About the property

House, A/C, 3 BR + Convertible bed(s), 1.5 BA, (Sleeps 6-8)

Welcome to Green Leaf! This is a comfortable 3-bedroom, 1.5 bath, totally renovated 2-story vacation home with central air, built in 1895. It is quietly situated in Macatawa Park. Green Leaf has views of Lake Macatawa and is a leisurely 5 minute walk thru the historic park to Lake Michigan and Big Red Lighthouse. During the peak summer weeks, mid-June thru the end of August, we rent from Saturday to Saturday only.

Green Leaf was completely renovated inside and out in 2010 and will sleep 6-8 people very comfortably. There is a queen bedroom, 2 singles in the 2nd bedroom, and a double bed in the 3rd - all on the 2nd floor with the full bath. Two more can sleep on the queen sofa sleeper in the living room. A pack-n-play, booster seat and baby gate are available for your use upon request. The shaded yard is a great place for your kids to run and play. There is a patio area and gas grill for you to prepare that great steak or your fresh lake-caught fish dinner. Just bring your own food - the eat-in kitchen is all set for you to move right in. Linens and towels are included (please provide your own beach towels). Cable tv and wifi are provided for you. Sorry, no pets or smoking at Green Leaf. Parking is available for two cars at the cottage.

Have a large group, or love cottaging with family or friends, but need your own space? Right next door to Green Leaf is Snug Harbor (sleeps 11-14 - vrbo listing 399207), another family-owned vacation home for those special people to rent during the same week!! Both vacation homes are pictured together in one of the photos.

There's loads of family fun awaiting all of you. Charter a boat for some big lake fishing or fish off the pier. You can relax at the beautiful private sandy beach or boogie board on the waves. Lake Michigan sunsets are a stunning sight. Step onto one of the many paths 300 feet from the cottage for a relaxed walk or bike ride in any direction. There are eateries, grocery stores, etc., along scenic South Shore Drive.

Holland has lots to offer the vacationer - miles and miles of hiking and biking paths, golf, the friendly Farmer's Market held on Wednesday and Saturday, a quaint and historic downtown for relaxed shopping, and casual and fine dining. Concerts at Kollen Park in summertime make for great family fun. Nearby Saugatuck (15 minute drive south) and Grand Haven (30 minutes north) are also fun shopping destinations.

Green Leaf is also available to rent in the off-season. We offer monthly rental rates from Labor Day thru Memorial Day, with a 3 month minimum rental. Rates are $1,300 per month, with a one month security deposit. Renter is responsible for paying gas, electric, water/sewer, and phone/internet service. Please contact us for more information.

About Jane Brennan Rosie

My family moved into this house when I was a young child. My parents purchased the house, which was next door to the home we lived in (and still own). Dad renovated the home for a few years while working as a wheelsman on one of the Great Lakes passenger liners (steamship) in the summer, and ship's carpenter in the off-season. The house was used as a family home until 2011 and is now being offered as a rental vacation home.

After taking ownership in 2011, we wanted to keep the home in the family, and invite others in to enjoy the area and location just as I did in my youth. It was a wonderful experience growing up in Macatawa Park. I have such great memories of my childhood there. It remains much the same as when I grew up there in the 1950's, so is a step back in time.

Jane Brennan Rosie purchased this house in 1958

So comfortable! Perfect location! Ideal!

  • 5 of 5

We were so happy with our choice in location and cottage! Steps from the beach - grill, backyard, quiet street, and most of all - comfortable. The place was so clean that I was able to relax! I am such a neat freak and the place was impeccable - I took my shoes off and showered like it was my own. I was so impressed. I recommended this place to all of my Chicago friends!

Amazing Location- Great Deal!

  • 5 of 5

This was such a great house with an amazing location! We had 7 women (old college housemates) share this space for the weekend and it was absolutely perfect for our needs! The beach is SO close, and it is only a 12 minute drive to beautiful downtown Holland. Don and Jane, the owners, are very accommodating and have provided everything you'll need (even a wagon to go to the beach)! Free wifi, (very) comfortable beds, ample towels, etc- it was just great! Highly recommend!

Wonderful stay!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Green Leaf for 6 weeks while our family was in transition moving out of state. I am so glad I found this place! First of all it was absolutely spotless. It was comfortable (especially the beds) and cozy. You can't beat the location if you are looking to enjoy the beach! A short walk to a gigantic white sandy beach! Janey and Rosie were amazing hosts. Not only were they extremely friendly, accommodating and quick to answer any questions, but we left with new friends. There is a fabulous restaurant across the street and a great grocery store just a 4 minute drive away. If you are looking for a comfortable, family friendly vacation home with a beautiful beach just a short walk away look no further. You can also rent the house next door if you have a large group (Snug Harbor). Would rent again in a heartbeat!

Very Enjoyable

  • 5 of 5

We arrived with my (aging) parents for a week. My brother and his wife joined us for the first weekend. The cottage was well equipped and spotless. Very convenient to the private beach and a short walk to a very good waterfront restaurant and bar. A short drive to a nice small market and ten minutes to downtown. Rosie (Don) and Jane were wonderful hosts, very helpful with recommendations and prompt in responding to questions. The only downside was the climb from the parking area to the house and then up the steps to the bedroom. It would have been fine with carry-ons but was tough with heavy suitcases and coolers. I'd stay here again in a flash, but would pack lighter. Also, I think if all six of us had been there the whole time having only one shower would have proven inconvenient. For four it was fine, and it would work great for a family with kids. Overall a great vacation spot.

Owner's Response: Macatawa Park IS a very special place. We know of several folks who have been coming since childhood, or came as a child and returned many times as an adult because of the wonderful times they experienced here. It is one of those places you never forget.
