Time to relax

  • 4 of 5

The house was very nice and we had plenty of room for everybody. Access to the beach was very nice it didn't require a lot of walking. Did have small issues with internet wifi but then again you are on vacation. We encountered a small problem with one of the steps coming loose on the stairs and notified the maintenance people and they were there within an hour and repaired it. The check in process was wonderful we were in the office about 10 mins, they had everything ready to go when we got there. I would highly recommend renting from Forgotten Coast they have been really enjoyable and easy to work with.

The house is nice, but...

  • 3 of 5

The house itself is nice. It is right on the beach - which was fantastic as I never had to worry about "carrying" stuff to the beach, I could just run back to the house for anything. The views are nice. But, there are a couple of things to consider:

1. The bedroom space is more than ample, however, the common areas - kitchen, dining and living space is entirely too small for the number of people the house sleeps. There is no way to have a meal together.

2. The furniture is "tired". It's not in horrible shape by any means, but it has definitely seen better days. Beds including.

3. The elevator - this was a deciding factor for us when we chose this house. My mom isn't super mobile and wouldn't have been able to navigate the stairs the entire time, so the idea of an elevator was very appealing. However, the elevator itself is rickety and temperamental. It got stuck multiple times - where it wouldn't open and people were stuck inside. And, it would go down/up to a level, refuse to open and then return to the level you were trying to leave and do it over and over again. It was very stressful. Other times, it worked ok.

4. We also had fridge issues. The water line froze over on our first day there. When we contacted the maintenance, they came out, very promptly, but we had to take all of our food out and wait for the lines to thaw out for 45 minutes. When they left, they said this model of the fridge does that, but it takes months and we wouldn't have this issue again... the lines froze over the next day. This time (sunday), we had to take all of our food out for the entire day. The unit next door was vacant by then, and they helped us store the food there, but... it was very inconvenient - we had 5 kids with us from 6 months to 7 years and not having easy access to food for a whole day wasn't super fun.

5. And lastly, and it's mostly on me for not realizing it when I signed the contract, but this property doesn't have a pool, which would have been really nice to have. I should have read the description more closely.
