I have enjoyed the South Carolina coast since since childhood. We settled on Beaufort for our vacation home about 12 years ago. Our daughter was engaged on our dock and we enjoy family reunions every year. The laid back town offers beautiful waterfront activities, dining, shopping. Easy access to Hilton Head, Fripp Island, Savannah, Hunting Island.
Perfect setting for the couple or family wanting to relax on the porch or on the dock while watching the sunset. For boaters, this home offers a 30 foot float dock with deep water. Downtown Beaufort is approx. 5 minutes away, offering waterfront dining, shopping, historic tours, waterfront parks. Take your dogs for their morning walk and stop by coffee shop or the farmers market, sea food market.
My mom, sister and I spent a wonderful four days at this beautiful cottage just outside Beaufort, SC. The house was very clean and nicely furnished, with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a large living/dining/kitchen area. The best part of the house is the giant screened porch with a dining table that seats a mob, and a wicker seating area with room for eight. Outside is a porch, and the lawn leads to a fabulous dock with a gazebo, floating boat dock and stunning view of the water. We spent an hour watching three separate pods of dolphins as they made their way up river. The house is about 90 minutes from Charleston and 45 from Savannah, and there is so much to see and do in the area. The town of Beaufort alone is wonderful - very historic, with great restaurants and lovely people. It could not have been nicer...except for Hurricane Matthew. Unfortunately, the whole area came under a mandatory evacuation, and we were forced to leave five days before our original departure date. Although very disappointed, we're more concerned about the house and all the friendly people we met during our stay. Mike, the owner, is great, and we wish him the best as the area recovers from the storm. I highly recommend this property.
This is a great house. The huge enclosed porch makes the house. The view is spectacular, especially at sunset. The lot is large and well kept. The kitchen and eating area are well layed out. The bathrooms are a bit dated, but functional. Generally, the house is very well maintained. I rate it 4 out of 5, only because a call to the owner went unanswered all week. We were having trouble with the television and called for help and advice. No response, and yes it was his number with his name on the recorder.
This is a wonderful vacation home. It is beautiful, peaceful and stocked with everything you could think of. The queen bed needs some work and we were disappointed to not have bikes to use. Other than those two things, we would have given a five star plus rating.
Our family had the best time at this vacation home! From crabbing, swimming, & fishing to enjoying an afternoon thunderstorm on the large back porch. We enjoyed everything about our stay! The quiet and lovely area of the home made us feel as though we were far away from the rest of the world. Yet, town was just minutes away. If we weren't planning to move to Beaufort in the near future, we would return here year after year to enjoy the movie-like setting of this wonderful home!
P.S. The shower heads were lower than standard ones. But since I'm only 5' tall, I found it to be quite perfect. ;)
Was the best vacation we ever had as a family. We will deffently go back next year. Loved the peacefulness and privacy. Would recommend to anyone wanting the perfect vacation. Neighbors were wonderful and very helpful. Location could not have been more perfect.
