About Carolyn Nelson
I take great pride keeping The Cottage clean and updated. I am very particular when it comes to cleanliness and personally work to insure high standards are maintained. It is truly my pleasure to share this magical place with you. I love exploring the woods, cross country skiing and venturing out for the day visiting other areas close by. Do not miss Kakabeka Falls! There is excellent down hill & XX skiing close by with miles of groomed trails for people of all ages and abilities. The best hiking trails are just behind The Cottage! They are second-to-none and offers bird's eye views of Lake Superior & surrounding islands. I have the utmost respect for the power and beauty Lake Superior beholds. Guests are sure to feel the spirit of Gitche Gumee and appreciate the nature, serenity & animal neighbours who call this special place home. I enjoy traveling and believe it broadens ones perspective of the world by teaching tolerance, respect and understanding of people and different cultures. I look forward hosting you soon! P.S. Ask about great accommodations in Minneapolis too!

Why Carolyn Nelson chose Neebing
This spectacular place has brought to me, friends, family and guests many cherished memories, healing escapes & heart-thumping adventures. This is truly one of my favorite places in this world.
What makes this Cottage unique
Thunder Bay is a cultural city growing in business, economy and population. It also hosts an International Airport and several universities. The airport and city is only 25 minutes from The Cottage where you can find quality stores, fresh meat, fish & produce and fantastic restaurants. There are many year-round cultural events, festivals & adventures in the Thunder Bay area, which is very rich in history. My favorite place is residing at The Cottage overlooking ever-changing magnificent Lake Superior, but I also really appreciate the convenience of having a city close by.

Amazing amazing amazing. Perfect
It IS a little far from conveniences like gas and groceries but if you plan that in, it was a perfect location. We saw bear and cubs and fox. Hiked to picnic point. The yard is perfection. The only thing that could make it better for me would be a hammock. I really wanted to nap to the sounds of the waves
Beautiful cottage situated on Lake Superior that felt like home the second we arrived! Carolyn was wonderful to work with, communication was excellent and we encountered no problems with the stay. We highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for an get away from every day life.
Falcon's Ridge Cottage
Overall this is a wonderful rental. Very clean, and has most amenities that you'd need for your stay. The communication from Carolyn was great, we found the place with no problem, and getting in was a breeze.
We used the hot tub 2 or 3 times, and spent time down on the lake dock / deck area as well as on the deck by the cottage catching some sun as the weather was very nice. The fire pit area is also inviting although we didn't have a chance to use it. It's definitely located "off the beaten path", which for us is what we were looking for. It does take a bit of a drive to get to any restaurants, stores, or some of the Provincial parks. Kakabeka Falls was about 45 minutes away and worth the trip. From the cabin we watched 2 buck deer in "velvet" nibbling on pine trees down by the lake shore, saw numerous fox in the area, and even saw a lone bear on the gravel road about 1/4 mile away. Beds were very clean & comfortable, and for 4 people this was an adequate size cottage for our stay. About the only thing we wished would be a little different is the internet as it was slow, but considering this was a vacation, trying to get away from stuff like this it wasn't all bad. It was a little harder on our 2 young adult children trying to post pictures of our trip on social media...but they survived! :) The Lake Superior view is great, and the Nor'Wester Mountains in the area are very picturesque. I'd definitely recommend this cottage if you're looking to escape to some peace and quiet!
Beautiful clean cottage right on Lake Superior!
The cottage was beautiful and spotless. It is well stocked with everything you could possibly need and was incredibly peaceful. Amazing views with a beautiful waterfront lower deck. The upper deck had plenty of comfortable seating with a great hot tub to soak up the views. We were able to rent a canoe right up the road and putted around the bay. There are also some great hiking trails right from the cottage, picnic point off of Mink Mountain was our favorite. Would highly recommend this cottage to anyone.
An oasis of peace and tranquility
We enjoyed a lovely relaxing stay in beautiful surroundings. Carolyn is a great host and was very responsive to any queries we had. The property is very clean and fully stocked, and the garden and pier are wonderful. We could have sat on the decks and pier for hours and were very sad to leave. We will be recommending it to all of our friends.
Wonderful weekend with my daughters
The place is clean, nicely decorated, in the right size for 3-4 people; super close to TB, with all the necessary amenities and then some... I will definitely come back. My daughters and I spent a quiet, relaxing and wonderful weekend at the Cottage
