Lovely and large stone patio in the backyard looks out upon the horses. This house is very popular for family reunions, families on vacation with children, animal lovers, and people visiting the area for special events such as weddings and graduations.

Two of the other three bedroom include queen beds and the last bedroom has two twin beds. There are also a queen sized inflatable beds if you so choose.

The kitchen opens out onto the back stone patio and yard. There is a barbecue under the redwood tree. A wide variety of birds make their rounds through the yard.

Friendly goats and chickens on the property add to country feel. In the summer, a large vegetable garden out front. Staying in this vineyard bordered house give you the authentic feel of what Sonoma County has to offer.

Along the side of the house is a large corral with two milking goats and their babies. Depending on the season, we offer you fresh goat's milk, eggs, and vegetables from the garden.

A caretaker lives next door. She is available to assist you in any way.

What is fascinating about this part of Sonoma County is the constant evolution of food and wineries. Just within a few mile radius there are several renowned wineries. Graton and Sebastopol both offer a wide range of culinary and shopping opportunities.

From a recreational standpoint, there are many beautiful bike rides, some on roads, some off-road and some on dedicated bike paths. The Russian River is nearby with all the water activities it is famous for. Armstrong Grove has its 1,000 year old trees to roam around and explore. About Glenn Kenyon

I am a bilingual math teacher and father of an 14 year old boy. We live in San Francisco. I grew up in this Sebastopol house. My favorite activities include water sports, kempo karate, and skiing with my son. I spend as much time as possible in Sonoma County because I find it so beautiful and interesting.

Glenn Kenyon purchased this house in 1973

Why Glenn Kenyon chose Sonoma County

I love Sonoma County. I love the Russian River area, Sebastopol and the coast. I love riding my bike around the area and discovering new restaurants and wineries. I also love just hanging out on our property, watching the birds and relaxing under the redwood tree I planted nearly 40 years ago.

What makes this house unique

This house is in a wonderful location. It is 5 minutes from Sebastopol in one direction and 5 minutes from the Russian River in the other. Right in front of our house is Mom's Apple Pies, a restaurant and bakery founded by the mother of one of my high school classmates. And the garden that our caretaker puts in each summer is amazing.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Glenn:

We had a wonderful time at the Sebastopol House last week. The weather was ideal and the location was central to our interests. My son, Kenyon Lorbati and daughter, Amy Lorbati, joined us for a relaxing and fun get-together. We visited Occidental, Guerneville, Healdsberg, Bodega Bay, Armstrong State Forest, and several times, Sebastopol. Shopping and wine-tasting filled in any spare time not spent reading, writing, drawing, chatting or just resting in the hammock. The beds were comfy and we slept well with the cool nights.

We enjoyed great food in area restaurants and grilled outside for 3 of our dinners at home. I appreciated the well-equipped kitchen as we cooked meals together. The garden, chickens, sunflowers and stable added to the fun. Cecilia was friendly and helpful. Her gift of fresh eggs provided the best breakfast scramble we’d ever had. We returned the favor to the chickens as we ate lots of veggies and fruit and rewarded the hens (and rooster) with scraps. My niece and family (2 teenagers) stayed Friday and Saturday night. The boys and adults had a great time playing cards and games, and making S’mores at night.

We all fell in love with the little black kitten.

Many thanks,

Great place!

  • 5 of 5

My family is from the area (Sonoma/Marin Counties) but we had a family member getting married close by. We found Glenn's place on VRBO and it made things super convenient to stay near by (and in an awesome setting). Thanks Glenn! You saved us a lot of hassle.

Loved the back yard!

  • 3 of 5

The house is roomy & the back yard was wonderful! It was very hot the weekend we visited & the house has no air conditioning. There was a swamp cooler, but it didn't work either so we put fans all around & spent most of our time under the trees in the back. The next door goats provided some entertainment until they got out of their enclosure. They headed toward the road so we felt the need to try to herd them back (twice!). It was too warm for that much running! But all's well that ends well, right? The kitchen could use some more utensils & the beds some new sheets (we noticed some stains). But Glenn & Cecelia did the best they could to make our stay comfortable. They were communicative & tried to be proactive. We enjoyed visiting the Dutton winery & Russian River Winery down the road in either direction. Russian River Winery has music Friday nights as well as a restaurant, FYI.

Owner's Response: I am SOOOO sorry about the swamp coolers. I immediately bought two new ones but could not get them to the house in time. We do not live an area that normally needs air conditioning, so the house does not currently have it. I am researching whether things have changed. The swamp cooler is usually all that is needed, but a previous guest's child had put a toy in the grate and that broke the motor, I suppose. :-( I just bought new sheets and pillows for the beds and new cutlery for the kitchen. I am unaware of what other items might be missing, but asked the groundskeeper to investigate As for the goats, we have placed locks on the gates now so that people don't accidentally forget to close them. Goats are goats, but thanks for getting them back into their field!!! Every piece of feedback I use to maintain and improve the house and property so I thank you for this.

The location is great, but cleanliness and overall furnishings were lacking.

  • 3 of 5

Enjoyed the French bakery across the street. The house is older, not updated and cleanliness was not the best. It felt like it needed a deep cleaning.

Owner's Response: Hello, I was very sorry to hear that the house did not meet your expectations. I will take your suggestions to heart, but I am left a little perplexed by the cleanliness observation. I just spent a weekend in our house and found it clean and prepared for summer visitors. I am aso a little confused because my May visitors have been very positive about the property. Feel free to contact me directly with suggestions on how I may have improved your stay.

Great Relaxing Location Home away from Home!

  • 5 of 5

This home is so centrally located and suited to mixed families (I’m a beer head and my wife likes wine). We had plenty of Pliny’s and some great Zins, Pinot’s and Cabs. Close enough to The Russian River, Dry Creek and countless other wineries. 20-30 minutes from the ‘Beautiful’ coast (Highly recommend Goat Rock state park) and 20 minutes to the Red Woods of Armstrong Forest! And, you have to go to Mom's Pies… Only problem there was too many to choose from. We'll see you next year for sure. Enjoy! Cheers!

Country Peace and Contentment

  • 5 of 5

We were seeking a place just to let down, and relax from the very VERY busy grind of daily life, and we definitely did find it here. We lacked for nothing, everything that we could have required was here, and all 4 of us slept so well, even with the "Rats with Feathers" (chickens). Thank you for such a wonderful retreat from our normal busy life.
