About John

Hey there, I'm John. I have been lucky enough to call Boulder home since 1990. I came here to study at CU, snowboard and mountain bike and fell in love with the town, people and beautiful natural surroundings. There are so many great things to do: hike, road bike, climb, do yoga, mountain bike, hang out at coffee shops, see live music, sip on a local craft brew or dine at one of Boulders culinary hot spots. When not doing all of those activities, I own an Adventure Travel Company and another entrepreneurial venture. You will also often find me on the ski hill trying to keep up with wife and 2 young daughters. During your visit we will be happy to point you in the direction of our favorite spots so you can be sure to experience all the best that Boulder has to offer.

Why John chose Newlands

Location, location, location. This home is located in Boulder's coveted Newland's neighborhood on one it's nicest streets. Surrounded by beautiful homes--the location is desirable because it is close to Hiking (trail head 2 blocks away), North Boulder Park, Downtown Boulder, Ideal Market (owned by Whole Foods and a great wine store, bakery and coffee shop. It is also in a quiet area of town, where after the days activities you can come back and chill on the back deck, fire up the bbq and stare out at the view of the majestic Flatirons.

The value of this property lies in its location: in Boulder and centrally located in a very nice neighborhood. If we had questions there was someone readily available by text. My wife and I lived there for 12 weeks and we were able to make ourselves comfortable.

Given the duration of our stay and the fact that I am on the older and larger end of the population, there were some challenges. The living room sofa, the master bed, and the toilets, all required a strategy for me to use as they were all very low. Two of the beds reminded me of my night in a motel six and the master mattress was not that good. We purchased a topper to make it comfortable. The kitchen also bears note. We had difficulty operating the dishwasher and were told we needed to push the door very hard so that it would latch. While my wife is no shrinking violet this became my task. We also had difficulty getting the ice maker to work and when we asked were told that it was not available. There were no sharp knives, no mixing bowls, no corkscrew. The first night in the home I was feeling for a spoon in semi darkness and the first three I touched all Felt like they had old food encrusted on them. I reacted to this similarly to the way I reacted the first time I saw the inside of the oven.

The home is very well-suited for a half dozen young people on a budget Who will never find need of a mixing bowl or an oven and carry a corkscrew with them everywhere. We found it adequate.

Cute Boulder house in a great location

  • 4 of 5

This comfortable house is in a perfect location for a vacation in Boulder. Our Australian Sherpard loved the fenced backyard and even had a mischievous squirrel to keep her entertained when she wasn't hiking with us. We had immediate access to hiking trails and an extensive system of bike trails. The extra bedrooms and bathroom allowed us to invite friends to come join us for part of our vacation. The only hitch was an erratic, slow wifi however connecting to the broadband worked for our laptops. I would recommend this house to anyone wanting to vacation with their dog.

Perfect Boulder location

  • 4 of 5

We stayed in this very cute home during our stay in Boulder. We had our two children ages, 9 and 11 with us. They each had their own room, which was perfect. The house was clean an decorated nicely. We enjoyed the nice quiet neighborhood. What we loved best was the convenient proximity to all of our destinations. John and Lisa were great to communicate with from start to finish. We would recommend this place to anyone staying in the Boulder area!
