My husband and I just returned from a week at Sapphire Beach. What a wonderful place! Sapphire Beach is beautiful, the resort property is well located to the beach, marina, and Red Hook. It is a snap to get a cab into Red Hook, with taxis normally right on the property--the ride to Red Hook is $4/person. We did not have a car and did not miss having one at all.
The condo is a first floor unit that has been renovated in the past five years, I would guess. The king bed is comfortable and they left ample towels. It has new cabinetry, granite tile counters, stainless sink and frig. There is a two burner cook top and a convection microwave. There is not an oven, dishwasher or washer & dryer. It did not bother us not having them--I mention only as a point of information.
From a maintenance perspective we were disappointed and informed the management. There were several missing light bulbs, the safe was inoperable, the phone out of order, the Wi-Fi never worked long enough to use, icemaker not hooked up, the divider would not move, there were cockroaches, and the outlet in the bath did not work(meaning I blew my hair dry using the microwave as a mirror). In general, the property was just not clean. When informed, the manager had the cleaning person come to replace light bulbs and to do a "deep clean" of our kitchen. Apparently--according to management, the outlet in the bath hasn't worked for several years. She responded to my second email the day before we left that the small key on my key ring was an override key to my safe(who knew that if you pry off the cover to your safe there is a lock?)
None of these things will ruin a trip--and they didn't ruin ours. They were just minor annoyances. I mention this to level set the expectation of those who will come after us. At the rate we paid, we had other choices--and looked at other condos while we were there for the week. Sapphire Beach is a great place to be!
Beach, beach, and more beach just steps from the condo patio. We sipped from freshly harvested coconuts swaying above our heads. My favorite was buying a Mahi Mahi from a fishing boat on the resort's marina then cooking it an hour after the catch. The condo has every cookware needed. The kids also enjoyed the pool but there isn't a better beach on the island--Great for snorkeling...The ferry is only a mile away if you want to see St. Johns on a whims notice.
We stay at Sapphire Beach Condos every summer. It's on a great beach, close to restaurants, and the ferries. If you have kids, there's always a few at the pool. Juliet has a clean condo and is very attentive. If you're looking for an affordable place in a great location on St Thomas, this is the place.
Beach from our condo was absolutely stunning. We arrived in the late afternoon but no places to eat in walking distance opened. (It seemed running out of business.) Location is just 5 minutes drive from Red Hook and it is very convenience. Our condo had a few maintenance problems such as broken divider between bedroom and kitchen, broken light bulbs. Although it is hard to find any parking spot anywhere, I recommend to rent a car strongly.
Just a stone's throw away from the turquoise Caribbean water, the condo on Sapphire Beach was perfect for our family. The unit was always cool and the outside seating area/mini terrace was great to eat at or have an evening drink while listening to the calming sound of waves. I recommend this place!
The condo was very well maintained and clean. The kitchen was well stocked with all one needed to make meals that could be served on the beautiful outdoor patio that overlooked the beach. The beach was just a short hop away from the condo. The bathroom had a beautiful walk in shower. Friendly customer service. Easy to travel to various attractions from the condo. I would definitely recommend this to friends and relatives.
