Absolutely charming, cozy, spacious and nicely furnished 1000 sq.ft. loft within the Old City walls. Lots of character with stone and brick walls, pine floors, vaulted ceiling, exposed beams and mezzanine. Like all the guests I have hosted, you will feel at home here.

On the third and top floor of the building. Fully equipped kitchen, Nespresso coffee maker. Queen size sofa bed in living room. Bedroom on mezzanine with queen size bed, walk-in closet, computer desk. Cable TV (with Internet feature) and unlimited Wi-Fi. This natural light-flooded corner unit with direct view on the mountains, the Esplanade Park and the Parliament is only steps away from the Plains of Abraham and all sightseeing and tourist attractions.

HISTORY

This heritage building was built in 1835 for Henry Atkinson, a wealthy merchant. It was home to a hotel until 1841, then to Major-General James Hope, followed by a member of the middle class, a legislative counsel, the owner/manager of the Bank of British North America, financier William Molson Macpherson (grandson of the founder of a national brewery) and a prominent judge, before it was passed onto an orphanage in 1948. The building was divided into condominiums in the 1980s.

Ravissant appartement d'environ 90 m.c. au troisième et dernier étage de l'immeuble. Très sympathique, spacieux et joliment meublé. Situé à l'intérieur des murs de la vieille ville, ce loft aux murs de pierre et de brique, aux planchers en pin, aux poutres apparentes et au plafond ouvert sur sa mezzanine est plein de cachet. Comme tous les visiteurs que j'ai accueillis, vous vous sentirez ici comme à la maison.

Cuisine entièrement équipée et cafetière Nespresso. Grand divan-lit au salon. Chambre à coucher en mezzanine avec grand lit 2 places, grande penderie et table d'ordinateur. Télé câblée et Wi-Fi illimitée. Cet appartement en coin est baigné de lumière naturelle et offre une magnifique vue sur la montagne, le parc de l'Esplanade, les fortifications et l'Assemblée nationale, tout cela à quelques pas seulement des Plaines d'Abraham et de nombreux sites touristiques.

Cet immeuble patrimonial a été construit en 1835 pour un riche marchand du nom de Henry Atkinson. Il a abrité un hôtel jusqu'en 1841, ensuite le major général James Hope, suivi d'un membre de la bourgeoisie, d'un conseiller législatif, du propriétaire et gérant de la banque British North America, du financier William Molson Macpherson (petit-fils d'un brasseur canadien), ainsi que d'un juge éminent avant d'être cédé à un orphelinat en 1948. L'immeuble a été subdivisé en copropriétés dans les années 80.

About Property Owner

For me, acquiring this property seven years ago was nothing short of a dream come true. The condo is located in a heritage building that dates back to 1835, when it was built for a wealthy businessman by the name of Henry Atkinson. The exterior is made of the Sillery-Cap-Rouge sandstone that now forms part of the Québec fortifications and the walls of the Citadel and that was used to restore the Saint-Jean Gate in 1938.

En grande passionnée de voyages, j'éprouve une immense satisfaction personnelle à préparer votre séjour chez moi. Pardon... chez vous. C'est vrai, vous vous sentirez ici comme chez vous. C'est ma promesse et c'est l'une des choses que j'ai le plus à coeur.

Si vous connaissez déjà la belle ville de Québec, vous avez une longueur d'avance et vous passerez des vacances fabuleuses. Sinon, venez faire sa découverte et celle de ses nombreuses complices. Partez à Baie St-Paul, à Tadoussac et aux Bergeronnes, puis attardez-vous un temps à St-Irénée et à Pointe-au-Pic. Prenez le temps de remonter la rivière Saguenay et, par-delà le majestueux St-Laurent, de visiter St-Séverin en Beauce et le parc du Bic. Enfin, n'oubliez pas de faire un crochet par les incontournables que sont Kamouraska, St-Jean-Port-Joli et la multitude d'îlots éparpillés comme des confettis dans les eaux du St-Laurent. Il vous faudra bien un mois pour voir tout cela, non?

Being just steps to everything while enjoying the privacy of this property overlooking the Esplanade Park is something you will truly value. And who wouldn't like waking up to the sound of horses' hooves on the cobblestone, or seeing a groundhog during a morning walk on the Plains of Abraham just around the corner! In addition, those who like to stay connected while getting a breath of fresh air will be happy to know that there are Wi-Fi hot spots for free Internet access in multiple sectors of the Plains of Abraham.But this may not be necessary as the property's Wi-Fi connection also works perfectly while sipping your coffee on the bench across the street!

There is a lot to do in Québec City: outdoor ice skating at Place d'Youville or on the newly opened ice rink on the Plains of Abraham, also a nice place for snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and rollerskating. And in the close surroundings, there is petanque, archery, hebertism and treetop games, hang-gliding and skydiving. Other attractions and amenities include: outdoor public swimming pool, waterpark, bicycle rental, horse-drawn carriages (at your doorstep); the Image Mill, boat cruises, etc. Enjoy a bicycle ride on one of the many cycle paths in and around Québec City. Even take your bicycle on the Québec-Lévis ferry and follow the path along the St. Lawrence River to capture the most spectacular views of Québec, stop by the marina to quench your thirst and have lunch or pick a place for picnic and enjoy the view. Montmorency Falls and Île d'Orléans are two must-see places. For more information, you should visit the Tourist Bureau, located at 12 rue Ste-Anne, right across from Château Frontenac. The Tourist Bureau (Centre Infotouriste) is open every day from 9:00 to 5:00 except December 25 and January 1.

The location couldn't be better. Wander in the streets of Old Québec and discover the fortifications, the illustrious Château Frontenac, the famous Plains of Abraham and Place-Royale. In the green belt surrounding the city, the impressive Montmorency Falls and peaceful Île d’Orléans are other scenic attractions that you may want to visit. Outdoor activities abound in the region of Quebec and include hiking, alpine skiing, river sports, mountain climbing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and fauna observation. The area has several parks which make perfect playgrounds for outdoor enthusiasts. In winter, everything becomes enchanted and the snowy Old Québec looks like fairyland! Open the old pupil desk in the living room and dig out an abundance of maps and guidebooks to help you get started on all the fun things to do during your stay.

Wonderful from start to finish..

We had decided to take a place in Quebec that would allow a comfortable time to enjoy all the sweet little place has to offer. The apartment we selected was just perfect. It's location is such that we could walk everywhere and then return for a rest before heading out again to explore.

The apartment provides everything one could want without any need for spending time shopping for little extras..it's there. We used the fully stocked kitchen to do a bit of cooking and found it perfect.

If you are interested in having a quality time in a lovely setting, you could not do better than to choose this apartment. The owner was there when we arrived and was easily reachable at all times, providing suggestions and support.

The parking was right across the street so we had no worries about using the car when we wanted to do some little trips. However, everything one could want is easily reachable without ever needing to drive.

Owner's Response: What a lovely couple! Although they never complained, I must say my TV was a little outdated, i.e. it didn't have the Internet feature and perhaps the picture was not that great. So what did my lovely guests do? They went out and bought a new TV – same brand, same size – which I then bought back from them because I too thought the sharp picture and the Internet feature were something that my future guests might enjoy. Furthermore, they saved me the shopping trip. But of course the lovely couple didn’t expect me to buy the TV back. If I didn’t want to keep it, they were ready to take it home with them! I hope to have the pleasure of hosting them again.

Great location and very comfortable

We really enjoyed our stay in Quebec and our apartment inside city walls We loved everything about Quebec and liked being almost at the top of the hill near the Plains of Abraham park where we hiked/walked almost every day. The apartment is so close to activities, entertainment, and delicious restaurants. Although you do not need a car in old Quebec we were grateful for a dedicated parking space and actually did not move our car for the first 3 weeks we were there. The apartment has everything you need. We would rent it again if we return to Quebec again if it was available

Superb!

This warm and charming loft-appartement is perfectly located in Old QC. I had a vehicle but did not require it. You can walk to the train station in 10 minutes if you choose rail travel. Grocery and liquor stores, restaurants are all within easy walking distance. The owner was courteous and provided all necessary information. Just bring your clothes and enjoy. It's a 5 for me.

Parfait!

We loved everything about Le Loft. It was perfect for my wife and me during our month in Québec City. Everything about the apartment was just right. It is a perfect location for everything inside and outside Vieux Québec. We did not have a car, but that did not prevent us from doing anything. What a wonderful place!

Great accommodations for Exploring Quebec City

We had a wonderful stay in the Loft over looking the park. The Loft had a very comfortable homey feel to it. Would highly recommend based on location and the quaint feel of the Loft.
