Space 1,500 sq ft
Property type farmhouse
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

Farmhouse, 3 Bedrooms +1.5+ Baths, (Sleeps 5)

Travel back to a simpler time in our family friendly island cottage, a fully renovated 19TH CENTURY FARMHOUSE with PANORAMIC OCEAN VIEWS, surrounded by meadows, an orchard, stone walls, 24 acres of conservation land and TWO OCEAN BEACHES.

Our THREE+ BEDROOM HOME comfortably sleeps five, in a queen room, a double room, and a smaller room with a single bed and trundle which is reached by a back staircase. The second floor full bath has a shower stall and an antique claw foot soaking tub. The half bath is on the first floor. A brand new Danish wood stove creates a cozy hearth in our open plan living room, where antique French doors open on to a small porch looking out over the orchard and ocean views.

At the northern tip of beautiful Deer Isle, our farm is a short two minute walk to the ocean beach and public boat launch, a short bike ride to Deer Isle Village, and a short drive to several farmers markets, fresh seafood, all the amenities of Stonington and Blue Hill.

About Ross Miller and Denise DiIanni

My husband is an artist and I am a filmmaker and our island home reflects our interests. My husband has turned our barn into a work shop and artist studio and we both cherish the community of artists, crafts people, artisans and writers on the island. Our two daughters fell in love with the farm right away, and look forward to our times there to catch up on reading, on beach combing and long lazy afternoons watching the sail boats and fishing boats pass by.

Ross Miller and Denise DiIanni purchased this farmhouse in 2008

Why Ross Miller and Denise DiIanni chose Deer Isle

Our family has vacationed in the beautiful Acadia region for twenty years and we know the area intimately. When we saw this unique property, we knew we'd found our home away from home. As busy city dwellers, the beauty and tranquility of Deer Isle offers a respite from our urban routines. As we drive over the Deer Isle Bridge, and the rocky Causeway that brings us to our land, the city falls away and peace reigns. The island offers a nature retreat, an ocean lover's paradise, and a community of people who care about arts and crafts, good food, conservation and the outside life.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Every window in our cottage looks out onto beauty - the ancient apple tree in the front of the house, the thriving fruit orchard, and the panoramic ocean views. During the days, the porches provide the perfect spot for reading that novel you've been saving, or sipping sun tea and eating the fresh baked goods from the local, organic farmers market. The views inspire the artist in all of us, and the fresh air and quiet feed the soul. A great spot for day dreaming and star gazing. Challenge your friends and family to one of our classic lawn games, or at the day's end, play Monopoly, Clue or Taboo around the glowing wood stove. The out buildings and sweeping lawns create a sense of your own small family compound and retreat. Enjoy great natural beauty and the many amenities of the area, or stay put and relish the rare charms of a life on a saltwater farm.

Guestbook comments from the owner

..for your wonderful hospitality. We absolutely loved the cottage - Wagmore indeed! So peaceful, so beautiful. We enjoyed the surroundings as well. Love 44 Coffee Shop, and the local cafe and had great days in Stonington. Thanks for all your help and suggestions for what to do on Deer Isle. What a treat!

Charming and cozy

  • 5 of 5

This is a bright and cheery, cozy and charming cottage on a quiet road. It is surrounded by fields, the view of a beautiful neighboring farmhouse, and the ocean only a short walk away. The owners were readily available for questions and suggestions of things to do and places to go. It felt very private with a stunning starry sky at night. I highly recommend this as a vacation spot for small families, honeymooners, or good friends.

Great place and surroundings

  • 5 of 5

We found this cottage while searching on-line and it was as described and absolutely perfect in lots of ways. The pictures show the place very well, the location and overall description were accurate.

We were looking for a low key, low stress country cottage experience, and this was it. The property has all necessities there for you, including a great set of spices and kitchen tools, making things very relaxing and easy. Lawn games and garden to cut flowers from too.

The owners were quite helpful with emails and lists of suggestions of things to see and do, and you will find library with informational books about local plants, animals, and Maine history related books in the cottage as well.

Wonderful house in a peaceful and beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in the house a week at a time for two summers and thoroughly enjoyed our vacations there. Beautiful views of the reach, nearby beach for swimming and boating, a terrific kitchen and comfy beds. Nice selection of reading material and a good audio system. Very quiet neighborhood, and 1/4 mile down the main road is Yellow Birch Farm with organic cheese and produce and art! Would stay there again.

Very sweet place, restful, beautiful country landscape

  • 5 of 5

Well managed, and owners very helpful for details that made out stay enjoyable. Lawn and lawn games made it fun to stay at the cottage, and starting from there are hikes in conservation land, and ocean beach walks from the cottage in two directions. Beautiful dark night sky full of stars, and wonderful cool night country air. Hope to stay again.
