About the Property
2 bedrooms, 1 full bathrooms, sleeps up to 6
Cape May is known for its great attractions: Restaurants at Cape May are fantastic, ranging from upper scale ones including 410 Banks Street, Peter Shields Inn & Restaurant, Washington Inn, Pier House, and Union Park. Popular moderate/children-friendly restaurants include Lucky Bones, Island Grill, Henry’s on the Beach, Harpoon Henry’s (at North Cape May), Dry Dock, and the Lobster House.
Shopping is also popular; the Wash. St. Mall has over 50 shops/restaurants/bars to visit. In addition, Carpenter’s Square Mall and City Centre Mall (located in the 400 block of Washington Street) are enclosed malls comprised of 10-20 small boutique-type shops. Cape May’s historic Congress Hall Hotel also offers a selection of independently owned retail stores. Clay tennis courts are 1/2 mile away, public golfing 4 miles.
Cape May also offers attractions for those who like to fish -- check out fisherman’s wharf, and the South Jersey Marina for its MidAtlantic $500,000 tournament, whale watching excursions, and deep-sea fishing trips.
The town of Cape May is a rare beauty: Travel & Leisure Magazine named it among their list of 'America's Favorite Beach Towns' in its May 2014 issue. Money Magazine listed it as the Best Summer Vacation Spot in its May 2014 issue. The Travel Channel named Cape May to its Top 10 U.S. Beaches in 2013. Cape May #2 in the U.S. & 9th in the world in its 2011 Traveler’s Choice Best Beach Award. Forbes magazine placed Cape May on its list of 'America's Prettiest Towns' in April 2010.
Only Cape May’s beach goes from east to west, letting you enjoy both sun rises and sunsets on the same beautiful beach. Our favorite beach is located at the intersection of Pittsburgh Ave & Beach Ave, across from the Peter Shields Inn. This is further from the crowds, but still provides a bathroom & outdoor shower. The beaches further down Beach Avenue provide more restaurants, fun arcades, etc. Keep an eye out for the friendly Cape May dolphin, which frequently cruise up & down the beaches.
Along with trips to the beach, check out the Cape May Zoo, rent bicycles, go kayaking (H&H Seafood provides kayak tours), whale/dolphin watching on various charter boats, explore the Cape May lighthouse & surrounding nature paths, view the beautiful Victorian homes & historic landmarks.
Other fun things are available.: Tennis players can rent clay tennis courts just a half a mile from the house. The Cape May National Golf Club's public course is just a short 4 mile drive away. If the weather is bad, you can take your car on the Cape May/Lewes Ferry, and shop the antique and Tanger discount outlets in Delaware.
Cape May is considered one of the top 10 birding hot spots in North America, with more than 400 species having been sighted. Visit the nearby Wetlands Institute with salt marsh trails, aquariums filled with turtles and horseshoe crab exhibits. Cape May Nature Center right on the harbor is busy with harbor safaris, guided kayaking trips, biking tours, family hikes, and beach explorations. You can also visit historic Cold Spring Village, or catch a play at Cape May Stage, a professional Equity theater in a small, intimate setting. In July and August, resorts sponsor an abundance of summer concerts, most of them free, outside and with the ocean and sunset as a backdrop.

About the owner: Leanne and Mike live in Mid New Jersey. Both like to keep active and enjoy the outdoors. The photo above shows a picture of Leanne as we were kayaking the harbor area of Cape May.
Why the Owner Chose Village Green, Cape May, NJ, USA:
We had been traveling down to Cape May for years, since we enjoyed the beautiful beaches, scenic town, and amazing restaurants. We finally decided to purchase a home in the area, so we could enjoy it year around.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Ever since seeing this home, we fell in love with it. The previous owners had kept it up, renovating the living room, kitchen and bedrooms. Over the years, we've done the same, building in an outdoor patio, enclosed outdoor shower, renovated the bathroom completely, and upgraded the smaller covered "veranda". We enjoy visiting our home throughout the year, looking at it as a great "getaway".
