About Ashley Sabo

My husband and I have been married for 16 years and live in Charlotte, NC. We have two wonderful children and two great dogs. We both love the beach and actually met in Charleston, SC

Ashley Sabo purchased this house in 2011

Why Ashley Sabo chose Eastern Shore

Cape Charles is a wonderful town on the Bay that has something for everyone to enjoy. My parents discovered this unique vacation spot years ago, that has since become their home and our vacation home.

What makes this house unique

Our home is perfectly located in the town of Cape Charles. We are 5 blocks from the beach, and only one block main street where there is great food and boutique shopping. I enjoy running and excercise and love that we are one block from the gym, and can take off in any direction and have an amazing scenic run. My husband is an avid angler, and has enjoyed the best fishing of his life with my father who is 'the best' Charter Captain on the Eastern Shore. Our children love the beach as they can walk out and it remains shallow for a long distance and the waves don't knock them over.

Welcome to Pleasantville

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to Cape Charles after spending alot of time at Chincoteague, VA. Cape Charles is much more relaxed, quaint, walkable, and dog friendly. Our labradoodle was able to walk on the beach every day before 9 AM and after labor day, he could spend the day on the beach with us. We loved the golf cart for getting around town. The beach is very nice and very gradual, so one has to walk out quite a ways to submerge up to your waist. The water was very clear though, and not like typical bay water. There is alot to do in the vicinity including fishing at the town dock or with Captain Cropp at Wise Point landing down at the southern most point of the peninsula. We particularly enjoyed the walk to Savage Neck Dunes, just about 20 min drive north. It was again dog friendly and you end up at a beautiful secluded beach. Our favorite lunch takeout was the Taqueria El Rancho in Cheriton. It is very authentic Mexican and very cheap. The house was perfectly located and furnished to make us comfortable. There were cable TV's in every bedroom and in living room, so one could watch exactly what you want in the evening. The front porch was a great place to sit and relax and watch the goings on of Cape Charles. There are lots of nice places to eat including Deadrise Pies just around the block, Kelly's Pub in town, and the Shanty a short drive around the harbor. We enjoyed it so much, we spent a fair amount of time with a realtor looking at properties for retirement.

Enjoyed our stay

  • 4 of 5

Owner was very responsive, much more communicative than previous vacation houses we've rented. House was very nice and clean. Only one issue, back yard area needs some mosquito control and probably lack of drainage near the heat pump is primary root cause. Would recommend to others this is a good owner to rent from

Good place to relax with family

  • 4 of 5

Our family of 4 adults and 3 children enjoyed our stay here with plenty of space. All the basics are there and more. The beach is fantastic for toddlers and young children. For our older boys we took a trip to Chingateague Island one day so that they could play in some waves. There are a couple of good restaurants in town. We enjoyed the Shanty, Local Flavor, and the taco food truck that was at the beach on Friday and Saturday. Loved the town park and playground! Renting the golf cart is a must!!!

Ashley was a great host- easy to get in touch with and very helpful. Thanks for a great week of family memories!

Nice comfortable house for a laid back week at the beach.

  • 5 of 5

The house was spacious, well appointed and comfortable. The sideyard driveway made it easy for arrival and departure loading/unloading. Garden hose at the driveway was perfect for rinsing sand off feet, floats and our dog. We spent a good deal of time in the evenings relaxing on the spacious front porch. Easy access for coming and going with key less lock. We rented their golf cart too and the setup was great for parking and recharging. We look forward to staying there next summer.

'Gone to The Beach' -Charming and Well Equipped with Classic Beach Vibe.

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at 'Gone to The Beach' with great decor and conveniences. We were only sad that we didn't have more friends and family come and stay to share the experience. House well equipped for several people and many beach home and town memories. Loved the stroll into the main parts of Cape Charles and found that driving to the beach made the most sense. Would recommend to anyone looking to enjoy a great family getaway at a small town pace. Not to far from Virginia Beach if you are looking for more excitement, but we enjoyed staying right in Cape Charles and the simplicity of homemade ice cream, tennis in the morning, coffee shop breakfast, great local theater, Above par meal at The Oyster Bar and several pool and beach days, with plenty of time to lounge on the back porch and play board games. We will definitely re-book next year if we choose Cape Charles for our summer vacation spot!
