Beautiful Hayden Lake in northern Idaho is located 8 miles north of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho and 40 miles east of Spokane. WA. Couples with or without guests or families big or small are all lining up their summer plans to enjoy an unforgettable week or more in their very own Spanish-style home. It is located on one of the choice view properties on Mokins Bay at Hayden Lake. It's a perfect setting for a cocktail, dinner or recreational party or just a family time of fun. There are many choices of places to sit, enjoy the mountain and waterfront view, visit, play games, soak up some sun, take nature walks in the private 14 acre forest, take a nap or swim. Enjoy boating on the lake with the Sea cycle, 8 ft Pontoon boat, 3 stand up paddle boards, 3 kayaks, paddle boat or the 17 foot 3 person canoe.

Great fishing June-Sept with consistent catches of 14-16 inch Kokanee (Landlocked Sockeye Salmon), trout, bass, northern pike and crappie.

Whatever your idea of a good time is, you'll find it here.

The open concept of the living/dining/kitchen areas makes for easy communication and good times whether it's your turn to cook or you get to keep the cook company. Bar-B-Q is available and an easy way of living at the lake.

Prefer a little less action and a little more serenity for fishing, cruising or just relaxing, consider June or September. Some of the best weather conditions and peaceful times can be experienced during the Spring or early Fall.

An added benefit to the beautiful Spring or Fall is our rates are considerably lower than high season so you can enjoy a quality, economical stay.

Reserve early, as many do enjoy this time period at Hayden Lake.

About Bob Gerend

We are retired for 12 years now and have enjoyed owning this home to enjoy ourselves when the adjacent home was being occupied by our grandchildren. So many good memories have been made here. We manage our 2 Hayden Lake rentals from our home in Auburn, WA and spend the winter at our home in Palm Springs, California.

Bob Gerend purchased this house in 2007

Why Bob Gerend chose Hayden

It became available in 2007 and made sense as we owned the home next door. We consider this the very best part of Hayden Lake and enjoy spending 3 weeks in the Spring and Fall enjoying our Lakehomes and doing annual maintenance.

What makes this house unique

Awsome view, privacy, so much to do or do nothing at all, home away from home type comfort. Everybody is always happy when they are here. It's perfect for just the two of us or our big family.

Very nice unit with amazing lake views! Very comfortable.

  • 5 of 5

We truly enjoyed our stay here. If anything would improve the property it would be to update the water craft available. Otherwise this place is fantastic! I highly recommend it to others and plan to return in the near future.

The owner and the property manager are extremely attentive and helpful. Everything seemed in working order. Fantastic experience here.

Owner's Response: Glad you had a good time and we look forward to your return. Next season, we will have the large floating dock relocated 10 feet farther out to make the sandy beach even more accessible. Bob and Pat

  • 5 of 5

This place is amazing!! We had a blast, the owners were quick with answers and the property manager was very friendly and made sure we had anything and everything we could possibly need. We will definately be back. Thank you very much for making such a great family vacation possible, it was just like having our very own summer lake house.

Enjoyable Property, though Dated

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at this home on Hayden Lake. The property was clean and comfortable. We did not meet the owner in person but Bob was very easy to work with and there were no hidden “surprises.” We essentially agree with most of the other reviews other customers have submitted. There are a few things that we think other customers should know in making a choice to stay here. First, the property is quite dated and needs extensive remodeling. All appliances and bathrooms (including the single tub/shower) are quite old. As it stands it should be considered semi-rustic compared to the newer places one might see on the lake. It is also smaller than the photos make it appear and it would be very tight to sleep six—which requires using most of the living room space by sleeping on a futon. It is well fit for 4 people, however.

This is not a property for small children as it is built on the edge of a cliff with steep stairs down to the water. There is a sheer drop off with no fence right out the back door. However, for our adult group this was not a problem and it afforded great views of the lake.

The final issue that brought our rating down to 4 stars was price. At $327 per night this property was overpriced by about $100 per night when its age and simplicity of amenities are taken into account.

In spite of these criticisms we did enjoy the home and would certainly return there in the future (but would not pay the same rate again).

The views made my wife and I happy. The water toys kept our boys busy all week.

  • 5 of 5

I loved our stay. The owner's communications were excellent. The pictures make the house look a little bigger than the house feels - but that has been true for almost every house we have rented. The chairs at the bar were amusing and our boys sat there whenever possible. My full size truck fit in the garage. The property was better stocked than most homes we have rented (toilet paper, tools, detergents, garbage bags, etc.). The lake views are amazing. There was even an eagle's nest overhead for heaven's sake.

We loved the house. Some folks might be bothered by the idiosyncrasies inherent in older homes. If you are expecting a brand new home with shiny new everything, then this might not be the place for you. However, if you want expansive lake views and you don't mind using a wooden stick to "lock" a sliding door (for example), then you will get comfortable beds, clean linens, great water toys and a great price.
