Fabulous base for Coast Guard Academy graduation and family gathering

  • 5 of 5

This is a truly special property, equipped with all you could need for a relaxing get away. Three generations of my family stayed here for the week of Academy graduation - enjoying the Sound views, gathering for meals easily prepped in the fully stocked kitchen, and taking walks in the neighborhood and on the beach. One full bathroom (+2 half baths) meant we scheduled showers (also a beach shower, but it wasn't warm enough during our stay), but it easily accommodated 12 guests in comfortable beds and multiple sitting areas. We arrived during a rain storm and the fireplace made for a cozy first night event too. 15 min drive to all things in New London, and CGA. Host Mary was responsive to any questions. Water views were spectacular - lighthouses, ferries, and the waves.

Spectacular family vacation

  • 5 of 5

Okay, so a solid week of beautiful sunny weather helped, but our family had a wonderful time in this beautiful and well equipped home and another home nearby. We had family members from 18 months to 70 years old and put the crib, high chair, every toy, the kayaks and a paddle board to good use. The beach is beautiful and nicely contained for the younger kids. It was a short walk to the Ocean Beach boardwalk for ice cream and music after dinner. The grassy area next to the house allowed badminton and whiffle ball and cartwheels. The kitchen is big and well equipped. We had a hard time leaving the beautiful house and beach for an afternoon in Mystic. We were in CT for a wedding... We had such a great time that we will be trying to think of an excuse to go back!

Exceeded all expectations... which were high!

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful views of the Bay and lighthouse especially from the balcony of the master bedroom of this beachside survivor of the 1938 hurricane.

The lovely accommodation is family traditional, well appointed and generous (6+ bedrooms). It absorbed our British daughters' wedding party of 10 happily with plenty of escape room.

The attentive owners fixed any challenges and the breakfasts at Doreen's 'Broken Yolk' diner were humungous and memorable.

Highly recommended in every way. White sands for the kids. Only wished we could have stayed longer.

Beautiful house/ amazing view!

  • 5 of 5

Ten of us stayed here for our ten-year CGA reunion-- and this home helped to make the long weekend epic. The house is beautiful both inside and out and shares a unique history with the USCG. We had plenty of room, the kitchen has all the amenities, the dining room table seats at least 10. We enjoyed coffee on the sunny breakfast porch, and cocktails in the lawn chairs 20 steps from the ocean. This place actually has 2 half bathrooms & one full bath--it worked just fine for us. We highly recommend this property for graduations or parents weekend; we chose to stay in Neptune beach because many of our classmates were also able to rent places the immediate area. Our group intends to return to this home in the future--we just absolutely loved every minute of our stay. The owners were a delight to work with and even decorated the house with festive autumn pumpkins and gourds. Thank you, Gail & Mary, for everything!
