About Kara Keller

Kara is a Michigan native with an appreciation for nature, a passion for good design and a love for historic homes. She moved to Kalamazoo from the shores of Lake Michigan in 1990 to attend college. She remained in Kalamazoo because of it's youthful energy, amazing people and an up and coming direction which has since been realized. When she's not combing the earth for treasures to use in her kottages and working on DIY projects, she's often found running, cross country skiing, biking, kayaking and traveling.

Kara Keller purchased this apartment in 1996

Why Kara Keller chose Stuart

If you’re seeking an innovative and modern b&b experience, you’ll enjoy our notion of doing something different rather than doing the same thing better.

However, if what you’re seeking is a traditional b&b experience which includes prepared breakfast with other guests, daily housekeeping, frequent interactions with the innkeeper and renting only one room, I might recommend another option.

Available for overnight, weekly or monthly rental, this Kalamazoo B&B is an ideal choice for business or pleasure.

What makes this apartment unique

In practical terms: I have developed a space that is unique and ideal for today’s modern travelers who desire all of the comforts of home during their stay; A separate spaces within a home that allow for additional visitors, multiple guests and total privacy. All this, and on a heavily wooded lot with a great outdoor space in a safe and quiet, historic neighborhood near Downtown Kalamazoo.

This Extended Stay Bed and Breakfast allow for the flexibility of renting to 1-5 guests for 1-90 days while offering each guest every comfort of home no matter what their length of stay.

In Idyllic terms: Attractive, peaceful and picturesque.. In good design, this has always been my objective and this Bed and Breakfast is no exception. What you will enjoy most about each Kottage is the attention to detail, gorgeous design and little extras. This home reflects my vast experience, healthy outlook, connection to nature and strong work ethic.

This conveniently located, Kalamazoo Bed and Breakfast is within walking distance to Downtown Kalamazoo, bike paths, shopping, great restaurants, 2 Local Colleges and much more!

Kara’s Kottages is also unique in that there is not a live-in innkeeper. This detail gives my guests more privacy and autonomy during their stay, giving this B&B a vacation rental flavor.

Sweet Cozy Place!

  • 4 of 5

What a comfortable little place you've created! We arrived after a 5 hour drive, and a cold coming on, walked in and immediately felt better by the warmth and comfort. The electric fireplace was on, ambient lighting and the decor made us feel so welcome. We stayed at the Main St. cottage - parking (oh - and the lighting in the garage was also appreciated) was easy, the location was great. The stocked pantry was fun - pleasantly surprised that it included almond milk (we had actually brought our own so we didn't use it, but it was still appreciated!).

We would suggest information be available on the tv/dvd player. We tried to watch a movie but couldn't figure out the controls. Also the shower was not our favorite - trying to adjust the shower head was frustrating. And it could have been cleaner.

All in all it is a lovely place that we would highly recommend!
