I own 3 bedroom, 2bath; 2 bedroom, 2 bath; as well as 1 bedroom, 1 bath condos at the Grand Pacific Palisades as well as at its adjacent resort (Marbrisa resort). Both resorts are 5 star. Therefore, make sure to specify how many adults and children are in your party. Specify the ages of the children. This is a great location to enjoy southern coastal California. Easy access to San Diego and Disneyland attractions as well as to wonderful beaches, dinning, and hiking trails.
Staying at these resorts is not same as staying in somebody's private home, instead you are staying in Hilton manged properties with full resort services and amenities. Wonderful staff always willing to help you, separate private entrance from this resort to walk into Legoland Theme park, and you can get resort concierge to help with reservations and planning your activities.
I was very pleased with our stay at Grand Pacific Palisades and extremely glad we rented through this owner. I've not used a vacation rental website so was a bit skeptical. The owner was very helpful in answering ALL my questions about the size of the unit (we had a two bedroom / two bath with a full kitchen and ample sized sitting area). We also had a nice patio. There are laundry machines on site, a restaurant attached the hotel (very good) and its within just one mile from LEGOLAND. The resort will provide a shuttle to and from the LegoLand Park. There are so many things to do in the area (food/beach) making it a great vacation spot. Also, the owner was highly accessible and responded to all my emails very quickly and also connected me with the resort so I could confirm all the details. All in all, it was a 5 star vacation. Be sure to check the check in and check out times, would be my only tip. The staff at the resort was excellent and they are very helpful all around. This was an amazing vacation and I have no reservations about booking this unit again. This is ideal for families with kids of all ages. There is an adult pool also FYI. The outlet mall is right down the street for any shoppers!
Second time we've rented this property, as it's ideal for families planning on spending multiple days at LEGOLAND. So convenient, very walkable to the park, so there is no need to fight the traffic or pay for parking, which comes in handy especially on weekends. LEGOLAND tip: arrive early, the front of the park opens 30-60 minutes early, do some shopping and scope out which rides you want to hit first, before the lines get ridiculously long. The new Chima section of the water park was a big hit with the kids (ages 8 & 10), especially the wave pool.
The property has enough activities for our children, teenagers.... not so much. We loved the fact we could utilize the full kitchen and convenient BBQs on site to prepare our own meals instead of eating out everyday. The family pool closes somewhat early, the 9pm closure was strictly enforced, albeit if you're enjoying the adult pool, it's open to 11pm nightly. The property has some activities daily, usually we'd attend if we found ourselves otherwise unoccupied, the free in room movie nights were too early for us to enjoy.
The location is convenient to anyone flying into San Diego or even John Wayne airports, you're just minutes away from some great beaches and Carlsbad Village (which although small, has some fun shops and dining options).
The Karl Strauss restaurant is adjacent to the property, my family enjoyed the weekend breakfast buffet, I thought it was just okay. Their beers were okay as well, although I'd highly recommend a 20 minute drive east to Stone Brewery & Gardens in Escondido, the food and beer are superior, as is the setting. My kids (8 & 10) loved their craft sodas as well.
North County San Diego is growing rapidly, with that comes some predicable freeway congestion, traffic can be tricky if you're planning on driving to the tourist spots (Zoo, Sea World, etc) Plan accordingly, and you'll enjoy your stay. Better yet, bring your golf clubs for some great courses in the area, visit the beaches in North County, or simply relax in this very nice property.
The good is nice sized rooms, kids pool, playground, bbqs and pretty view off patio. The bad is kids cant use main pool with ocean view except Saturday, kids run around unattended constantly, hard to find towel attendants to get towels for pool, basketball court outside our door, hounding in lobby to take tour of new facility, dirty rugs, dated and no w/d in unit(but laundry facility avail and ez to use).
We go to SD every year and prefer our own space as opposed to a hotel-like setting. People constantly around with kids screaming and yelling is not our gig and having to chase elevators to park and leave is a nuisance. Prefer our vehicle in front and not chase parking spots. Didnt hate it but didnt like it either. It was merely ok. We will not be back.
The property is very nice. The pool and other areas are perfect for everybody. My kids had many things to do. Rooms are comfortable and everything was so clean. The kitchen has eveything you need and everything works perfect...frig, dishwasher, laundry room...there is a bussines room with printers available. People working at the property are very friendly and helpful. It is so close to Legoland, Outlet, Costco, beaches...2 minutes to get the I-5. 25 min to San Diego and 1 hr to Disneyland. We will absolutly stay here again when we come back to California. We had a great time and since the beginning we had perfect comunication with the owner and he was very helpful. Do not look for somewhere else...this property is excellent!
I can't say enough about how wonderful this vacation rental was! The resort was gorgeous, the room was perfect (we came with 3 adults and 5 kids) and the staff was awesome! Everything was provided for in the room. It was very clean, great views and again it had excellent service!
The Palisades were right across the street to Legoland and only about 30 minutes from the airport, Sea World and the zoo...all places we visited!
We had such an amazing vacation. Dealing with Dr. Vipul was great and he was very accommodating and responded to emails quickly. We will DEFINITELY be back!
Excellent accommodations and location for week long vacation. Clean and well maintained. Easy access to all services and attractions.
Check out the "Build It" business for children. It is unique and fun, relatively inexpensive. The weekly Carlsbad Farmers Market is also nice to visit.
