The Barn is our home in beautiful Big Sur. The white water views and the south coast views are awe-inspiring.
Our guest house is attached, but we prefer not to be there when guests are in residence. If you haven’t been to Big Sur now is the time to plan your visit. There are plenty of hiking trails for beginners and experienced hikers. Come and enjoy our magnificent scenery. Enjoy our beaches. Pfeiffer Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. We can’t believe how lucky we are with nothing to impede our view. Photographers line up on the beach to capture the waves crashing through the natural bridge at sunset. The waterfall cascading into the ocean at Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park is mesmerizing. I love to sit at the peak of the Andrew Molera State Park Headlands Trail, and watch the cresting waves from behind them as they spray rainbow colors.
My husband and I purchased our barn home more than a decade ago. At that time the road to the barn was a mud and bumpy track up the mountain. It was scary. The road was dry and dusty in summer and a treacherous mudslide in winter. Recently the road up to our home has been paved. I never thought I could be so excited about asphalt.
We have put a lot of time and love into making our home a delightful place to share with friends and family. We hope you will enjoy your time there. We have had many guests enjoying romantic get-aways, even some engagements and a wedding! Sadly, we can no longer accommodate weddings.
Belinda’s Barn is wonderful place in which to read or write a book, meditate, or enjoy the simplicity of living like a Big Sur local. It is a fabulous romantic get-away. If you would like to stay here please check with me for availability. With the exception of holidays, the cost per night is $450– plus tax for 2 people, $600 plus tax for 4 people. Tax is 10.5% per Monterey County Transient Occupancy Tax. We do have a strictly enforced minimum 2 night stay. Smoking is prohibited. Sadly we cannot accommodate children or pets.
In addition to two bedrooms, the living area consists of an open kitchen – dining –living room. There is a cozy reading nook with views down along the south coast. The nook is often a favorite place to sleep. Some guests cannot tear themselves away from the nook at night. Star gazing is a must from the nook. There is nothing quite like the diamond-studded velvet Big Sur sky. Our spacious ground-floor second guest bedroom is blocked off when two guests only are staying.
Our reception are functions as an office/study with a desk for those who might like to work away from others.
I love to cook, so the kitchen is well equipped. We have lots of books and music for your enjoyment. We have a television. We have high-speed wireless internet service. Talk to me about food shopping before you come.
Staying at the barn will give you the authentic Big Sur experience. This includes the joy of power-outages in a storm! Be prepared. Bring flash-lights and bottles of water. I look forward to meeting you soon.

- Our property spans two sides of a private gated road. The barn is located in the east meadow with views down the south coast. Guests are welcome to explore the west side which is particularly beautiful for sunset watching over Pfeiffer Beach. The beach is a 20 minute walk down the paved road. We are on the closest ridge to Pfeiffer Beach. Pico Blanc is a majestic sight from the east meadow - particularly wonderful to see from our dramatic adult-size swings! We have the best of both worlds with mountain and ocean views. Despite their eating habits, we love the deer who share the joys of our meadows with us. You never have to leave the ridge. There is lots of hiking available. We are 2 miles off higway 1 and 1 mile up the mountain. Big Sur village is close by as are the superb restaurants at Ventana and Post Ranch, and many more. It is an easy drive south to the waterfall at Julia Pfeiffer Burns, and 5 miles north of Andrew Molera State Park. We have 2 fabulous outdoor cats....moreless

The living accommodation for two people is upstairs over the barn and enjoys spectacular views. If you have trouble with stairs this is not for you. Living accommodation for 4 people includes downstairs bedroom.
50% deposit is due at time of reservation. Balance is due 30 days prior to your stay. Payments can be made by check or PayPal. If you would like to use PayPal please let me know. $100 damage deposit. No refunds 30 days prior to occupancy.
Fee for extra guests is $150 per night.

Location Location Location! 'No one can build between me and Hawaii.' That's certainly what it feels like as we enjoy uninterrupted white water views on the west side of our property. Watching the sun set from our sunset bench is a must. Equally, watching the sun rise over the mountains and the south coast is inspirational from the east side of our property. Watch whales as they migrate in the winter and summer months. Enjoy the occasional fly-past of condors, and the ever soaring Hawks, red-tails included. Savor the rush of Quail, and the stories of Frogs. Search the tide-pools for anemones, crabs, star fish and much more. Be in awe of the monarchs during their twice yearly gathering, and feel the rush of the sometimes seen Bobcats parading the mountain. All of this with barely a step. Our home is located on the west side of highway 1 up a paved, private electronic gated road right overlooking Pfeiffer Beach. Walk to the beach in 15 minutes. Award winning restaurants are just 3 miles away, as are the casual dining and drinking haunts of Big Sur. Fifteen minutes north and south of the highway will take you to extraordinary view-spots like Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park and the Mcway Falls, or the Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, or Bixby Bridge and so much more. We chose to purchase this home because of the superb views, and the wonderful location within walking distance of Pfeiffer Beach. When we bought the barn it was run down and barely habitable. Today it is a delightful, simple and calm retreat.
The Unique Benefits at this Barn:
The white-water ocean, iconic south coast and mountain views are unique. We have a pair of swings in the garden from which you can soar over the valley and take in the south coast and mountain views. Being just 3 miles from highway one on paved roads makes this an unusually accessible property in Big Sur where most of the roads are dirt tracks. We are centrally located along the Big Sur coastal stretch. It is easy to get to all the hiking trails and beaches as well as the restaurants and tourist attractions. We looked at many properties for sale in Big Sur before buying this one. We were blessed that we could just about afford to buy a slice of 'heaven' and become guardians of this treasured space.
