Wonderful Holiday

  • 5 of 5

Spellstone is a wonderful vacation stay. The owner is very communicative and helped these Americans with questions about how things work :-) The cottage is immaculate and a beautiful view. We will definitely come again!

Delightful Stay!

  • 5 of 5

A much delayed review! Stayed at this wonderful home for a week in March. Per previous reviews, all is as stated in description. Desmond and Sarah couldn't have been more helpful. Sarah even brought turf she had cut herself for us to have a fire! Views are amazing, the sky was ever changing with gorgeous skyscapes! A nice walk to the village and short taxi ride home if you didn't want to walk back. After 2 weeks of driving around Ireland, it was great to be able to park the car and not worry about the narrow roads. However, a convenient location and easy to travel and tour other areas if desired. There were 5 of us staying in the home, 2 couples and 1 single gentleman. Home was comfortable for us all. A most wonderful time had by all! Thanks Des and Sarah!

Best View of Dingle

  • 5 of 5

Three weeks in Dingle staying at Spellstone was absolutely wonderful. This rental is the best deal you'll find for size of the house and the amenities included.

Thank you Des (and Sarah) for making us feel so welcome and taken care of...

Undoubtedly the best vacation spot on Earth

  • 5 of 5

The setting of this cottage is breathtaking. Fantastic views of the harbor and surrounding mountains are superb. Everything that describes the house and amenities is perfect. The only thing missing is a butler. The interior and exterior are immaculately clean, updated and fresh.

Spellstone is just a relaxing accommodation with everything one could ask for during a vacation. The close proximity to town, the serene settings, the quiet of the rural life and comfort of a home away from home made our stay so memorable.

Every morning we were greeted by our four legged neighbors grazing on the grass in the lawn surrounding the cottage. You can just sit our on the lawn chairs and enjoy the fresh air of Dingle and listen to the bleats of the sheep, lambs and cows in the fields.

Having Spellstone as a home base was so much better and relaxing then staying at a B & B, hotel or guesthouse.

The owner, Des Murphy and property manager, Sarah Cronin made it such an ease to book, pay deposit and final payment. Des came the first day we arrived to say hello and Sarah greeted us and showed us the layout. Both couldn't have been any more accommodating . We appreciate the touches they provided.

We have been coming to Dingle off and on for the past 16 years and this stay was our most enjoyable. Des and his team are "Brilliant"!

Thanks so much again Des and we will be in contact on our next Dingle vacation.

Truly Awesome

  • 5 of 5

We booked with the owner two days before our arrival as our prior travel arrangements got dashed at the last minute. The owner could not have been more responsive and accommodating. Upon our arrival, the property manager warmly greeted us and gave us a wealth of information that made our stay all the more convenient and enjoyable.

Everything you read in the other reviews is spot on. The home is immaculately clean and well appointed. The presence of the guitar, fiddle, piano and squeezebox are great diversions for musicians who have come to the area for its rich traditional Irish music scene. It's location is perfect, just outside the bustle of Dingle Town but close enough to walk (or cab if you're not so inclined). A local cell phone with 10 euro of time already loaded on it (which you can "top up" at the supermarket if you run out) is another amenity provided which was a nice touch and very useful for making restaurant reservations, calling cabs, etc.

Once you wander into town, the locals are more than willing to point you to things which might interest you just for the asking. Using their input, along with the Rick Steves guide (which we found to be spot on in nearly every instance), we were not disappointed. The number of outstanding musicians per capita playing in the local pubs is equal to U.S. music towns like Nashville and New Orleans. While the pubs are where the real fun is, don't miss a trad music performance in the Dingle Music Shop or the St. James Church where the setting is more intimate and the audience more subdued.

One new activity that appears to not have hit the general info guides yet is the Dingle Cookery School on the west end of town. We took an Irish cooking course there and spent a wonderful rainy afternoon learning about and cooking traditional Irish dishes, including brown bread and a hearty turnip and squash soup that left us so full up and satisfied we skipped dinner.

All in all, lots to do and see in and around Dingle. Then after long days and nights of exploring and pub crawling, you return back to the home for peace, quiet and comfort and to recharge your batteries for tomorrow!

Go dte tú slán
