about 200-yard east property. Made sure we took the two-minute walk west to Turtle beach and watch the Sea Turtles arrive on the beach about 11 am. We viewed many of the turtles feeding on the green plant material growing on the rocks various times during the day. Snorkeling with the turtles, golf at Turtle bay resort, or spent time in town just visiting with people while enjoying shaved ice. Dinning on weekends gets a bit crowded. We took some local advice, picked up grilled chickens from local vendors and sides from local market and enjoyed it, and the sunset at the cottage. I have only positive things to say about the house. It is old but in tip top shape and well equipped. If you heed Stu’s suggestion on where to place fans on warm days you will not need to run the AC and benefit the on and off shore winds.

The host, Stu was a remarkable person. He goes out of his way to make your stay a truly memorable experience. We are looking forward to returning to paradise.

Cottage with fabulous views of the ocean and, in particular, the sunsets.

  • 3 of 5

We only had a couple of days here but it was a great base to explore the North Shore. The photos in the listing are a true representation of the property. The views are as good as it says!

The cottage was very hot, but it is the middle of summer. There are air conditioners in both bedrooms but they are noisy. To be effective, AC really requires closing the room up and we were loathe to do this because it would have excluded the cool sea breezes which came in over night. We used the fans provided.

The closed in verandah was great, as was the lovely garden. The cottage would be fantastic if it were opened up more with larger windows, etc.

The property feels very secure with security gates at the street entrance.

We very much enjoyed our time there and that fantastic view.

Great Vacation Spot

  • 5 of 5

The description and photos accurately describe the cottage, yard and beach. We found the location beautiful and the cottage perfect for our stay. The pools left by the outgoing tide were full of life including turtles sunning on the rocks. The air conditioning in the bedrooms was essential for a July visit. It was too warm to spend time in the kitchen preparing food. But, we were on vacation so we had dinner at one of the great food trucks.
