Spacious Lakefront Home with Large Dock and Deck

Bedrooms 4
Property type house
Minimum Stay 0 - 4 nights

About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 13-14)

Enjoy this spacious 2240 sq ft lakehouse with a large dock and 100 feet of lake frontage. From the large deck, enjoy the wonderful views of Flathead Lake, Wildhorse Island, and the Mission Mountains.

In the morning, the water of Big Arm bay is peaceful and serene. Enjoy your coffee on the deck overlooking the still glass water. Usually the bald eagle or osprey will fly overhead looking for fish in the water. The kids will head down to the water to swim and play until they've tired themselves out. Head down to the dock and join them, or toss around the frisbee in the grassy lawn between the house and the water. It's a good spot for volleyball, badminton, or any outdoor games we have or you care to bring.

Later in the day, the breeze may pick up and bring out the sailboats. Big Arm bay is their favorite and you can watch them sail out the bay to Wildhorse Island. It's not far and you may want to go out and explore it yourself. If you bring your own boat, you can moor it at the dock, on the buoy, or even bring it out of the water on the boat lift.

In the evening, the lake is once again quiet and glassy and now a waterskier's paradise. As the sun sets on the lake, you all sit around the fire by the water, make smores and talk about all the fun you had.

There are enough beds to sleep 12 people with four bedrooms as well as a living room and family room which double as sleep rooms. On the upper floor, the master has a queen bed and it's own bathroom. Also on the upper floor is a second bedroom with a double-size futon which can sleep two. It also has access to the bathroom. The kitchen and living room are also on the upper floor. There is a spacious dining room table to seat everyone and also an upright piano for entertainment. The lower floor has two bedrooms, one with a double and two twin beds, the other with a queen and a single bed. There is a bathroom between them. Also on the lower floor is a family room which has a double-sized hide-a-bed sofa.

There is no shortage of things to do with water sports, golf, horse back riding, a nearby bike / running track, or fishing for huge lake trout. There is Big Arm boat rentals just down the way at the marina. Big Arm Bar and Grill is within walking distance. We also recommend Mo Fisch Fishing Charters, Polson Country Club, and Cheff's Ranch Horseback Rental.

If you're looking for excursions, Glacier National Park, the National Bison Refuge, Wild Horse Island State Park, Whitefish, and Lake Mary Ronan are only short distances away and it's a beautiful drive in any direction.

About The Owner

We live in western Montana and love to have fun in the water in the summertime and ski in the wintertime. We enjoy hiking in Glacier National Park and our lakehouse makes a great base camp for exploring the park.

The Owner purchased this house in 2011

Why The Owner chose Big Arm

We chose our lakehouse because it was so family-friendly and suited our many needs. It is nestled in the trees and feels secluded, yet it has a big grass lawn and is quite level right at the lake. It is close to the water so we could watch the children play from the deck and be close to the action.

What makes this house unique

Staying on Big Arm Bay is unique because sailboats use the bay and the straits around Wildhorse Island. The bay is calmer than the main lake and the sailboats are quiet and peaceful to watch.

There is a running/bike riding trail near the property which leads directly to Big Arm State Park and if you go the other direction it leads to a quiet little marina. An old tree just to the east is a favorite perch for large birds of prey, such as bald eagles and osprey. You can watch and photograph them right from the deck!

Nice yard and dock. House could use some updates.

Enjoyed the yard with playset for small children. Good access to lake and nice dock. House could benefit from some updates and more thorough cleaning.

Roomy and Comfortable.

  • 4 of 5

My family and I fully enjoyed our stay on Big Arm. The home was clean, large, and comfortably fit the nine of us with room to spare. It is unfortunate that some of the furniture has been abused by previous tenants. (at least I assume it was renters) The recliner and sofa appears to be in good shape until you sit in it. The dock is huge the water crystal clear and we all enjoyed swimming. We were also surprised the last morning there by a beautiful black bear wandering through the yard. Will be definitely be staying again in the future.

The owner should really post some updated pictures of the outside.

Family Fun!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time during our stay. We were very lucky that this house was within walking distance to our parent's lot at Big Arm. The house was beautiful and the kitchen was wonderful to work in, because we were cooking for a lot of people. Loved sitting out on the deck in the morning and the evening. The shoreline was great and it has a nice dock. The only problem we had was that there is not a lot of parking down by the house. We ended up parking people up at the top of the driveway and having them walk down, which was fine except that there were some scary looking dogs at the top of the driveway. They were chained up, so they would not get you, but scared us pretty good the first few times we walked by there. Overall, we had a great time. Thanks, Sue Carneal

Car: recommended

Wonderful, quiet location. Just a short walk to Big Arm Marina, Big Arm Bar and Grill, and Big Arm State Park. It is a beautiful drive in any direction. Glacier National Park is less than an hour away. There are multiple live theatre productions nearby: Polson Players, Bigfork Playhouse, Whitefish Theatre Co. Also look for the Glacier Symphony & Chorale concerts and the Festival Amadeus in the summer. In the fall, the lake is beautiful with the color changes. There are delicious apple and pear trees on the property, help yourself. In the winter, ski at Blacktail Ski area or Big Mountain, and if the bay freezes over you can icefish and iceskate, or icefish at Lake Mary Ronan, 18 miles away. Springtime, get out early and your boats on the water and don't miss the Mack Days Lake Trout Fishing Derby. Catch a fish and make some cash!
