Overview

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 3.5 Baths, (Sleeps 2-6)

'Oh My Gosh, its beautiful. That is usually the reaction when everyone walks through the front door of this beautiful contemporary home. This is a perfectly located property that is so convenient to all the wonderful amazing sites all around Belize. The rental of 7 passenger van is offered for $35/day, which gives you the freedom to explore at your own pace, and a great savings on tour guides. Staying on the mainland saves you a lot of time and money because you can drive yourself to all the Mayan Ruins, cave tubing, canoeing and hiking. You don't need to get back and forth from the island to do this, just jump in the vehicle and your on your way.

This is a newly built contemporary home, with its open floor plan that allows everyone to participate in the fun. A great dining room table that seats 8 comfortably, right off the kitchen that is furnished with all stainless steel appliances. The kitchen is equipped with everything you will need to cook up some wonderful meals during your stay. There is a sound bar with Bluetooth connection, large flat screen TV, WIFI, and so much more.

You are located in a quiet, remote neighborhood, with the view of the Sea from the private balcony off the master suite or from the large rooftop veranda, where you can sit in the evenings and gaze at the stars and the full moon.

The large master suite, located up what looks like floating steps, has a cozy queen bed, and when you wake up in the mornings, just look out the sliding glass door to watch the sunrise without getting out of bed. It has a large walk in glass tiled shower with massage jets and a rain shower head.

Step outside to your private balcony where you can have breakfast, or an evening cocktail, while watching a possible manatee swimming the waters below.

There are two bedrooms, both with queen beds, on the main level of the home. One bedroom looks out onto the pool and the waterside, with the cool Caribbean breeze blowing through the windows with a private bathroom. It is whimsically decorated and bright and cheery.

The second bedroom, with a larger modern bathroom is decorated in blues and browns which make you feel nice and cozy. All bedrooms are air conditioned for those possible steamy nights. There are fans all around the main living area. Open the sliding glass door and the windows, there will be plenty of Caribbean breeze blowing through.

These bedrooms are separated by a small office space where you can catch up on your emails and send photos of your daily adventures.

All adventures are easy to get to in the van waiting for you upon arrival. Want to try zip lining, or cave tubing? Visit a Mayan Ruin or two. Hike through the jungle and visit a tribe of Howler Monkeys. Or hop on a water taxi and walk the sandy streets of the islands. All this and more can be done as day trips

Let us know your flight arrival and we will arrange airport / or water taxi transfers for small fee.

Check out our other property on VRBO #510007 and if you book more than 10 nights at both properties receive a 10% discount. What a perfect way to spend your vacation, truly enjoy everything Belize has to offer.

About Laura

Originally from Atlanta, myself and my 2 daughters have lived in Belize for over 20 years. We have enjoyed all this beautiful country has to offer. We have explored every inch of it and still love seeing more.

I enjoy showing off this country to my friends who visit. They see it with such amazement and leave with such great memories.

I have a small business that I created about 14 years ago, and now my girls are all grown up living abroad, but every chance they get, coming home to Belize is top on their list.

Laura purchased this house in 2008

What makes this house unique

When you are looking to explore, your vehicle is in the parking lot waiting for you to jump in and head to the ruins, or all around the country. The van is available for an extra charge of $35/day. If you want, a driver/guide can be arranged for you. Stop in at a local hot spot and get a cold beverage.

If you desire, a cook can be available for your convenience.

All mishaps with the vehicle is the responsibility of the guest. (Flat tires, broken windshield, etc.)

Clean home, off the beaten path in Ladyville.

  • 5 of 5

1st things 1st. Make sure you get the exact address from Laura before arriving into Belize. Customs and immigration would not let us in because we did not have the exact street address of the home. We looked all over for it, in the contract, the listing etc, and could not find it. After about 20 mins of negotiating with the immigration officials they left us in. Rene was on the other side of immigration to greet us. He took us 5 mins to the house. I read a lot about how Ladyville isn't safe, but we didn't feel that way at all. It was super safe, and everyone was really nice. The home isn't in the town, it's back some dirt roads, in a very quiet neighborhood, with no other neighbors or homes around. The house was really clean, some toiletries were provided. The van was clean and reliable. We didn't have to deal with the car rental which was 10-15 mins away from the airport, so that was nice. The pool was awesome, and Rene came often to clean the pool, but stayed out of our way and left us alone. He was tentative if we had questions which was helpful. The deck was nice, and the bedrooms were beautiful. Having satellite TV was awesome, especially in the evenings since it gets dark so early. The internet was good to have as well.

Terrific House!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent two weeks in the house with 4 teenagers and it worked out perfectly for us. The house was well equipped and all of the appliances worked including the washer and dryer. The automatic van was a wonderful bonus. The house was well designed with the pool in the shade during the hot afternoons so you don't burn while cooling down, the teenagers spent a lot of time in the pool. The landscaping is lovely and we enjoyed feeding the visiting iguanas in the yard with melon rinds. The location of the house is far enough away from the city proper and in an area with nice houses. We found easy access to all of the tours and the book in the house was very informative. Rene stopped by the house frequently for anything else that we had questions about. As with others, we chose this house because we wanted to do excursions and the cost to travel to and from the cayes more than a couple of times would be prohibitive. We did do breakfast an a few meals in the house but most of the time we dined out at the restaurants in the city or close by. The local grocery store was well stocked and prices were reasonable, for a more American style grocery store there is Brodie's in the city that carries more imported goods but be aware, in some cases the prices are double what you would pay at the Ladyville grocery store for the same item.

The perfect location to explore the Belize City area

  • 5 of 5

We had a 20 day tour of Central America that ended in Belize and wanted to spend an extra three days to wind down. We considered staying on one of the cayes, but elected this house instead because we wanted to do more than beach activities and the availability of the van was a real plus. It was an excellent choice for the six of us. The neighborhood that you drive through to get to the house is not the most upscale, but that should not deter you, because there are other nice homes nearby, the house is very secure and we never felt unsafe. The views of the canal and the Caribbean are great, the pool and deck were nice and clean, the wi-fi worked well and a cell phone was provided if you don't otherwise have international calling.

It is about 30 minutes from the pier in Belize City, so one day we took a water taxi to Caye Caulker to get our fill of the island activities and another day we drove an hour to go cave rafting. While there is not a large selection of nearby restaurants, we tried two that were excellent - Captain Hook's Shrimp Restaurant (where they don't have much except shrimp, but the shrimp was great) and Manatee Lookout (which had great burgers and Lebanese food). There is a grocery store less than a mile from the house that took care of all our needs for breakfast foods, snacks and drinks.

You will not find a better place!!!!

  • 5 of 5

I don't know where to begin, the morning sunset or the 3 min ride from the airport. This was place was amazing. I visited Belize for the 2016 Carnival festivities and this place was absolutely everything we needed. Watching the morning sunrise while having coffee on the balcony of the master bedroom or breakfast out on the deck. We took a 30 min drive out to ALTUN HA to visit the Mayan ruins. We went to several parades and concerts in the city which turned out to be only a 10 min drive so we were never far from anything. I highly recommend this place for anyone traveling to Belize. Even if most of your time will be spent in the city, this would still be a better choice than any of the hotels.

Five Star Accommodations for a Three Star price!

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful experience!

I have not a single negative thing to say about the listing and our stay!!! Yes, it does indeed deserve three !!!

Great email communication before our arrival. Rene was waiting for us at the airport for pickup. The van (though not new) was large and fit 6 of us and all our luggage (1 large bag for each couple) with room to spare.

The house is in Ladyville, close to Belize City but safer. Ladyville is safe to walk around during the day but not at night. House has a fully chained and locked fence for complete safety.

The standard transmission van enabled us to travel to Lamanai: the tallest of all the ceremonial Mayan ruins in Belize, near Orange Walk. We also drove out to the zoo (a must do!), cave tubing, rv-ing and zip lining with Butts-up. It is about 45 minutes to the water ferry in Belize City to head out to Caye Caulker, where we went to snorkle and enjoy the laid backness of the island. We even had the opportunity to drive out onto the Hummingbird Highway to go cave spelunking and cave tubing (very different from Butts-up) at the Blue Hole National Park.

Rene is on call at all times and took care of an unexpected flat tire without delay.

Make sure to read all the reviews as they are all helpful with your stay.

We will never do a resort vacation again !

  • 4 of 5

I am so in love with taking vacations that are "off the beaten path" ..... and renting a home or condo just outside of the touristy areas is my favourite way to travel. Laura's waterfront home was exactly as advertised....maybe even better; clean, , all the modern conveniences, and the pool was fantastic. The kitchen is very well equipped, including a nice variety of local spices, etc. Not that much cooking happened other than breakfasts ! We were "on vacation" after all...... A washer and dryer, television with a DVD player and hundreds of movies, deluxe towels and lots of them !! Big fans for the main part of the house that isn't air conditioned. The A/C and fans in the bedrooms worked wonderfully for a great night's sleep.......

We are a group of 4 "fifty-something" ladies, not afraid to explore on our own and having a vehicle provided with this rental was an unheard of bonus.

Ladyville is a great little community outside of Belize City where we felt safe and were able to shop and dine out. A couple of outings to the Cayes (Caulker and Amber Gris) were easily accomplished and we really enjoyed snorkelling and wandering around the beach towns once we got over there. The house on the mainland was a great base for exploring nearby attractions such as Altun-Ha, the Cave-Tubing and Belize Zoo.

Rene was the house manager and he was very helpful; picking us up at the airport (10 mins from the house) and suggesting places to go, etc. We really appreciated that he was at the end of the phone in case of any problems......AND a cell phone is provided that we just bought minutes for at the local grocery store.

We all felt that we had experienced the REAL Belize......not just the cookie cutter resort style vacations that never vary from country to country.

Oh, we loved "meeting" the resident iguanas who lived around the house but wished that they would eat a few more of the nasty little bugs that liked to feast on us......do bring some good bug spray.

We would like to thank Laura for being such a good hostess......although she was out of the country during our visit, she was in contact with us by email and made sure we were happy with our vacation. I would highly recommend this home to anyone wishing to get away from it all .... in Belize !
