Wonderful Family Trip

  • 5 of 5

My experience at this beautiful property was amazing!

The Best part was the deck... The house can use a little upgrading - It's a little dated but for the most part it was fully equipped with all that we needed - House was clean- comfortable and it provided enough space for 16 of us!

I will return later in the year. Home owner was very responsive and quick to send the property manager out if we needed assistance! We took out boat out and the boat lift was awesome- it was a enjoyable- relaxing - weekend!

!Thank You!

Everything we wanted from the weekend

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at this VRBO was fantastic! We had a group of 14 spend the weekend here and thought this house was fantastic. Plenty of beds and towels, and lots of space to work with. We particularly loved the common areas -- being able to have the full group stay together in the large living room + connected dining room was great. Highly recommended!

Cool spot on the lake

  • 4 of 5

Great spot. A few cosmetic small imperfections, but nothing that should ruin your stay. Would be a fit for 4 couples easily. Small quiet town. Good bang for your buck. I'd stay again.

Great Family Weekend on Clear Lake

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing family weekend on Clear Lake and this home helped make it possible. It was great for a large family to be able to swim right off the dock and to keep our boat. When not everyone could go out on the boat, including my 8 month old baby, the deck is perfect for lounging and BBQing. The place was clean when we arrived and everything worked properly.

We will be coming back.

Over priced & POOR condition, not recommended, but is big enough for large group & has boat lift

  • 2 of 5

Such a shame, this could be a nice property if it were fixed up but it's clear the owner doesn't use it or just doesn't care. The many negative reviews are mostly correct, & I should have heeded warnings, but we ran out of options for our dates, so took a chance on this one. You can rent much better houses for less $ on Clear Lake. This one served our needs, though, as it has a functional (though slooow) boat lift on the dock, house is clean enough, and has lots of room.

Pictures are not accurate, indeed the place is in poor condition, but there is some good: it is big, has lots of beds, is mostly clean, provided linens, and the kitchen had enough tools to be functional. Good coffee maker! Air conditioner works, mostly, but not in the master bedroom. We enjoyed the pool table! View is very nice. The boat lift on the dock, maybe the best thing about this property, is a real plus because the lake can get choppy sometimes.

However, there was enough wrong with the place that we left a day early (paid for) and won't be coming back. Everything just feels neglected. Carpet is not nice, beds not comfortable, bathroom faucet came off in my hand, master shower leaks a big puddle on the floor, the door to the shower area is too big for the doorway so it doesn't even close.

The dock functions but is just really gross--covered in duck poop and spider webs. I also saw a giant black widow outside the kitchen window so that's probably what made the webs! Most troublesome thing is probably the deck--it leans at a dramatic angle, as if it's sliding down the beach, and screws are popping up. I'm not sure it's safe at all. (The caretaker says he's replacing the screws soon.) Also, there is no shade outside except a small umbrella which makes it unusable in summer daytime heat. So unless you have a boat and/or go sightseeing, you're stuck inside during the day. Also, neighbor's big Doberman dog was chained up outside and barked a lot, and aggressively at us whenever we were outside--upset our dog, and made going down to the water scary because it was aggressively pulling its chain and there's no fence between it and the beach. Couldn't take our dog to the water because that really *upset* the Doberman. So, we just didn't spend time outside except to look at stars at night.

In summary: 2 stars for the dock/lift and size, but over priced and cannot recommend in current condition.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a wonderful time at your house. We really loved the large deck, on which we ate breakfast and dinner while watching the ducks, geese, and grebes. Also, you might recommend a terrific tour to future guests. We took the "Eyes of the Wild" pontoon boat tour, which is hosted by two wildlife photographers who know seemingly everything about the birds and wildlife on the lake. What a bonus!

Again, thank you for having us. It was an unforgettable vacation.
