Just a short drive away is Hendersonville, NC and its many points of interest. Perhaps a day of enjoying the Carl Sandburg National Historic site, the beautiful waterfalls in Dupont Forest State Park where The Hunger Games was filmed, the many interesting sites in Pisgah National Forest, or exploring the Lake Lure/Chimney Rock areas would be on your agenda. Or, you may prefer the vistas of the Blue Ridge Parkway or touring The Biltmore Estate and other sites in the charming, historic city of Asheville.

Downtown Greenville, SC also offers wonderful opportunities as highlighted in US Air Magazine. Enjoy a walk down beautifully restored Main Street or head to Reedy River Falls Park to experience a walk across Liberty Bridge and the many restaurants and points of interest there. Also downtown are the Upcountry History Museum offering a remarkable look into the history of the people and places that make the upcountry of SC so special. The adjacent Childrens Museum is wonderful for all children. For art lovers the Greenville Museum of Art with a large permanent collection of Andrew Wyeth watercolors is in the same complex.

You may just desire to enjoy all the benefits of the Cliffs Valley including golf on any of the fantastic Cliffs courses. Whatever your interest, returning to 'The Stork's Nest' to relax from the events of the day will be a special pleasure. The home offers a master suite with a king bed, wonderful views, a private covered deck, a huge walk in closet and a bath with a large walk in shower or a turbo tub for unwinding. The main guest room offers a queen bed and one of the best views in the house. The large 3rd bedroom has 2 twin beds and valley views as well.

The well equipped kitchen includes granite countertops, high end appliances and all the refinements you expect in a quality home. It is open to the Great Room and breakfast area, all of which feature spectacular mountain views. In addition to the informal breakfast area there is a formal dining room with seating for 10. The screened porch, with wood burning fireplace, just off the kitchen and breakfast area may be your favorite place to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Carolina mountains or to kick back and read your favorite book.

We are certain you will enjoy a restorative experience whatever you do in this wonderful part of God's creation. Come and see for yourself what is so unique about the Cliffs Valley and the surrounding areas of upstate SC and western NC; but, beware, you may not want to leave!

About The Owner

I am a retired obstetrician (hence 'The Stork's Nest') and a golfer. My wife of 48+ years is an artist. Our primary home now is in the flat lands of Louisiana but we love the Carolina mountain area and the opportunity to enjoy as many different waterfalls as we can. We also love sharing 'The Storks Nest' with our family for the annual 'Cousins' Camp'.

The Owner purchased this house in 2009

Why The Owner chose Upcountry

We have enjoyed the Carolina mountains since the 1970's. When we looked for a retirement location we discovered the Cliffs Valley. The beautiful setting and ease of access to wonderful cities like Greenville, SC & Asheville, NC made this a perfect place for us. We regret that we are currently unable to spend more time there but our loss is your gain.

What makes this house unique

The moderate climate and wonderful changing views are phenomenal. Each morning is a new view varying from clouds in the valley, beautiful sunrises, spring & fall foliage changes and the opportunity to see abundant wildlife in a quiet private setting.

Gorgeous home and views

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful mountain views. The massive windows in this house let us enjoy the scenery inside and out. Very comfortable beds, spacious rooms, and high-end kitchen made for a great stay. Nice tennis courts in the Cliffs Valley and excellent roads for cycling nearby. We hope to get back soon!

Property was very nice, house was great, view was enjoyable.

  • 5 of 5

Came up to celebrate my wife's birthday along with our son, daughter, and son-in law. House was really nice and had everything needed for a good vacation. The view from the house overlooking the valley was really pleasing. The inside and outside fireplaces made for good times just kicking back and relaxing on a cold winter day and night. We enjoyed a short ride into Hendersonville for a very nice dinner at Renzo's. Would recommend Renzo's if you are in area. The hiking trails on the property were very good for getting your exercise in. The owner was pleasant and responded quickly. I would definitely come back to this great house and location.

Impeccable attention to detail, affordable elegance at its finest

  • 5 of 5

We've been staying in the Carolina mountains for special events, family gatherings, and fun vacations for about 10 years. We've stayed in beautiful hotels and fortunately for us, many fine homes through vrbo. This home, however, is really a gem, a rare find among the many great homes on vrbo. It is deserving of the many wonderful reviews before mine, and is better than advertised both in value and elegance. Thanks again Wayne for opening your house to us, we look forward to more visits in the future! Mark F from Palm City, Florida
