About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Bunk Area, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6-8)

This cabin is situated on secluded Spoon Lake and is the perfect getaway for a family looking to enjoy the beauty that northwest Montana has to offer with the convenience of town just minutes away. Spoon Lake is seven miles outside of Columbia Falls, Mt, which offers grocery shopping, restaurants, and sporting equipment. Located less than 15 miles from the West Entrance to Glacier National Park, the cabin is centrally located between the National Park and the other great things that Flathead County has to offer.

The cabin can comfortably sleep 8 people with an upper loft housing a queen bed. The main floor is a cozy open floor plan with a full kitchen, dining and living area. The main area of the bottom floor has a double/full bed. There is also a bunk room that sleeps four and a laundry room with washer and dryer. All floors have spectacular views of Spoon Lake and the surrounding mountains.

Spoon Lake is a “motorless” lake and your family can safely enjoy sunbathing, swimming, canoeing and fishing (make sure you check on current local fishing laws). The lake has an abundance of wildlife for you to enjoy as half the land surrounding the lake is protected National Forrest. The cabin is situated up on a hillside with a gentle winding path that will take you down to the property’s dock and canoe, which is there for your use.

Flathead County has a lot to offer for the outdoor enthusiast. There are multiple locations for hiking, mountain biking, whitewater rafting and tubing, horseback riding, fishing and fly fishing, and golf all within 30 miles of the cabin. If you bring your own equipment, many activities can be done steps from your door.

For those that enjoy the finer things in life, Whitefish is located just 20 miles away and offers higher end shopping and dining. Whitefish Resort at Big Mountain offers spectacular views of Whitefish Lake, more shopping, and many of the outdoor activities listed above. Bigfork, MT, is an artist community with galleries and local Montana products and is located 35 miles from Spoon Lake. The area has so much to offer.

To get to the cabin, fly into Glacier International Airport and take a short 20 minute drive. Other options include Missoula, MT with a 3 hour drive and Spokane, Washington which is a 4 ½ hour drive. No matter how you get here, it is beautiful.

Beautiful Spot!

  • 5 of 5

The property was perfect for our Glacier NP hiking vacation. The property is very well kept and had everything you could need. We spent most of our time out on the trails, but thoroughly enjoyed relaxing in the evenings at Spoon Lake. The loons calling in the early morning were an added bonus. The peace and beauty of this place is wonderful. We would definitely stay again.

Amazing stay on Spoon Lake, close to everything for a family of 6.

  • 5 of 5

This Spoon Lake property was the perfect fit for our family. It is in the perfect location for exploring Glacier National Park. We were able to hike at Glacier, raft on the Flathead, Zip-line in Whitefish, and come "home" to the Spoon Lake Cabin for down time. The lake is peaceful and quiet at night, the fishing is active from 7-9 pm. My four children had the trip of a lifetime. I can't say enough wonderful things about this vacation rental. The owners provided directions to grocery stores, restaurants, local sights, and more. They also provided fanny packs with bear spray for hiking, and coolers for day trips inside the park. Taking the canoe out every evening was very relaxing for the kids and adults. I would give more stars if the option were available. Perfect in every way. Thank you! My wife and I cannot wait to return!

Clean and comfortable house on small, quiet lake. Convenient to West Glacier park entrance and also to Columbia Falls and Whitefish. The owners were helpful and responsive throughout. Great vacation!

Fantastic Spoon Lake Cabin Experience

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is beautifully situated on Spoon Lake in a completely private and peaceful environment. Listening to the loons calling on the lake is a beautiful sound, and canoeing on the lake at sunset is magical. The cabin was nicely laid out, well appointed, comfortable, and a perfect place to relax on days we weren't going to Glacier. The access to Glacier is very convenient (about a 20-25 minute drive to the west entrance via back roads), as is access to Columbia Falls for shopping and other needs. Whitefish is also less than 30 minutes away for a wide variety of activities. Highly recommended!

Wonderful secluded home on quiet lake.

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at this home immensely. Quite clean, well stocked and peaceful. There were 8 of us including 4 adults, 3 teens and a preteen. it was a little tight in the bunk bed room, but the kids adapted. Overall very comfortable and a beautiful view accompanied by the wonderful call of the loons. The photos accurately reflect the property. The only disappointment we had was there is not a kayak which was listed in the online description, Not a super big deal for us. We think it is probably gorgeous there in the fall and winter.

Glacier kept us pretty busy so we did not spend loads of time at the house or on the lake. It is a bit of a hike down to the dock, not for the infirm. The lake is clean and not freezing cold (in August).

We enjoyed exploring Whitefish and spent an afternoon up on Big Mountain. Whitewater rafting with Glacier Guides was one of the highlights for us, as well as seeing abundant wildlife around the park, including bears, a Mama Moose with her baby, mountain goats, bighorn sheep, a coyote and several hawks. We dined all around the area - the Back Room was recommended but we found it a bit chaotic. We did enjoy our dinner at the Rising Sun Motor Inn and thought the best value and good casual dining was at West Glacier Restaurant just outside the entrance.

Wish we could come back every year. This is a terrific vacation area and the Spoon Lake House was the perfect place to rest our heads at night. I have already recommended the house to friends who want to visit Glacier.

Owner's Response: We are glad you enjoyed your vacation, and apologize for the misunderstanding on the kayak. Unfortunately VRBO combines kayak and canoe under one description. We tried to clarify this by indicating that there was a canoe with paddles and life jackets just underneath the kayak/canoe heading.
